CLAP CLAP CLAP Congrats to PP. You have thusfar flipped this hunt on me. Clue one I had a park named. Clue two you gave me the streets directly to my park.Clue three was items in my park. Clue four was an abstract reference to the town with which I hunted. Clue five was an extrapulated version of what was an ubutting street. Now clue 6 I believe would have been a perfect early clue without any good reference.
I can't remember who mentioned it earlier (I think Nimrod) about the beacon tower at Indian Mounds = approach and have no fear
approach = airplane landing term
have no fear= this got me thinking of the postal service motto, since the airport was originally built for airmail planes. But the motto doesn't actually have those words in it.
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
Hey it's got gloom in it people.....

I think I'm leaning either IM park or the upper levee/landing park
ok... couldn't sleep much... it's what this dang hunt does to me :pbpt: :pbpt: :pbpt: :pbpt: :pbpt:
kept runnin through my head... "lose your colic"... lose your pain.. lose Payne.. I think this was the cw finally telling us to disregard his red herring (Swede Hollow) if we want a shot at claiming the prize.. it fits my entire line of thinking because I've been convinced from the start they were using SH like that
then I was thinking... jacks are important in the game of euchre... the trump card, the "high" card... two blatant references to jacks in the clues... "euchre" has been defined as the poor man's "bridge"..
good enough for me to form a new favorite park... heck ANYTHING that makes that much sense to me right now, I'm goin with it and huntin there tomorrow
just back from Harriet, B.C., Swede, and - since it's close to home - the area between Phalen/Keller, where we thought it was last year....
although I did pee in two of those parks, I didnt find it yet....
its almost 5:30 a.m.
I need to change clothes...
I have a job interview in a few hours, after I drop Carolyn at work...
then i'm back out...
I hate being all over town, at this point in the hunt...
sleep is over-rated...
on a side note, if any of you find it next to a pee spot that looks like a giant "W"...... please - just lie, and say you picked it up on the other side of the park....
Thought I'd give you guys a heads-up that there is no school in St. Paul today. Remember the BC kids from a few years back... they will be out in force today.
Okay, so I think I have a breakthrough that could narrow the park, but we'll have to rethink the other clues to fit it. It is strange that they used the word "dankness". I think we have our anagram. If you take dankness and vale, you get "Svenska Dalen", which of course means Swede Hollow. I think it's a bit too coincidental to have those two words so close together anagram to that.
That park will make for an ugly final rush...I've been there every day, so far, and those hills are deadly...doesn't mean the medallion's not there...but they better have EMTs on standby for the final.
very nice! I kept saying at the paper last night that I thought they used to call swede hollow the danken vale, only to find out it was Svenska Dalen. So I gave up on the theory. Now it opens it all up again. Hate to think it's right though, at this point, but gotta wonder....
Female half of hnts2mch here: I finally made myself my own ID.
My plan this weekend: dress warm and dig a little in every park just so I can say I dug in the right park. Spent way too much time in another park last year....which in my opinion the clues fit better.
I just don't think I will be able to make it down there this year for the 10th clue. Turning into a weekend digger I guess...ya know kids, job, responsibilities.
Now that's impressive. Slogging through all morning (took all day yesterday to get me approved) and Mikey already has me convinced. Not that it's hard to do...
Oh I could probly convince you of BC too! The upper and lower part...
If it is BC we should see an "upper/lower clue tonight and then we'll all wonder if we should be in the upper part of park or lower part, upper or lower afton, the lower part by upper afton, the upper part by lower afton, etc..
Halfway thru this hunt.I have no idea
approach = airplane landing term
have no fear= this got me thinking of the postal service motto, since the airport was originally built for airmail planes. But the motto doesn't actually have those words in it.

sitting at the bulldog!!
RR
beasts exposed = the mark of the beast is 666 if youre looking at house numbers 666 would cut east/west through the northern end of Swede hollow
The maplewood side of BC has the creek that widens out into the floodplain detention ponds before it goes back into the creek.
Plenty of room in that part of the creek area. Remember the creek comes from the lake first.
Endless knave - Mcknight Rd used to be called the "Through Road" - it had no stop signs back in the '70s
I'm still liking my earlier idea of the prize being near the earth cache - isn't that area a vale?

good band, good drinks, fun people, fun time!

this is the first thing that pops up when I google that thing 40- told us not to I think it is KOOL!!!
So I dont forget what I was going to post!!!!
although I did pee in two of those parks, I didnt find it yet....
its almost 5:30 a.m.
I need to change clothes...
I have a job interview in a few hours, after I drop Carolyn at work...

Im not making that mistake twice.
hopefully.
Only 15 1/2 hours till the next clue.
The noodle about the Upper Landing is interesting and, with the lack of an it's-in-a-park clue, makes it an idea worth hanging onto for now.
I laughed about the Pierce Butler Route exchange. I'm on that route almost daily. Definately not by BC.
I have nothing new to add. No new noodles.
By a out pt surgery center??
My plan this weekend: dress warm and dig a little in every park just so I can say I dug in the right park. Spent way too much time in another park last year....which in my opinion the clues fit better.

A stretch clue: "heard" = herd = shepard road?
She always arrives quite late to the game,
cause she's from the wrong side of the town
and she's no longer lil, does she need a new name?
at least she'll be warm since she's round.
Heres noodles for Swede Hollow...
Clue #1
Oh great King Boreas, make winter glorious:
Unleash the medallion quest!
We'll be up front: We devote the hunt
To Box, our friend, now at rest
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
We'll be up front=location of med?
box's funeral here?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Clue #2
Tramping hill and dell, you may hear tell
About the contests waged of yore
Much of the history remains a mystery
Which we hope to bring to the fore
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
dell=A small secluded wooded valley. small wooded hollow
hills,
may hear tell = may learn history of hollow because of hunt
history remains a mystery=history of swede is a mystery= no records kept etc..
bring to the fore= by placing puck here people will learn history, and also maybe puck location again
yore=past=immigrants
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Clue #3
All we see was done naturally
Water and ice are here
In this harbor of impressive arbor
Approach and have no fea
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
its a natural ravine/hollow, has water and ice, harbor of impressive arbore= lots of trees and secluded
approach is a tunnel, have no fear?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Clue #4
Even those in detention during our recent convention,
Heard a politically hip chick
Is it a pig or pit bull, it was argued most fitful,
That looks more lovely in lipstick?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
detention = wilder/bad boys detention home
palin creek
pig=hamm
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Cue #5
It takes all sorts to come and play sports
In this sweet land of fun and frolic
With bower enclosed and beasts exposed
You're bound to lose your colic
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
all sorts= immigrants
sweet land = immigrants
bower enclosed =A shaded, leafy recess; an arbor.
arbor=A shady resting place (of puck?) in a garden or park
Swede is managed by the garden club...
secluded woods? or where its hidden like last year?
sports=hiking? emphasis is all sorts, not sports IMO
beasts exposed= wild area/ wilder area??
lose your colic=stop crying
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Clue #6
The dankness of the vale may your spirit impale:
The setting seems oh so gloomy!
But be brave, you endless knave,
You'll find it really quite roomy.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
dankness of the vale= annagram to "Svenska Dalen"
Vale = A valley, often coursed by a stream; a dale
"endless knave" almost anagrams to Svenska Dalen....just one "a" and "e" need to be switched
seems gloomy= as you walk in the tunnel, but its quite roomy inside the enclave
knave =A man of humble birth, or poor immigrant?
endless= the park trails do not end. They extend to Vento and then mounds on the south, and go north past the brewery to palin blvd and beyond
Something to consider???
If it is BC we should see an "upper/lower clue tonight and then we'll all wonder if we should be in the upper part of park or lower part, upper or lower afton, the lower part by upper afton, the upper part by lower afton, etc..
Interesting.
