It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
MedallionStallion
I think STEVE is right about NEWELL, and clue #4. There's no way it could be there. In the past they've NEVER spelled it out this early. But perhaps they want it found earlier this year- I doubt it.
I'm telling you, it is NOT in Newell. and if it is you'd better get out there quick, cause about a billion other people have already dug it up or are going to tonight, because- DUH it seems so obvious. But I'm not personally going to waste my time other than just driving by Newell tonight
Take 94 to Snelling and go south, form there take Ford Parkway West, I think you'll just about run straight into it. Either that or continue down Snelling and Highland will be on the right . . .
I was just going through some records at the MN historical society, and 59 years ago this February the 4th, 4 people died in a car accident at the intersection of Snelling and west seventh. The article was from the Pioneer Press, could be the "blast from the past"
Mr. Barton, Things are seldom as they seem. I wouldn't be so quick to say it could ONLY be in those two parks. The clues could still be interpreted to inclued just about any park right now, have an open mind or you'll end up diggin where there's nothing to find
so far I've heard highland, battle creek, newell, and phalen. if you want to find the medallion these are the main four to sort out. does anyone know anything about battle creek or phalen.
The more I read over the last clue the more and more I come to the conclusion that they are trying to tell us to break from the normal thought. Either they've hid in a recent park, say Como. Or they are trying to tell us look in a park its never been in before. Remember we always gots ta keep an open mind, so how about a list of never been there parks:
they have to give away that it's at highland park by one of the earlier clues... has anyone seen how much ground there is to cover there???????? and it's way too early to gove away that it is at newell so i think new+well= that newell park is nearby
Regalman- Why not what, Newell? Because it's way to obvious for this early on, and because the park is so small. "well" and "new" could be clues for something totally different. SISTER- Battle Creek because in around clue #3 the last word was SHOUT, as in Battle Cry. Also because it is the closest park to the 94 and hwy 5 intersection. AND because it is close to Pigs Eye lake, which is pretty historical (past) and perhaps a "gateway" (front door) to the city.
BART- Newell park being close by, that's good. I think you could be on to something. Let's face it, "new" and "well" aren't in the clue by mistake, it HAS to be a refference, but not necisarly a refference that it is in THAT particular park.
We brought up Pigs Eye park back on the 2nd clue, but no one responded with any info, and I can't seem to find any out there on the web. So once again a plea for info about Pigs Eye Park. Is there road access?? Does it have picnic tables, volleyball, softball, parking, restrooms, etc.... Someone has to have been there.
Well, diggers, it's time to go. If tonight's clue is good, I'll be out tonight. I'll be the guy with the Bronco hat, shovel in one hand, Med in the other.

Oooohhhhhhhttttttaaaaayyyyy.... I'm laying bock in the weeds now...
They That Slog Not Are here...
Ittiz a genetical defect - I no can handle!
"Asta la vista, baby!"
Chris it's gotta be newell or highland
well what about wheelock whitney
how do we get to highland from White Bear Lake? Should we get on 94? and where from there?
See ya later.

The ONLY parks it could POSSIBLY be at given the heavily loaded clue #4 is HIGHLAND OR NEWELL!!!! GET THIS THROUGH YOUR SKULLS PEOPLE!!!
I would just like to remind people about last year, where everyone early on seemed to "know" that it was at Mounds...
Take 94 to Snelling and go south, form there take Ford Parkway West, I think you'll just about run straight into it. Either that or continue down Snelling and Highland will be on the right . . .
Jeloba
get to Highland
35E south to 94 west to Snelling (go South)
It will be on your right (I believe the main parking area is at the corner of Ford Pkwy)
I was just going through some records at the MN historical society, and 59 years ago this February the 4th, 4 people died in a car accident at the intersection of Snelling and west seventh. The article was from the Pioneer Press, could be the "blast from the past"
they want to string this thing out as long as possible. I think 2 more clues at least to get the right park, HP STILL LOOKS GOOD
We are ready to hunt!
there is a great big statue of an indian in the Court House now that is an iconoclast. it is in the court house....:) so don't get caught
Hey, if you're going south on snelling to Highland, then it will be on the left. On the right will be the high school.
medstallion why not
wow can you say coincidence thats really bizarre dave
Stalion - What's your thinking about Battle Creek?
Thank you, and happy hunting, maybe will see some of you at highland, gotta go !
Hey Kids, go easy on us Mounds Fools. I was so positive it was there. *sigh*

We believe you Bart

I like the reference to Newell, but does anyone know how Clue No. 2 would fit Newell?
I have Phalen crossed off my list. But the others are still there.
The hidden hill in the NE corner, known as devils den, popular for sledding and biking

Usually stuck on highland so we only have to walk 2 blocks to look every year, at least for the first 5 clues. :)
Interesting thought, Dave, and fantastic research. "Studying the past", "Value" in the "New", and iconoclast. I like it.
Changing icon
This is my first year stuck at Highland, but I wish it weren't there. It's too far from home.
regalman are you out there? I have some ?'s
BART- Newell park being close by, that's good. I think you could be on to something. Let's face it, "new" and "well" aren't in the clue by mistake, it HAS to be a refference, but not necisarly a refference that it is in THAT particular park.
so the new park could be pigs eye. Anyone got something to say about battle creek.
