Did anyone else hear about a free gas giveaway at Freedom by Maplewood Mall @ Noon? My roommate called and told me about it, he's got a friend that has connections in the St. Paul police, said they were getting a bunch of squads over there to direct traffic.
It would have been nice today, my tank is close to empty, however, I'm sure the lines would have made Sonic look like a walk in the park.

93X does that every so often, in the summer.... but usually its out in some suburb, where nobody wants to go, and half of the gas would be gone, by the time you got home...
Thought it was a KQRS Promo event - they announced it at 9:20 at the end of the Morning Show. Makes sense that Channel 5 would have the scoop since they are both owned/managed by Disney / ABC.
I think I've come to the conclusion in life that any good deal is going to cause such a commotion among people that it is not worth my time and energy to pursue any of them.
I think we've finally hit a point in society where communication is so easy that a rumor, or tip, or just a hint of something like free gas, cheap food, or any sort of deal or promotion will be so well known within mere seconds of the information leaking out that it will cause exactly what you see. Long lines and frustrated people. It's a miracle that with flaring tempers, fights don't break out more often.
Ok so Reg wants to go to the Taste with a group of people!! Anyone In BFG!! Is trying for Friday the 4th but I have to work I was thinking Sat the 5th!!
I didn't want to go on the 4th. I'd prefer either thursday or sunday. 1st choice would be thurs for me 2nd would be sun. I think I might be up at my uncle's cabin on Saturday. As far as crowds go, saturday will be nuckin futs too.
I got turned off by the Taste on MN several years ago, but it wasn't really the Taste's fault. Just too damn crowded when it was at the Capitol.
Once we watched the fireworks from the top of the parking ramp at Bandanna Square, and heard shots fired! That noise was definitely NOT fireworks! Sounded like a handgun being fired from the vicinity of Como Avenue. Too close for my taste!
I liked the capitol better, but it's just too crowded on the 4th to be fun. I went on the 4th either last year or the year before and I remember swearing to myself that I'd never go on that day again.
We'll be there for REO on Thursday.... probably will be back down there for the 4th, on Friday, and will also be there on Saturday for Seether.... cant wait for that...
I was torn between having people over for poker Saturday .... could do that in the afternoon though - than plan to go down to Seether and Taste in the evening. I really want to but I'm dealing with stuff that is making any plans difficult right now. Would anyone be interested in an afternoon cash game? I'm thinking maybe even an outside game if the weather is nice.
Penny and I are planning on seeing Seether and Finger 11 on Sat at the taste. She might have a girlfriend from work come with us. I'll have my phone with if anyones looking for us.

I'm not sure how everthings going down this weekend. We may have Penny's girlfreind with us or possibly her daughter and grankids too. I'll let ya know. I know we want to see the concert for sure. Hopefully we'll hook up somehow, but I can't promise at this point.

I remember gas lines in the 70s. I'm not ready to revisit that mess.

Free Admission - good music - great "affordable" food - cheap beer - Fireworks on Friday night (pretty decent) - not too crowded - and best of all ME!
