2006 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt

Submitted by KITCH on
Clue #1
Thar's stories told thar's pirate's gold
Stolen from ye olde martyr's stock
To make yer haul, go search St. Paul
You'll find the key is in the lock

Clue #2
The Chinook wind blows, and the gray sky snows
As weary pirates seek shelter from the storm
Just how much treasure will make yer pleasure?
Thar’s a lot nearby but it shan’t make ye warm

Clue #3
A pirate must spy the stars with an eye
And whilst navigating stay ever alert
Misery'd prevail, if ye try to set sail
In a ship aimed towards the rich Shepard's dirt.

Clue #4
“Grub at six bells,” the pirate yells,
Zounds matey, tis nearly time for dinner.
But ye must wit which spot to sit,
Ones nearby might help make ye a winner.

Clue #5
A fire all aglow in me bungalow
Tempts a pirate to spend me time in port
But I’d best set sail and catch a strong gale
To avoid me fateful, dire day in court.

Clue #6
When pirates sail by the sweet lorelei
Aye, a careful prayer they must be keepin’
For her tempting call could well end it all
And with the dead soldiers they’d be sleepin’.

Clue #7
“The way that be best to open ye chest
Is to use a key”, the old pirate yawned.
Disappoint it may, would you perhaps say,
To be findin’ out the key had been pawned?

Clue #8
Tis a chain methinks fraught with many links
That’s meanin’ yer close enough to smell’er
Ye’d be no dummy hunting this mummy
Aye, lest ye panic and go run yeller.

Clue #9
Skeletons sit silently, having not died violently,
They’re simply sleeping through the winter days.
Listen closely my dear, they say “Treasure is near,
Buts if ye shall claims it, ye can not stays.”

Clue #10
Tis a park ye pursue, t’would be easy to view
If’n ye knew the street whereby cars buzz
But you’ll do just fine if ye get in line
With what be the interstate that never was.

If Clue Master posts here, ignore it- as if you were a juror, and the Judge ordered you to 'disregard' the post.

I already told you. I don't make the rules.

just an fyi for folks trying to pinpoint aw's writing style, i'm in the process of gathering the clues from all the mock hunts in the past and getting them up online. there's a link on coolercrew.com on the menu right after the hiding places link, and i'm adding it to the thread header here.

Mock Hunts

As of right now, the 2001 and 2002 aw hunts are up. still gathering clues from 2000 and 2003-2005. after that i'll be moving on to the rest of the mock hunts we've had. if anyone who's done one wants to save me some work, i'd be more than receptive to receiving the clues and explanations in an email

no problem.

like i was telling aw last night, the whole thing is scripted, so getting the clues up is a fast matter of copying and pasting. procuring those clues, however.....

5030.1

I just wanted to remind everyone that next Sunday, February 12th,

we'll have the kickoff party for the Mock Hunt at Fabulous Fern's in

St. Paul in the Blair Arcade building on Selby and Western. We have

the private room in the back. However, since we'll be expecting a

large crowd, we'll have to use a limited menu. Just to let you know

what the options will be, we have:

Fern's Burger- Cheddar cheese, sauteed, mushrooms, and onions served

with fries. $7.95

Chicken Dijon Sandwich- Panko breaded chicken breast, lightly fried

and served with dijon mayonnaise and fries. $7.95

Turkey and Swiss Croissant Sandwich- Turkey, Swiss, and mayonnaise

and fries. $7.95

The plan is to originally meet in the bar area starting around 5pm.

They have another party at 2pm that should be clearing out and we

should have the room by 5:30. We'll plan to get settled in there by

6:00pm, give out the clue, and then do dinner. If none of the above

options sound appealing, you could always order your dinner in the

bar at 5 off the regular menu.

Again, the prize for the hunt will be $500 if you're a registered

hunter and $100 if you're not. To be a registered hunter you just

have to contribute $10 or more towards the pot (could be cash or

prizes). If there's any money left over, we'll roll it over to the

next mock hunt and the person that does that will be determined by

the winner of this one.

If St. Paul is the Martyr, could the stock be referring to the St. Paul stockyards....a Lock and dam could be the lock holding the key....

Here's where St. Paul and Pirates connect..

The Pirate Ship Matriarch's Motto

The motto of the pirate ship Matriarch, "Test everything. Hold fast to what is good," comes from Saint Paul's first letter to Thessalonika (5:21) in the New Testament. Since all the crew members are Catholic and have a reverent attitude toward sacred Scripture, the epistles of Paul (who calls the Word of God "the sword of the Spirit") were a perfect source. This particular passage clearly describes our looting intention.
