I'm off to Texas in the morning. Wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all you coolerheads before I head off to bed. I hope you all have a good day, however you spend it!
starting work on my annual christmas card image (I tinker with 3d computer graphics). Got a cool idea for this years card theme now, stay tuned for details as I finish it up (probably a week or two) and you just might win a christmas card from me.
I wasn't going to look in the paper for jobs today but I said what the heck and low and behold what jumps right out at me but a graphic design job for The Faribault Daily News, so I quikly sent them my cover letter and resume
Hope everyone enjoyed good friends, family, lots of fabulous food and a good nap.
My brother-in-law and father-in-law came down to share the day with us. It's the first holiday since Inks' Mom passed. It gave us a chance to be together and thankful she is out of her misery. Christmas with them will be spent out in Kerkhoven about a week before Christmas.
One of our nephews showed up unexpectedly and that sure was a blessing. He was able to stay long enough to share the meal with us before heading off to his other Grandma's.
My father-in-law is doing surprisingly well. He has goals and is getting things done around the house. Caring for her was a 24 hour a day job and now he is able to come and go as he wishes. And though he misses her, he is adjusting to life without her. It helps that he is fairly healthy and has my brother-in-law and some great neighbors that come visit frequently.
Terry, it's so refreshing to see someone come round so well after losing a loved one. One of my great aunts years ago lost her first husband, and met the most wonderful man the next year who was also a widower (they were in their 50's) and they married less than 2 years later. They were married for 27 years before he passed (she is now in her 90's) she says the fact that they both had the most wonderful first spouses, and loving healthy relationships allowed them after the death to let go and start living again. Sounds like your Father-in-law was in such r/s. That's great.
some just give up, it's so nice to see the living keep on living.
Well that was a good day. I've needed a day off for far too long, then I'll get a bunch in next week too!
BTW, I got one of those Jones Soda Holiday Packs from Target, during the afternoon I was daring and tried the stuff, here's the taste test results.
Turkey and Gravy Soda: Well, I didn't vomit, but honestly it didn't taste like turkey or gravy, and why the heck would you sweeten that taste with that sugar subsititue crap anyway.
Wild Herb Stuffing Soda: Oddly this mildly tasted drinkable. Seems to have some sorta familiar flavor, but I wasn't able to figure out what that was. Still, it was a far cry from tasting like stuffing.
Brussel Sprout Soda: Just the smell of this stuff was foul. A tiny sip of it was enough to make me wish I hadn't opened the thing. Here's the odd part though, I actually like brussel sprouts, and this stuff neither smelled nor tasted like them. I think the only slight resemblance was the color. But heck, I offered 5 bucks to my cousin if he'd drink the whole bottle. He got about half ways through and hurled, similar to that drunk puking guy that MMMikey was showing the other day. I can only imagine they were never intending on anyone actually drinking this one, as it's a fair assumption to think everyone hates brussel sprouts anyway.
Cranberry Soda: This one was actually pretty good. The only thing they screwed up was making it with that sugar substitue, but if you like diet soda, it's almost a safe bet that you would've liked this one.
Pumpkin Pie Soda: Well, it smelled like pumpkin pie spice. Kinda tasted like it too, in a sickly sweet sort of way. Again, seems like the desserts are the way to go if you're forced to drink things like this.
So there you have it, some of them are drinkable, but obviously it's not really intended nor reccomended.
Actually I like the regular jones sodas too (mainly why I bought these ones) it is an interesting concept, at least unusual. These ones are obviously just meant more for collecting, to be honest I had expected them to just be colored water with no flavor at all.
and true to form, for those who weren't watching the macy's parade, the m&m float got a little out of control and went crazy with the crowd. fortunately, she didn't seriously injure anyone.
Sheessh you miss a day or two around here and ......
watch it to the end -
Have a good trip besckie
Happy Thanksgiving!!
