2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

Terry

I didn't get the email notice either. I checked my junk/spam box and it didn't end up there. I've checked my account to be sure the box is checked and it is. I know some people got it.

Obviously something isn't working right.

Did anyone else find it extremely odd that the person who runs the FB board did not know the hotline number? Someone asked, and the response was......."I don't know, I will get back to you on Monday." Of course, another poster provided the info within minutes, but, seems like that would be the one tidbit the person might want to have on hand before Monday.

Yes, I checked main account on MaPress and I have the correct box checked. Glad I am not the only one....

...and did anyone mention/post the obvious Bob Dylan reference in the song clue?

I had the dream...............the hunting dream.

No, not THE HUNTING GAME dream - that would be scary, but a medallion hunting dream.

I was in a auditorium with all of you'all CC folks and John Brewer came up to the mike and said....."everything you have ever known about the hunt can be thrown out the window! All of your ploys and schemes will not find the medallion this year. This year is a hunt like no other!" A hush drew over the crowd and he said, " Expect the unexpected, Cooler Crew."

I actually thought Neil Young with the Guitar Harmonica combo.

The St Paul History Center has that big 1968 exhibit and Dylan is also from that era.

Neil Young? Hmmm, maybe.

Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited.

Just what popped into my head. Who knows at this point in the game. Good point though about the history center exhibit.

I think I mentioned the 61 connection with that singing clue. That would, of course, bring BC, IM, Phalen and Keller into the mix...but with tonight's clue, we may find it's the same singer - or a different one. It may not mean anything.

My 3 cents worth. Clue one. It's in a park. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee. Park. It's in one.

Is there a second clue within clue one? If there is, it's the awkward reference to

golf. Wee know it's not on a golf course. Wee ask "on a course-leave no mark"? Any other golf courses non-traditional that leave us to hunt on them? Frisbee golf. Treasure hidden on a (frisbee)golf course- leave no mark to find. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...Pure adrenalin.

Re-newed for the year and finally caught up on posts!

Good to see all the new and old 'heads, on-line and at the PDG!

We got out to a couple parks today before heading back north, found the typical - softballs and golfballs and frozen clothing, along with plenty of bottles, cans and trash. No medallions, mini or otherwise, and so far no dead animals...

Remind me, hopslam to hook up with you with a bunch of homebrew questions at the end of the hunt. I'm beer's newest bigest fan.

Was out at Phalen today. Ran into a crew that had picked up a few mini's. "Once you know what they look like,” they said, " you can't miss them!". Well, I know what they look like. But we couldn't find any. Not good for the hunter's ego.

Does anyone know how well they hid them? Are they just tossed out in the open or are they actually hidden?

I read somewhere that they are under picnic benches, stuck in the Y of a tree, but not hard to find as they are fairly visible. I understand they are a little smaller than the PP medallion and blue with white printing.

My son was out a Crosby today doing a fishing deal with a group (he's a US park ranger) and someone came up to him and asked if he knew where the WC medallion was. He found that oddly fascinating. First that anyone would think he knew, second that he would tell anyone if he knew, and third that someone was out looking at clue 1.

I went out today for the first time ever on clue one, but I was honestly more looking for the Pirate Dallions. Spent about an hour out at Phalen with the girls but didn't find anything. Drats I really hope I am able to find one or two I'd like to take the girls to see this it sounds interesting, yes I know I could pay but on my budget we wouldn't end up going. Oh well oh and FYI we found many interesting items the most interesting was the dead 1/2 rabbit stuck in a tree trunk and the shower shoes down by the dock.

I couldn't bring myself to head out tonight, weather was a bit too crappy for my tastes, plus I had one heck of a headache. I drove around Phalen at lunch, noticed quite a few people out there.

Hopefully I can get out this week to go looking, otherwise I'll try on Saturday. If nothing else, it'd be nice to find a few pirate medallions.

Also, I noticed they haven't done a video clue reading yet, kind of strange.

So, does anyone think THE medallion will have a few pirate medallions with it?

Today felt like a good day to hibernate, watch the new cubs born up near Ely, get some odds and ends done so the house can fall apart this next couple weeks a bit more slowly, did some laundry, dishes, had dinner and took a short nap.

Yea with 30.00 a head for the exhibit I have to agree with kids would be nice to find some! Hopefully we can all walk out with at least one found each, wishful thinking I know!

Too Funny, Terry. That is totally what I am thinking....do enough cleaning so the house can make it two weeks without me. It turns into a sty fast, but who cares, we never have company.

I totally understand where you are coming from, seems like a lot of folks are feeling that lately. I think today's weather didn't help much!
