So a pumpkin got your shoes ares?!?! Too funny! Who was the dork that kicked the pumpkin? Hehehehehehe
THX - I knew there was a story. I'll look forward to hearing it sometime.
First days back after vacations are exhausting. I was never this tired last week.
Marley - We're looking for a decent engine for the stepvan. It's parked now for the winter but if you found an exceptionally good deal, let us know. We have a few people with their eyes and ears open.
Think I'd best hit the sack. Only 4 more wake-ups till Finally Friday!
We drove through a 'California Blizzard'(which means us Minnesotans can handle it no problem!) Sunday up near Milaca/Princeton 169 and saw 1 minivan in the ditch! We ate at Milacs Casino that night. Highly recommend NOT to dine in the Northwoods dining area. I found a piece of slivered cardboard in my dinner (probly came off when they cut open the container the veggies were kept frozen in-gotta love buying frozen veggies at a restaurant!) AND a fly buzzing around the room (Its snowing outside, where do you think possibly that bug came from?...the kitchen....eeeeewwwwww...lost my appetite!) My oldest daughter claimed the corn & boxed mashed potatoes tasted funny too.
I have seen snow a few times already, and I just hope that we get a lot of it this year. I would like to see a real hunt, that goes at least 9 or 10 clues, none of these 6 clue sissy hunts. I hope the medallion is under 32 feet of snow and 4 feet of ice...
I went to work on Paul's cache so it would get approved and to place my "Another One Bites The Dust" cache (which was my old AREA 52 cache and it did not get placed - you will see why)
Anyway, I parked out at the end of that road beyond the picnic area and there were all these men sitting in their cars just waiting and waiting, sometimes getting out and heading into the woods on a dirt path. At the time it did not seem that weird to me, but there we NO women in the parking area except ME! It was lunch time and I thought maybe it was just people out enjoying their lunch breaks. Old guys, young guys, weird guys, working guys, lots and lots of MEN! Busy park today.
I had already found Robs cache and was headed over to put Lenny the Leopard travel bug in Ian's Lion cache so I went on that SAME dirt path over toward the river. Whoops!
At about 300-400 feet in I heard strange noises coming from all around me! Men in the bushes having sex. Running in fright at the sight of a bushwhacking woman with a GPS - you can imagine. Now I have seen almost everything while geocaching! You know how funny it is to see a frightened half naked guy running across your path trying to pull his pants up? I did laugh, probably shouldn't have, but I did. Several startled heads popping up out of the trees to see what the commotion was.
Crosby park is a gay cruising park. Or at least that parking area is. So glad Paul was not with me today!
The paved paths were OK, normal people walking there and all the area up to the river was OK, just that little area of woods and that dirt path by the far parking lot. Needless to say, I took the LONG way out of the woods and back to my car, and will not be back at Crosby park at noon on a Wednesday ever again.
Went back to my car and left. Thought you both might enjoy hearing about my adventure today, since it involved both your caches!
Thanks a lot Ian. My memory is now tarnished forever. I used to think that was more of a manly type park. Well I guess I was kind of right anyway. Yuk! Loring must of been filled up or something. Thanks for the heads up about the heads up and down.
IAN.......beer is in, I won't be in untill monday, if you go in before that you probably won't get a deal on it but it's up to you. It's sitting right behind the counter.
Shock, disbelief and sadness over the loss of one of the most colorful and respected politicians of our time. Regardless of one's political leaning, one can never argue that Senator Wellstone was passionate and believed in the work he did.
He and the others lost in that plane today are now in God's hands. Peace to those left behind.
The plane crashed about a mile from our place. The airport is on the next road over from ours, directly west of our place. Marley was up there, outside working, and heard the crash. He didn't know it was a plane crash until he went to leave and couldn't because they had the roads closed- they told him to go back until they came and told him it was ok to leave. He said he didn't know it was Senator Wellstone until he heard it on the Duluth radio station halfway home.
He told me when he got home and I am so bummed(to put it lightly). I recently signed up as a vounteer for his campaign, something I've never felt strongly enough to do for a candidate, and now he's gone. Its a very sad day indeed.
How horrible! I had wondered if that wasn't up near you. In fact I was thinking it probably was.
We listened to the radio all the way up here today. So sad...regardless of what political leanings one has. I was remembering the times that his fight for the little people directly affected people close to us. He may be gone, but his legacy lives on.
I'm watching the memorial service, and its truely moving. so many people of different faiths and political associations coming together with prayer and positive words.

By chance does Marley recall the approx. time he heard that? cause there is conflicting times. I gave my daughter a hug and said 'someone died today and I love you' before she went off to a Halloween party lastnight.
When I picked kids up from school I felt I would have a tough time figuring out how to tell them about it because both my girls like Norm Coleman and I didn't want them (in their naive youth) to say 'yeah, now Norm will win'. They know we pass his home every day on the way to school and he hugged their grandma and my sister. They also know how fond we are of what he had done for the look of St Paul and not raising our taxes (they are sooooo high enough) while he was mayor. They also knew we were having a tough decision with this election and who to vote for - I found it funny they were already strong in their convictions on who they liked and why they like them. My oldest daughter is extremely conservative and she is only 11!
Anyhow...turned out, when I picked them up from school, within 1/2 a block-the oldest told me that the teacher had told them what happened and they turned on the news in the classroom-my oldest said nothing bad about either candidate-I was very pleased.
Even my 1st grader was told about it by her teacher. and our neighbors kid was told by her teacher. I actually liked that they discussed it in the classroom immediately.
This morning the clouds were gone - there was a shiny bright thing in the eastern sky, an eagle soared overhead obviously enjoying the sun - and by noon it was all cloudy again. It was nice while it lasted though.
We got back late afternoon, got the recycling out to the curb, did a bit of cleaning up in the garage, had dinner and spent some time turning clocks back.
Now it's darn near bedtime again. Oh well. The weekend was a nice restful one. Too bad it's over.
This should prove to be an interesting week with all the election stuff. It's history in the making. There will be much learning about state election laws. It will be interesting to see how it all washes out.
Me2- He thought it was about 10:15 to 10:30, but could have been off a little.
I think its great that they are talking to the kids about it in school, not all parents do. I attribute my continued interest in politics to school (starting in elementary). I remember voting for Ronald Reagan in a mock election in (I think) 6th grade.
Its sad how many people I know that don't vote and take no interest at all in politics. My cousin(same age a I) told me last night that she's only voted one time and only because her parents asked her to and told her who to vote for. I wanted to strangle her! she said its boring and she never knows who to vote for. I'm torn between thinking it good that she doesn't vote because she doesn't know anything, and being mad that she doesn't understand the importance of voting and being well-informed.
(sorry about the mini-rant, but she got my dander up)
I thought you'd like that.
oh you betcha i like that. especially cuz i want revenge on the pumpkin i kicked at the race track saturday afternoon and it messed up my shoe.
Good Evening!

Joe
i dunno, terry i think it was me who kicked it. you know its bad when you start counting the days left till the next weekend on monday. :)
Good Morning!
Ares - It's a good thing. Helps one get through the week! Already we're down to three more wake=ups!
Thanks Artemis!
Better keep on keeping on here. Busy day ahead. See yaz all later!
yeah i suppose you've got yourself a point there, terry.
Goodmorning
Happy Birthday TMK!
Your growing up so fast! Pretty soon you will be out of school and married!

tim!!!! good to know you're still with us.
Hey Tim! Hope you get your wish about a longer hunt - but 4 feet of ice?!?!?!?! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Timmers!
I hope the medallion is under 32 feet of snow and 4 feet of ice...
Is there a 'til hell freezes over' joke in there somewhere? :)
no i think that would be a vikings winning the super bowl joke.
I knew there was something to read into...just working on my keen insight for the clues...you gotta read into them -ya know :)
32feet plus 4feet = 36 feet x 12 inches = 432inches
the 4 - 3 - 2 is in both feet and inches ;)
Now...can the Vikings move the football that many inches in the next game!
and in that, there's a james bond theme song....
nooooobody does...it better
That reminds me of a car commercial...anyone know the car?
not off the top of my head.
Morning Sam
Thanks ares!
you're welcome, ralph.
Hello All!
Just breezing through...still stuff to get done here.
Been a crazy mixed up hump day...but it's all ending on a high note. Good when the craziness settles into things that work out.
Goodnight, SCDs and MCL!
today's wednesday already? whoa. what happened to tuesday?
Rob and Ian --
Funny thing happened today at Crosby park!!!

Just heard about Wellstone...bad news!! I'm checking in from Ft. Wayne, an it is all that's on the news here.
:(
It is all that is on the news just about everywhere as far as I can tell. It is truely very sad news.

looks to be a slow day here.
Happy Monday Morning!

Hope you all have a way cooler day!
Morning Ralph.
Yep, probably be slow around here again today. I'm still just schocked about Wellstone and I wasn't even a supporter.
Me2- He thought it was about 10:15 to 10:30, but could have been off a little.

I remember that too! I forget what grade I was in but, I voted for Carter..... and he lost. :-(
