Facebook has been banned from computers at work - blocked at the server level - not even enabled for breaks or after hours.
We had several office support ladies warned repeatedly to stop using it during company time. Apparently they didn't have a clue that waiting for a phone call or e-mail is STILL company time if you are on the clock. I only used it during breaks, while some of these people had it running all day long, even after repeated warnings. I would call them 'Addicts' but I think 'Clueless' would be a better adjective. I still see them wandering around the building text messaging on their cell phones. Someone is going to step in front of a forklift pretty soon.
Funny thing is, one of the managers from the other building stopped by my area and commented that all the ladies there seem to be PMS-ing at the same time. He didn't use Facebook and had no idea about the ban. Clueless again.
I don't mean to sound arrogant, but do you ever get the feeling you have a better grip on reality than most of the people you interact with in your daily life?
No win scenarios. Having to make decisions where either way you upset someone....
Good thing I never put people in that place myself. It's tough making most decisions, as most any way you ever go, someone is going to complain about it. Yes, I know, it's ironic for me to complain about people complaining.. Heh.
The noise from msp airport. I think I should be compensated for all the loud crap they dish out on a daily basis. Maybe its because its the first day this summer that I've had my windows open and also sitting in my hammock. But what makes it ok for them to litter our air with loud trashy noise when we can get put in jail for a firecracker that goes pop for a milisecond?
The economy is so bad that: I received a pre-declined credit card in the mail. CEO's are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. A picture is now only worth 200 words. They renamed Wall Street " Wal-Mart Street". Finally, I called the Suicide Hotline... I got a call center in Pakistan and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
true dat. although i don't think anyone's actually complaining about the elections ad much as the mindless bickering that always happens on all sides. if campaigning were a football game there wouldn't be any players on the field because it would be littered with penalty flags and ejections for unsportsmanlike conduct.
In 1827 supporters in both the Adams and Jackson camps began concerted efforts to undermine the character of the opponent.
and thus we have the problem with campaigns as a whole. no one touts their plans, instead relying on winning votes by character assinations on the other(s). i guess that's human nature. take patton (or at least the george c. scott interpretation of him, since the quote is misattributed) for instance. "no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. he won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his". same thing's true in politics.
The Carthaginians defending the city were attacked by three Roman legions. The Carthaginians were proud and brave but they couldn't hold. They were massacred. Arab women stripped them of their tunics and their swords and lances. The soldiers lay naked in the sun. Two thousand years ago. I was here.
Love this I keep seeing the same Tattoo shops on Craigslist seeking Tattoo artists but non want to teach an apprentice this is what happens when no new tattoo artists get trained a shortage of artists.
after pulling all that wire through all that conduit, i've got to pull a ground conductor through most of it now too, which makes sense, and i should have known better than to rely on the flex as the ground since experience has shown at that end of the house the flex isn't a reliable ground. the downside is that i'm going to have to pull a good chunk of that wire back out in order to get the ground in place. fucker.
most of it isn't too bad to do. just the outlets in the wall with the fireplace (where the flex goes back from the box and makes a sharp 90 degree turn followed by another within about 2 more feet. my biggest pain with all of this is a lack of light in the evenings when i get home from work.
If there's wire in the conduit now, just use it (or just one) to pull a fish tape through and then hook the new wires you need to the fish tape and pull everything back into the conduit. You can get fish tapes fairly cheap at Home Depot.
