Never used them. I guess I just searched for BTs the old fashioned way. Granted with Megaupload getting taken out, file sharing is going to go further underground on the net.
I've toyed with the idea of starting to use Tor myself, with things like Sopa/Pipa on the horizon, I'm getting a little more leery of being tracked on the net.
That's the part I'm trying to avoid. I guess its time to figure out what the next big thing is gonna be now that the bts are going the way of the dodo and napster
I have a big irritate today. I was just awakened from a dream where I was at a concert. I then remembered that I spaced our lenny kravitz concert that was last night. Good seats too! I can't believe we both forgot about him. Both of our minds are just too full lately I guess. Brad sad :frown:
I don't think BTs are going away, the entire premise makes them very hard to shut down. All they can do is go after the biggest offenders (mainly the sites that host the torrent files).
They'll just be a little tougher to find. Honestly though, I was talking with a friend of mine about this a few weeks ago. If the major networks got their collective butts together, they could make use of streaming video like some are doing and offer all of their programming online. I really think advertisers would jump on it, because online advertising is much more engaging than a TV commercial. I guess the only thing holding them back is contracts and deals with broadcast companies.
Finding a way to turn the utterly useless screensaver off on my Kindle, only to find out turning it off drains the batteries in a few days time.
Talk about ironic. I guess there's more to the screen saver than just advertisements and "protecting" an eink screen (hah, that was the worst joke about it).
I guess if I want to do things properly, I'm going to have to figure out how to shut the screen saver off while still enabling the device to "sleep".
Irritating... insecure women. I have to shake my head and laugh everytime I try to have a benign conversation with a male on public facebook page/wall and their girlfriend/wife has to butt in and do the whole "sweetie, I love you post" just to let all females know he's taken. :eyeroll: Sheesh... it's the online version of marking your territory.
Uggh... if your man is untrustworthy get rid of him. If you're so insecure that you need to keep tabs on him, get a shrink. Your pathetic insecurity and control freak nature is not going to keep him attracted to you and will drive him away.
I think I need to switch browsers. Internet Explorer totally switched up the tool bar and put the favorites, history, and feeds in a different place with tabs. I could deal with the changes it's just sometimes your favorites show up and sometimes they don't and you have to scroll through history files to find them.
Sunny (a.k.a. Wabbit Hutch) was diagnosed this week with some form of Colon Cancer. What road lies ahead is still not clear, and probably won't be for a few days until all the testing and results are done.
She canceled her Ableminds account a couple weeks ago, so sending her messages in here will probably fall on deaf ears. She's a very private/independent woman and not very religious; but she is also a lifelong medallion hunter and knows a lot of people in here. Any good thoughts/prayers sent her way will probably help. I know she's been slogged with a lot of phone calls, so please don't add to the tension right now.
Sunny just posted on Facebook that it's stage IV and has metastasized to her liver and both lungs. :frown: She's a fighter. If anyone can beat this, it's her.
Lazy-ass co-workers who leave 15 minutes early to idle their car in the parking lot so they don't have to brush off the half-millimeter of show dusted on the windshield. Doesn't help that they all drive crappy POS vehicles with missing exhaust pipes and mufflers. Sounds more like a demolition derby than 'snowmageddon'.
ok i'm just gonna say screw the profanity clause of the code of conduct and quote george vi in his stuttering training: shit fuck bugger. (regarding the cancer discussion).
Had one of those moments this morning when you feel like somebody is trying to tell me something...
A Facebook friend told me her daughter was going to be on K102 doing song intros sometime this week - part of a contest they had at their elementary school. I'm not a country fan, and avoid K102 as much as possible. On a whim, in the Burger King drive-thru, I changed the channel to K102 - this song is all that I heard...
I got survey with a chance to win a ipad2 (which today is now outdated, and all apple fans will turn their noses up at) from taco bell. Went and filled in all the information they want to know on the website, and when completed I got a "Sorry, you are not a finalist to enter the drawing for an ipad2".
Wow, I suck so bad that I didn't even get a chance to be in the drawing with hundreds of thousands of other survey suckers. That's a new level of low.
Nobody, I just don't personally find it in good taste to start hunting on the last clue when nearly everyone else has been out at the park for countless hours and days. I like Rob and all but am kind of glad I wasn't at the park at that moment.
I was there when he found it. Id be hard pressed to say he was hunting. We stood around and talked about how it was a needle in the haystack and he walked over about 15 feet and looked at the ground and picked it up that fast. Must not have been hidden very well after it was "Checked on" and "verified" this morning, and after all the postings by AW about how it was hidden.
I know that it would take me a bit to drive all that way to hunt. Thus why he wasn't registered. But after us schmucks can't find the thing after all those hours I would think that I might as well give it a try since it's telling you where to dig. How hard can it be? Plus it's a great excuse to enjoy a 75 degree day in March. Kudos Rob.
Although I know all of us walked over it many times to say the least. That's why it stings a bit but that's how it goes.
I'm glad I didn't find it, as I honestly don't think I participate enough in AW's hunt to warrant ever finding it. In fact, if I ever did, I'd just leave it there for the next person. But that's my own personal feelings, not a jab at anyone else. It's mostly because I'm such a slacker when it comes to that hunt that the only way I would find it is by literally tripping over it while out taking a walk in a random park.
Edit: Oh wait, that's right, I did find it when I was sleep walking, per my post in the hunt thread, I had it under my pillow until last night after AW said he went to check the spot and wasn't sure if it was there anymore. So I felt bad about it and went out and dropped it. Yeah.. that's it...
Liar. I found it four days ago and took it home to make counterfeit copies with Cluemaster's phone number on the back. Some of you might have noticed the crushed root beer can I used to mark its place?
Dealing with getting my divorce moving is stressful enough but now:
My mom may be kicked off the trial drug for treatment of her cancer, because the drug caused a rash. They checked the rash and it's nothing, but while looking at the rash found 5 more odd skins lesions (3 were cancerous).. those are now gone, but the drug company is thinking of taking her off their test - and the new drug was working!!
Next my uncle goes into the hospital late last week because of an infection that set in after a surgery earlier in the week (due to complications from previous prostate cancer that was in remission)... they had to cut out the infection which basically removed most of his manhood area - he died earlier today from a massive heart attack while in his drug induced coma.
Now while spreading the news to family about his death discovered that my cousins 14yr old daughter, who already has diabetes and scoliosis(sp?) was just diagnosed with Thyroid cancer.
Can I please have something happy happen with me soon?

J sad too

It's much easier dragging that around than 5 books, papers, clues, etc.
I can look at maps on it ok, not perfect, but good enough.

It's not all bad- on the flip side as a receiver of said 'attention' - some of it gets old, it doesn't have to be all the time.
Personally, I have it installed, just because it's a pain to uninstall, but I only use it as a weapon of last resort.
If you're looking for replacement recommendations, I would suggest Chrome or Firefox, either one seem to function decently for me.
