Message I got from Steve:

Capture the Flag begins on August 15th.

It looks like I have another opportunity to peddle my little park book. I think I may hunt for this thing, too.

I sent him an email asking if his cd is done...

I was worried this A.M. I couldn't find the clue in the paper for about 4-5 mins....I figured geez..If I can't find a clue I might as well just quit now...

I'm just a little worried...

I'm a little concerned about this hunt....I'm concerned because I feel that the "adult" hunters will not be in full force to keep an eye on the parks.....I'm worried that this will turn into a teenager hunt that could create some issues.

I'm also worried that we will not have a full force of normal hunters....I feel that the coolercrew and other hardcore medallion hunters have always truely been the safeguards of the WinterCarnival Medallion hunt....I just hope/pray this goes off o.k.

O.K....I'm not just a little worried...I've got a lot of big fears....so I think that it is the coolercrew duty to find this by the 4th clue!!!!

If its at phalen, you dont gotta worry about keeping the park safe.... theres been a crapload of cops out there the past few nights for whatever reason.....

I know because Ive had to deal with a couple of them myself, while out for walks.....

KITCH

well...

prize is worth about 4 or 5k (higher depending on road trip)..so I'd think the clues could be tricky...

My thoughts so far. High time can be a few things. Highland Park area, either the park itself or a smaller park in the neighborhood. Highwood Hills park. Also High time being a clock tower, such as I think the Landmark building may have.
Mon, 08/15/2005 - 6:13 AM Permalink
KITCH

Ok...maybe it wasn't as simple as what I thought...

I thought of HighTime-being the clock tower at Mears..

is there a bar called Hy-tymes???
Mon, 08/15/2005 - 6:22 AM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

There could be a bar or business with the name of "High Times" or a variation. Or it could be something regarding "Noon", which seems to be the high time.
Mon, 08/15/2005 - 6:24 AM Permalink
KITCH

hmm...didn't think of the "noon" thing...

good noodle

also I can't think of any "sundials" in parks...

its going to take me a day or two to get skills back in shape

ThoseMedallingKids

There are a few sundials in parks. Duluth & Case had one I think. Can't remember the other ones offhand.

"high time" ....highschool? with a clock..

I'm going to need to do a driveby on Highland today...

anyclock would do...

Prospect has a sundial. Not too far from the "High" bridge.

I feel like an idiot...how did I forget...geez...that is what I get for not spending 2 weeks ahead of time re-reading my mapbook.

I dont know why, but whenever I hear "sundial" I automatically think of the "bad park".....

I predict next clue will say something like "como'n over and start looking"

Found out I have to stay late tonight at work. Sucks.. I'll probably take an extended break though, as the task can be done anytime after hours.

hmmm.. where to go look tonight.. I'm close to como and highland...
Mon, 08/15/2005 - 9:31 AM Permalink
KITCH

well...

I'm really impressed with OT!!!

holy crap......I went to go take a look at prospect park just cause I was confused about the sundial...

I thought I knew the park....the main reason I thought it could be a good possiblity was cuz of the Highbridge and the Landmark clock DT...

wow...even after getting out of my car walking around I almost missed the sundial...

who would have thought they make a sundial out of playground equipment plastic...

makes me wonder how many more in st. paul.

Learning more and more every day!

KITCH

My mind is a mess with all the parks that I know...its WAY 2 MANY!!!!

At times all these hunts just confused the crap out of me....but I'm learning how to go on instints....

such as the Rosemount hunt...I felt like I was getting suckered into the traintracks....after I thought about it....I realized there is a lot of playground with fake trains on them....sure enough I was right!!!

Well, thank you sir! :goofy: I've been trying to make the WC clues fit Prospect for years. But I'm afraid the days of finding it in a small park are over.

I love when it's just a little cool. I'm more of a fall person anyways. I like a slight wind... little chill but clear days.
Mon, 08/15/2005 - 2:56 PM Permalink
Wicked Nick

yeah hey.... you think if it starts snowing... say maybe tonight or something... they'll just amuse us all and add 5 more clues....and 10 grand to the mix....and call this the winter carnival hunt????

anyhow.... ended up at Highland, as well as downtown at mears, and rice, just for kicks.... and Mounds, mainly because I was going through there on my bike anyways...

didnt find any flag, but I did find 20 bux at Mounds.... I guess that was pretty sweet

cool nick

I drove down to Mears and Rice as well. Now settling back with a beer.

That first clue sounds like Como or Rice.

Mears does have 2 clocks- there is one inside Galtier Plaza that you can see from the park-as many of us recall...thats where Marley, Scott and Art sat and watched us from.

Just last night I had a dream that Davids hunt had a clue that had a sentence with "com over" hidden in it (I just don't recall the rest of the clue). I find it a tad bit interesting that the rules tell us to stay off the golf course, away from the conservatory AND Japanese gardens and water of Como lake. So either the park will be similar to Como with some of those things in it or its there. Just like when there was a capitol clue but it wasn't on capitol grounds, which we were told to stay away from.

I have nothing better to do tonight so I just may drive down to the pp and see if they will sell me a newspaper

KITCH

Me2...double check the paper box out front at midnight...I know they do that during the hunt after Gary they lock the front door....

maybe just maybe that is the first place they put a printing of the paper...

hmmm...I'm going to need to poke around on this one 2mrw...

we really got caught offguard on this hunt....not like me :frown:
