Good Morning!

It's been 24 hours since I lost internet service here. It was a problem that affected only 10 people...and I guess I got lucky with that.

It was snowing this morning when we woke up. It's covering the grassy areas pretty well and some of the trees are frosted with it as well.

We're heading back to the cities later today. Inks has to work this weekend but that will give me sometime to get a few things done there that need doing.

THX and ares - hope you both are feeling better sooner.

Ares - You best get that season pass to Spirit Mountain soon. This is the third morning out of four that I've seen snow. This could be quite the winter coming up.

Have you guys heard? We're under a winter weather advisory for 2 to 5 inches of snow by tomorrow. What a way to end a vacation!

In Minnesota, when your drivers license expires, do you get a new DL #? Or does your DL # always stay the same?

Sun, 10/20/2002 - 7:33 PM Permalink
ares

it always stays the same. the letter and the first block of 3 digits is the soundex codefor your last name, the next group of 3 digits is a coding for your first name, the second 3 is a coding for your middle name, and the last 3 code the month and day of your birth, ignoring the year of birth. i'm not sure specifically how names and dates of birth code up, but i do recall that massachusetts uses the same system, and that it was freely available from their dmv. but that was back in the early '90s. i dunno whether its still available or not.

Hmm, well I was born on this date 26 years ago. I'm not going to tell you my 3 digit code. I don't want anyone trying to steal my identity.

Also, any idea on what exactly a "SUSPEND" on a drivers license status means?

I just heard Grantsburg is expecting 9 inches of snow tonight.

hey, tmk, i know what the first 6 numbers of your drivers license are :) in part because you and i share the same first name. i don't know what the suspend means, but i'm willing to bet it means the license is somehow suspended. and all i know about finding if someone has insurance is that when i sold my old car to me2's sister i got a letter from her insurance company that she'd gotten insurance on it.

So, I've been quiet around here because I've been busy with work. Today was the first day in like three weeks that I haven't been at work at some point of the day. I've had to deal with hiring new staff, and moving our store to a different location in the mall on a week's notice. Being that I had some time off and it was my birthday, I was in a contemplative mood and had a good discussion with my fiancee.

We were looking at getting married next year. I would move out to SD there while she finished up school. A few things changed though. She realized she may be done with school earlier, like by summer of 2004. I also got promoted to managing. I feel I'm doing a fairly good job with it, and it's a good opportunity. We've decided to wait to get married until 2004. She can finish school. I can finish school myself while I work. I can save up money in the meantime, and when she graduates, we can get married, and she can move here. I think it's going to be better for us all together, although it will be hard being away from her for so long. We both feel we can handle it and will work towards making that easier. So right now it looks like I won't miss any PP hunts. Sorry guys, not getting rid of me.

That's what I figure but I'm trying to figure out what it means.

Is your car insurance valid if your license is suspended?

Can you buy a car if your license is suspended?

I can't find squat!

The DVS site says "No description available".

Sun, 10/20/2002 - 8:50 PM Permalink
ares

sounds like you've got yourself a plan there, tmk. oh yeah and uh happy birthday. or something.

as far as i know your car insurance is valid as long as you're paying for it, unless they cancel it. i also don't see any reason why you couldn't buy a car if your license was suspended. after all, you don't need a license to buy a car in the first place, at least not last time i checked anyway.

Good Morning! Happy Birthday TMK!!

Why would an insurance company insure someone whose license is suspended? That means they can't drive so why insure that non-driver?

There must be a story somewhere in all those questions.

Gotta scoot. Hard to believe this week's vacation is really over. UGH!!

Mon, 10/21/2002 - 5:58 AM Permalink
ares

i guess the important question is what's insured? the driver or the car?

Oh yeah, there's a story. I can't share it here though. Someday I'll tell you in person.

Why would an insurance company insure someone whose license is suspended? That means they can't drive so why insure that non-driver?

Well, I was thinking, even if you don't have a license, you could still own a car. Wouldn't you want to have it insured, even if you can't drive it legally.

probably because they have 366 possible days to spread out over 1000 (more than likely 999 though) possible numbers. for one thing it makes it more difficult for someone to guess your license number just given your birthday if they have the other pieces. second, it allows for 2 people named john william smith to have the same birthday and have different license numbers.
