My mock hunt is going to start Oct 16!!!! 2 clues a day, 12 clues in all! Clues 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 will be given as close to 9 AM as possible. Clues 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 will be given as close to 3 PM as possible. Right here. Clues 1 and 12 are special so they will be given at special times.
Prizes: 2 pairs of tickets to Minnesota Wild home games (tbd), 2 St Paul Saints hats, 2 Pioneer Press hats, 1 DVD of all the interviews for No Time For Cold Feet along with the Zephy news story and the story on last years finders from CM, 1 bag of m and m's
Clue #1
I captured the flag nearby burial mounds
But if you look near there you’ll be left in the dark
Because it’s a sacred area that is out of bounds
One thing's the same: it's in a Ramsey County Park
Clue #2
A post every year, hey have a beer
When you find this you're on your way
But to which park should I steer?
You might find out later today
Clue #3
The typical clue that doesn't tell you poo
Usually comes around clue number three
The park has tables, grills, and a shelter too
Is that all? Not when you find two twenty
Clue #4
Live in the present, but remember the past
A one, a two, one red, one blue
Other than a vote, what can be cast?
Another treasure was hidden here too
Clue #5
A street or a few can split into two
Many times this causes a plight
Even you can figure out this clue
Should you think of nuggets and a time with no light
Clue #6
The battle for the axe was settled by fate
In an overly heated battle
Look near the reason this bout causes such hate
And the rest will follow you like cattle
Clue #7
Normally you wouldn’t re-bake veal
But in this case you should give it a try
Figuring this clue is a pretty big deal
And if you don’t get it your chances might die
Clue #8
Step up to the challenge, move away from the lake
Rockin with Ben Folds may offer a guide
The prize can be taken without using a rake
Just look for a good spot for a rodent to hide
Clue #9
Terry, Shawn, Dan, Scott, and Jason
Couldn't have been any better
They teamed with Johnson and Johnson
To help me hide my Wild sweater

congrats CM....
nice move too.... evil indeed... when did you get your degree in evilocity?
there was a few too many piles of crap out there....
I hate having to watch where i'm walking, or hunting, in fear of touching poo....
but since its over, I may as well get back to.....
whatever it is that I do....
Again - I wasn't trying to be 'evil' Nick.
Instigator :coolfrown:
nah man.... s'all good...
I know you werent trying to piss anyone off...
it could be worse...
you could have gotten hit in the eye with a branch?
I'll go out on a limb here and say that I think everyone would have been extremely disappointed if the hunt had ended when CM found the treasure. It reminds me of the Winter Carnival hunt when the medallion was found early and they hid a second one to appease everyone. This wouldn't have been practical in this instance.
Saying that, I think CM did the right thing by leaving it there for "second place" and insuring that there would be another winner. He could have just declared he found it, hunt's over, and kept all the prizes. He didn't do that.
The reason we have these mock hunts is for practice for the Winter Carnival hunt, but even more I think for the experience of hunting, and in this case, in some of the most spectacular weather of the year and the commadarie. Reading the posts since Tuesday night when CM found it, it sounds like everyone was having a grand old time.
Just my two cents worth.
Besides I'm sure Tim worked really hard putting the clues together, it would have been a shame for it to end too early.
Plus I think it's kind of funny.. just don't do that doing the real thing. OK CM?
But I understand what you are saying.
dont do that with the WC medallion when you find it, CM...
instead, just sell it to Map Guy for the 11 thousand bux, he was talkin about at the Wild game...
too much triptofan(sp?)=not enough hunting
120/century does that crap too... has a buncha names....
But when you are just driving you dont think of it as not mcknight because you are back on mcknight so quick (in a car).

Thanks to CM for posting this originally.
I was impressed that you were out there so early. I was even a bit disappointed when I first found it because I was all geared up to hunt off and on for a few nice days. That first night was more to get visuals to help with future clues. But once I saw the posts, I just had to explore a bit. I would have never of done this if I was hunting with someone or someone else was out there at the time.
Thanks for the comments OT, TMK, tater girl and the rest of you. Another learning chapter in the life of the CC I guess.
Plus the second finder still gets prizes
I've been gone from posting all nite...
CM already knows this...I'm OK with all of this...heck I give him a lot of credit for even thnking of it....
I would have gotten carried away and gloated..but that's me.
I see everybody's view on this from a lot of angles....
I love the fact that CM found it with some skill and luck....I love the fact that I knew where to look exactly to the spot by luck and skill.
heh...
...nice job tim!!!
...nice job CM...
...Good job at listening to my direction Mucky...heh
....heh...and I did call dibs....
I posted photo #2 from mappy's site...
where's that photo really from???
just thought it was funny when I looked at the photo for beaver lake..
First let me start off by saying, the prize I found belongs to Kitch, I was there to meet him, he told me where to look, I spent a half an hour hunting for Diamond Willow walking sticks ((I found an awesome one BTW) and was walking back to the parking lot to meet him when he called with the clue. At that moment I was walking up the steps to the main trail, saw the hole, stuck my stick in and found it. Had I not been talking to kitch at the time, I very well might have put it back for him to find.
Brad - I am sorry I called you a jerk, FWIW I was smiling at the time. I see your point in not wanting the hunt to end early. I remember well the big hunt that ended at Merriam early. I remember pitty parties and lots of coolers crying in there beer for months over that one. It has been a long time since we had a hunt, and for it to end early would have been a shame.
I was in the park three times, I noodled one good clue, which was wrong but I liked it. Poo=restrooms :pbpt: I play this GAME for the fun of it, for the opportunity to spend time with some neat people, to learn some things about noodling clue, about the parks.....
It's a game, it's fun. I had a blast!!!
Tim the clues were great, when CM told me how he solved #2 I was amazed...that was an awesome clue.
Enough said.....
Oh, except that I took third in a Texas Holdem Tourney last night, won my second invite to the Super Tourney
I'm wondering if I should ever put my money against you, Redbear, and Tim ever again.
I suck at poker- trying to learn...but I still suck.
thanks for the "steps" props...
I honestly thought the steps and 3rd step down just because of the "ben fold" clue...I got the wrong song...heh...worked ..got lucky..
Is there time for 2 more hunts this fall/winter?????
As I'd like to do one 2....
of course, in the long run, that's not really an issue either. after all, that's how we're supposed to find the real thing...
I mean really bad for a few days...It bothered me...I couldn't believe my brain was not working right.
Thanks Kitch & TMK. And I always know you have a smile on your face Clucky.
