1998 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Hunt for the Pioneer Press medallion!

The Pioneer Press medallion has been found. Details are at our Winter Carnival page.

The hunt's over, but the discussion rages on ...

That's all I said! Just think of some of the other "stack"'s you may be able to see from CP. Clue six may not have necessarily meant the NSP smokestack. We might know if I'm right at 11:30....

....also clue six mentions a "track". Could there be something there too???

BJ!!! I'm shocked you'd be so rude as to referr to me sitting here, puffing on cigs like an NSP stack in nervous anticipation!!! For shame, for shame!!! ROFLOL!!! Good luck, guy!!!

It may be just me but I think the fun has run out!

I wish it was -25 so we could weed out all the straglers(sp).

Last year seem to be a more hearty group and a little more focused

on finding the medallion as a group but this year it has be become

all for one.

I also think they need to keep the prize money down to 1000 - 2000

to keep the people out that are in it only for the money and forget the community.

Who pulled out my soap box!

Actually, Mack, the clue doesn't say that you need to see the stack at all. Just the plume of smoke.

11:30 won't be here soon enough.

Cherokee is so trampled and the snow is all hard packed - how are we supposed to dig? There is no way we are gonna find it unless it is not on the ground.

I still can't seem to get a handle on the demo/mode/lode thingy.

I haven't been out to CP yet, but "wandering to and fro" could be a swing going back and forth, or a basketball court, or even a tennis court (double division). I would check the side where the smoke stack would be visible.

Chris, if you've the time... Please read up over the past few (about 2.5-3 hours...) and I think you'd be very pleased regarding the feelings the St. Paul area people have for their community(ies). The "Pioner Press Medallion Cooler Club" as we're loosely calling ourselves, has a wealth of emotion and feeling for their commuitiy(ies). A "mother lode" of it, in fact.

And the commeraderie (yea, a spell check next year would be WONDERFUL!!!) and closeness that is in this group has to be read to be felt and appreciated. Do, please read up. :)

demo/mode/lode could be dome/dome/lode. lode has to do with filling between rock layers. So the medallion could be between to domes.

Normally clue 10 comes out-everybody races to the park-digs frantically for 1.5 hrs -goes home pissed then on clue 11or 12 somebody from woodbury or related town drives by -sees people digging wherein they proceed to dig for first time and find clue

If you do to 'lode' what they're describing with 'demo' and 'mode', you get 'delo'.

Is there any interesting anagrams for traipsing? I noticed the word was used in the 9th clue and in Jim Walsh's diary story last night.

In clue 8, picking up the pace and winning the race could have something to do with the children's races that are held every 4th of July in Cherokee.

There is a pretty large 4th of July celebration at Cherokee every summer. The kiddies have races near the playground.

I think everyone here should distiguish themselves some how ie.white bandanna tied around head or arm....That would make the hunt really wild. What do you think???

Mon, 02/02/1998 - 10:37 PM Permalink
huntandfind

Are the races in the grass, on the street, the bike trail,...

I know, sounds like a dumb question

Mon, 02/02/1998 - 10:38 PM Permalink
JB

I'm gonna call some buds down there with the clue- heading down to CP & taking tomorrow morning off. This is the prime of the hunt!!!
