1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Terry

Going fro for a bit. Let's hope tonight's clue is more telling, heh?

I actually thought about that Cougar. You can see the tallest of the 3M building from the park, but I can't seem to fit it in. The building there are denoted with

numbers, but it seems too far away to be using that. Maybe it will be part of a future clue. There is also a building you can see from there with the word "SUN" in

enormous letters, but I couldn't fit that in either, yet.

was at mounds last year and saw plenty of footprints on the mounds. i don't think pp would take the risk of hiding it there and having pepole did up the

mounds and face a lawsuit from the indains

Regarding the "trees in a line"...what about trees in a line being a hEDGE...which is the FIRST part of EDGECUMBE...which would put it at Highland. Thought of

this last night and saw that someone else had to. Anyone else agree?

Treasurer is mentioned almost every year, I don't think it has any meaning other than the reward for finding the med. But a line of trees pointing to a sign with a name

that is displayed near by could be significant.

I was talking about the rec center at Conway Park. If you were to gauge its address from Ruth St. it could be 459. But it is on Conway, not Ruth.

FYI - the PP isn't going to use a billboard as part of the clue (treasure island). Billboards change all the time.

Where does it say "treasure island?" the tresure is the medallion!

But then I could be saying Mirriam to throw you all off. <evil grin>

Really I think that's the place. Time for me to sneek in a nap before I head back out.

Does anyone think someone would really dig up the mounds looking for the medallion? I'd like to think no one in this city is that stupid.

Sister Sister,

The Treasure Island billboard has been there for years and will be there for years. They update it every week or so with their upcoming shows. So in this case YES

they could use a billboard.

We went to Merriam today - not alot of people - great sliding hill, however!! Can see the Treasure Island billboard - BUT do you REALLY think that when they

wrote these clues they could count on the fact that the Treasure Island billboard would still be there?

The clues this year are so unusual that we can't figure it out!!!

We were also at Newell, Como and Highland. We haven't seen the usual suspects!!!

was just cathing up on all the notes, i just drove around merr, high, new, linw, and bc..there was probably about 10 people at each which tells you really

not narrowed down yet.....be careful of the rock saying new clue was out because he said that earlier today and he made up a totally different clue.....and

just a couple hours ago was another clue he made up so dont be fooled by him because he is full of it......i have my opinion on what park it is at but dont

leave harriet island out of the picture because blast from the past....this is where it was hidden the first year and it is the 150th anniversary.......good luck

everyone......

WSW - Maybe the billboard has been there for years. I still don't think they'd ever use a billboard in a clue. Besides, the MEDALLION is the Treasure they're

reffering to, not the billboard.

Allison, I'm liking Conway even more. About my Babe Ruth comment, clue 6 is screaming baseball. a comment not mentioned earlier is that "you might bring the

treasure HOME." There are NINE innings in baseball, and I'm pretty sure there are FOUR baseball diamonds. Did you check the four home plates?

Dave,

DOH!!! You are right!! It is Grand Casino! The point (to me) was that it was a permanate casino sign. And it still fits.

it is St. Paul's 150th anniversary. NOT the winter carnival.

As far as the billboard, the clue was "valuable sign".

Go look at it. This puzzle will NOT be solved sitting at home reading what other people post. You need to get out there.

Regalman,

From Marriam park you can see a Grand Casino billboard through a the line of trees that follow I94.

Reminds me of '92 when they were talking about black mounds. The medallion was in Cherokee and the mounds they were talking about were the piles of coal

accross the river for the power plant.
