"to all that remains of a tree" may not be a stump; something built of wood would also be the remains of a tree

I didn't realize there was a flower bed in that loop despite walking through there several times in the past few days.

There is a big bend in the trail as you approach the river.  That may fit better with the "wend" wording.

no.. it's not that far in... it's just as you enter the trails where the turn around is... not far from there is where the downed tree or trees for that matter is.

Theres nothing more to do than go and find the thing next to the tree and if you dont know which one than dont bother asking.

Now I have to decide whether to go down there or not. I'm tempted not to since this seems to be indicating the same area I've been looking in all along. Although not that I was looking all that hard before.

aw I can only imagine the rush that's down there right now.... that's why I'm staying away. it's too far of a drive for me.. I'm up in White Bear Lake.. takes me almost 25 min just to get down there.

lots of stumps, yes, but don't waste time digging them until after you've gone around a bend. not that this reduces the searching area one bit...

I don't think it's real close to a path either. I think the paths just indicate the general area.

I don't know that it has to be a stump. I think it could also be the fallen tree itself. I still think it's not too far from the bridge.

I would say it's more to the left.... but it's really hard to say. I was out there at night on those trails during the beginning of the week.. but now that I think about it, if it's closer to the lake, you'd go to the right rather than the left. Oh hell ... I dunno... but I think that's where the helter skelter part comes in because ya don't know which way to go!

We walked the trails all the way to the east side of the park where 35E comes in and Lilydale sign can be seen I don't think it's over there too far off the beaten trails but it sure is a "lonely area

I'm going to say take the path from the far end of the parking lot. If you take the trail north of the lake, you'll encounter (theoretically) the many numbered posts on many sides of the lake that direct your attention to various kinds of flowers that are not there anymore. This path will take a bend as you hit the boardwalk and take you to the trails in the woods where medallion fever has been brewing. I think you'll even cross the bridge along that trail. And there are lots of fallen trees there. It's in the area between Homer and Springfield and you can see the solid shelter from there. The once blue pond is off to your left as you enter the woods. It's somewhere in that area under a fallen tree or in a stump.

It's still to vague.  It will go to the last clue I bet and whoever can run the fastest (which leaves my big behind out of the race) hehe

Maybe each of us should choose a post, carry cellphones, and we have a caller call the one at the right spot.

If you go east of the shelter thru the parking lot and the wild flower plantings then down the path, the path splits left or right(where the lake is visable)Go right and follow that path. You will come upon it it is a hike though

Toomuch if you walk down the path just past the first lake there is a small sitting shelter , go another 100 yards and u cant miss it , seems kindof early in the clues to pinpoint though , gotta be many paces from the big fella !

So I think the million dollar question is: Does the clue tell us that before we get to the trail there should be no flowers to see, or does it tell us that along the trail you'll see no flowers? In other words, is it important to start along the trail from the fire shelter or from the round-a-bout?

It's a little south of Crosby lake on the west end of it. You can see it on the link posted a while back.

I agree Allison, but apparently some people would rather party than dig or get rested for a full day of digging.

Go figure.

At least they're having a good time!
