Okay, I swear I'm not going to buy anything from that Sonic until they lose the rent-a-cop. The guy they had there tonight was rude.
I thought I'd wait till later in the evening when the crowds had died down. Made it there just after 10 and this guy just waves me on saying "they're closed" giving me a look like I was an idiot for even thinking they'd be open late. Uhh duh.. the commercials they've had on satellite and cable for the last I don't know how many years have all mentioned their drivethrus are open late. I'd be happy to check the store hours if you'd ever let me close enough to the building to read any signage... idiot indeed.
What other restaraunt in town seems to think they need a person in a uniform directing traffic to their establishment? I'll agree the food is good, but it's not THAT good. Sadly I drive down that portion of suburban pretty frequently and have found it really disrupting to drive around there lately.
I don't get the zoning issue, that land used to be a Taco Bell for as long as I can remember. Did the zoning change after they tore the Taco Bell down?
I read in District 1 Newspaper that they had zoned the whole area to disallow any business that would increase auto traffic. The zoning specifically denied drive-ins and such from the area. The city council thought the area was too crowded already. When Sonic applied to build, the council decided to overide the zoning rules and allow the drive-in.
Now they have the mess that they had initially zoned not to happen.
All this talk about Juicy Nookie burgers is making me hungry! I love The Nook. I also like Shamrocks given the fact that it is the same exact menu and they have way more room. I was there on a Sunday night a few weeks ago and they had an older gentlemen singing Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs. It was pretty cool. Hope all is well with everyone.
Im wondering if he didnt turn you away, because they just ran outta stuff..
I would think that might happen there occaisionally... especially right now, with all the business they're having...
you cant just drive into the place either... you've gotta go around the block, and to their "staging area".... its a parking lot for some company, a couple of buildings down the road...
they're doing that for the time being, while they're getting all the traffic....
like I said, until they ditch the rent-a-cop, I won't be patronizing them. If they can't handle the traffic, they should have found a better location, or designed the place with better access. It's supposed to be a fast food place, not wait 40 minutes or get turned away because they can't handle the volume.
I personally don't get it. I feel out of touch but seem OK about it. It's food. Who cares? I swallow, it's gone. That's why I won't wait more than 15 minutes for any seating unless they have a decent bar. I don't get it. And you'd think I would by looking at my gut and all. And for fast food nevertheless? Really don't get it now. :eyeroll:
I think I've posted stories on here about how aggrivating my (now) mother-in-law is. Today, I was supposed to have lunch with my wife. MIL shows up, apparently guilted the wife into a "girls day."
Which got wierd. I'm paying for lunch for me and Mrs. Bear, and MIL slides up to me, and says "Are those new pants?" "No." "They must be, because your tushie has never looked better."
Do you live or work in Ramsey County? Do you have a favorite place to eat or hang out in Ramsey County? Would any of these places hang a poster for the Ramsey County Fair?
If you can help me out - I'll get the posters to you - Last year I drove around to the local coffee shops, bowling alleys and video rentals places to post a poster on their community bulletin boards, but I just don't have the time this year as I am working other publicity venues.
Casper and Runyon, are their names...
If you get another craving... I highly reccomend The Nook...
they even have Hamms on tap!
they have a full fledged bar up in that piece....

Yep. They shouldn't have made the zoning exeption. Now WE will pay the price,

I thought your favorite burger was a slider?

as we're waiting for our food, we spot this guy, hiding in a corner of the parking lot, taking pictures of people and cars....
as his camera was aimed in our direction, I did what was natural, and flipped the bird....
later on, we thought maybe he was with like... the east side review or something....
so as he walks past us, I go... "Hey! Who are you with?"
"Star Trib!"
yeah....
flippin off the bad guys, and I didnt even know it...
hopefully that makes it to the paper...
So we get up to the window and give em $7.00 for my friends share, and my card..
And the guy's all.. our system isnt set up to take two forms of payment, so I cant..
Now.. I didnt have enough left to cover the three of us, so we left.
What kind of place cant take 2 forms of payment???
I'm really curious if the rent-a-cop just turned me away because he was tired of directing traffic.
Im wondering if he didnt turn you away, because they just ran outta stuff..

What's the big delay for a burger anyway - do they take ten minutes to cook to order like Culvers or something?
Props to Mr. Marketing Man - That I get
