MOM asked me to let you know - she had Dad check, and there is a place that has that condenser for $79 + tax. I am waiting for a reply from her as to where that is - but good news!
Inks and I have spent two days and two gallons of stain doing our deck up here in the Land of Ahhhhs. All the railings are done. We will need more stain and another weekend to get the decking done.
If we ever build another deck, we will pay the extra $$$ to have the new composite deck and railings so we never have this much fun again.
Yup, picked up the condenser yesterday, got it installed today. I got a friend in Blaine who does some home garage auto repairs and has the vacuum equipment to get it fixed right. Took about 45 min to replace it, and other 45 to vacuum the lines completely dry and do a full recharge.
I drove home with nipple-hardening 45 degree air blowing me in the face. Fantastic!
Getting the condenser from that supply store saved me about $50. The whole operation was probably less than half what most repair shops would charge. Thanks Dad & Terry for the tip!
If anyone needs R-134a refrigerant this weekend - cheapest place is Fleet Farm at $6 a can. They have a limit of 6 per customer.
cooler. labor'll get ya any time. i have to do the brakes on our car one of these days and i'm not paying 120 bucks per axle to have someone do it. its a 20 minute job and with a 23 dollar set of pads i think i can handle that.
the ac problem with our van, being an electrical problem rather than mechanical, however, is a different story.
What kind of van you guys got again!!! I just fix a coamoin problem with my brothers Cirlster van!! that was Elec. if it is the same van and crap it took me 10 mins to do and did it right in the parking lot lol!!!
It's a dodge so it's the same system. Last time was thhe connection to he ac clutch. I know this is electrical too. Sometimes it works and most of the time it's out. Fortunately we only have to pay shop cost for parts.
It is called a AC resistor It is in the back side of th glove box!!! SUPPER EASY!!! IF you buy the Shop Book for it!! YOU CAN do it in About the Same time lol!! but I wont get time tell Like this weekend and then We can get together and get it done if you cna Sweat it out tell then No Pun in tended!! lol
you mean the blower motor resistor? that's working fine. the inside fan speed works fine across the board. the only fan problem we're having is the radiator fan isn't coming on with the a/c compressor like its supposed to. (it does come on when the engine is warm so we don't have to worry about overheating thank god).
It sounds like you have to pay for 2 adults only if you make advance reservations, but no mention of 2 adults necessary in one party. I see nothing that says you cannot enjoy the BWCA on your own. In fact, they encourage small groups.
You're just S.O.L. if you go solo and sprain your ankle in the middle of nowhere. I think a 'typical' small group is three canoes - six people and probably one tent.
Yes............one adult can enter the BWCAW........ however if you make a reservation you need to pay for two people and then when you pick up your permit it will be adjusted to one person and the refund will go back to the credit card that the reservation was put on.
I consider myself a fairly avid camper myself but I'm with Diggs on this one. Portaging it in the BWCA is not for the novice. I don't do it unless I'm with a group with more experienced guys than myself.
And even though I can personally vouch that me2 knows how to erect a tent, I think she may have a tough time getting one up in the coldness of the north country.
Sawbill Lake resort - on the south side of the BWCA. Each campsite is pretty much private - unless you have a neighbor with a loud outdoor generator. Camp store and outfitter shop are just a hike up the road. Everything North, West and East of the camground is BWCA - you can do daytime excursions and portages a few lakes away if you want. Plenty of BWCA experience with just a touch of civilization.
Maybe we should do a cooler crew campout up at Kellie and Gordies campgroud in the next couple weeks??!!! Their pics on Facebook, looks like they have a kick ass time! Seriously!
Ok all this talk of Me2 camping in the BWCA!!! I Got the whole Story tonight at 10!!!

sorry to hear you had soooo much fun Terry
But it looks good thus far and will be super when it's done. Done being the operative word.
I just hope the weather is decent for next weekend.
preach it!
one of the things on our list is to eventually replace our decking with the stuff. of course that's many years away still...
the ac problem with our van, being an electrical problem rather than mechanical, however, is a different story.
if it is the same part GOOD LUCK FInding One!!
Sue says call her she's dying
what part did you change?
Can 1 adult enter the Boundary Waters with a permit or is there a required minimum of 2 adults?
its really bugging me

oh thats me..
now wondering about phone coverage up there.

I think thats stupid to have to pay for 2 adults if only one is planning on going.
