I think he needs to appologize to the whole forum.

i think she's got a great point in that too. honestly, had there not been 5th amendment issues with nick, it would have been appropriate for him as well. but since he did admit it, i think he ought to have to publically admit it, given that the edit was discussed in public.

what was the gist of it, kitch?

and we should tack on that it is our policy to not edit posts except for violations of the above, and that the person edited will be notifed.

I really wanted to cut/copy/paste it...

my understanding of it is this...

the reason "non paying" members can search and read our post is because most of our access lists are all screwed up...

they are not cloned from the top thread....

I think the only way to fix this is to "block" guests on each of them...

(I've got no host access anywhere) (so I can't play with it today)

I don't think we can force anyone to apologize.

We, as moderators could apologize that this occurred among our ranks and hope that the offender comes forward to also apologize.

But forcing him to publicly apologize is just simply dragging this issue to new heights and is much like two year olds fighting and a parent tells the one that started it to say sorry.

Ever hear the result of that? Often the "sorry" is followed by even more mean spiritedness.

when I was logged into "dr. clue" all I had to do was search for "redbear" and I could read the thread.

I did the same thing by searching for "Clue #2"

last nite...

OTiS told me he was going to say sorry...but it wasn't going to be much...

I'm not sure if he's alrdy did so or not.

That has to be his choice. I don't think we need anymore drama by forcing that issue.

For a good time - read Soucheray's column today.

i've not looked, but it would be mighty decent of him to voluntarily do so.

although honestly, after this i have my doubts about how much he'll voluntarily be around this folder anyway.

With the help of the site sysop, we found who the moderator is that edited OTs post. That moderator was given the chance to admit the deed, which he did.

I like all of it but I'd like to change this sentence to read:

'The moderator that made the edit has admitted to doing so.'

Works for me.

We all good then?

Mods?

With that question, it brings up another question for us. How long should we set to act on certain things of this nature? Meaning that it's seldom that all 5 of us are on here at once when an approval question is asked.

I gave 10 minutes last night but wasn't sure if that was enough for TMK or Kitch to respond.

Should it just be if 3 of us respond then go forward? Or what? Ideas?

3 would make a majority so I could be good with that.

works for me too. and after thinking about it, we should apologize as moderators for what happened.

thanks....

yup, terry.

will do, kitch.

most of the folders and threads don't have their own separate access lists. so this should be quick. i hope

i'm explicitly removing people who are in the paid group from the access lists, considering they're covered in the paid group which is already in there.

this means thx, green, camocrue68, lilman, stallion, nick, and queen malley (and any others i come across). keeps the acl's down to a black list. (speaking of the black list, should i remove the unpaid aliases from the list as well?

next thing. each of the "dead hunts" has its own acl (with dr. clue as a particpant, which i assume is why it could be found in a search). shall i just have those threads revert to the top level access list now that the hunt is "dead"?

3 in agreement is sufficient, imho. some things can wait until we've all had a say in them; others can't and shouldn't. and unfortunately, its got to be a gut feeling on the part of those of us who are in at the time; can't be somehting set in stone.

We would like to thank OT for bringing this issue to our attention. We want to be clear that she, in no way, posted anything that was against our Code of Conduct.

The moderator that made the edit has admitted to doing so.

The moderators had agreed previously that no posts be edited or removed without input from the other moderators, unless there was a compelling reason to do so. The compelling reason for doing so would need to be extremes. An example would be the posting of pornographic material.

The person responsible for editing OTs post did not abide by the agreement made regarding the editing of posts and has removed himself as moderator.

We are all sorry and regret that this has occurred

OK?

I'd also like to PM OT to let her know that we will post something in RedBears thread but the moderator who was responsible for the edit needs to apologize himself.

I think 3 is a good start. I say we can always change a decision afterwards. 3 is a good start, but there's probably going to be things where we'll need a good discussion that will take time.

sounds good to me, ccm.

and then we can edit the coc thread to post who the 5 moderators are.

Looks good.

Just so it doesn't look like we're pointing fingers and giving OTS a chance to apologize without being singled out, let's hold up on editing the code of conduct stuff.

OK< at the top level I created a new access list. You are a host.

Paid group are participants

All other users have no access.

So go in there, and give access to registered users to read where you

want to allow that, and add your other hosts in there.

Mark

I just put in terry, ares, and clue master
