Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

What does iconoclast mean?

Hi Green. I've been sloggin' - nothing definate yet. Newell adds up, but it seems so darn early for such a direct clue (value as WELL in the NEW). I may head out there late tonight. Tonight's clue will determine that.

I have been out driving out looking for the three guys who always seem to be on the right spot. A lot of times, they wear camauflage clothing, but they always know what the clues mean. Have been to a lot of parks, and have not seen any of them. The only time I start looking is when I see them out in a park. I know they know the guy that drives the Winnebago, and they know a lot of other people who have found the treasure in the past, but I still haven't seen them. I am waiting until I see one of those guys. One of them drives a cadillac.

Where is Newell Park?

Hello!

Went scouting this morning and again this afternoon around Newell. Only a couple others riding around this morning. This afternoon there were probably about 12 - 15 cars parked around there with some hunters out in the park. I'm hoping tonight's clue will help zero in on an area, but I'll bet not.

Could someone fix the web crossing? Please???????? I got so frustrated last night trying to read and/or post! Looks like some good noodling was going on today.

I'm off to nap a bit. See you all later - if we can get here.

Iconoclast is the clue to where the coin is hidden. The word literally translated means "image breaker." The coin will be hidden in something that will have to be broken to get it out.

Ok, adding to the Newell thing - could the "flying downhill" in clue two refer to the giant slide at the MN State Fair, just north of Newell? Ok, the fair is also just west of Como, but.....

SueBee

The slide certainly is a popular outdoor attraction - they didn't say it had to be a winter attraction.

SueBee, Hi! I was wondering the same thing. I think it may be stretching the envelope a bit, but the same thought crossed my mind.

Bob, I can understand your reasoning, however, I just can't *see* MomPress giving that sort of clue - basically the go-ahead to smash things up! Mirrors, windows, planters, ice rinks...

Me thinks MomPress would be hanging herself and I just can't see her doing that.

Rather "going against the flow," "going against the mainstream," stuff like that.

Heck! Even walking the wrong way down a "Do Not Enter" or "One Way" street/entrance would fit the bill for iconoclast.

HELP! Someone tell me if they are having the same problem I am - every time I move off the current page by hitting recent or more etc, I get the login screen again. I'm going CRAZY having to log in every two seconds. Is this happening to anyone else? AM I ALONE IN THIS MADNESS?

Girl, no one knows, udder that the 'Press, who writes the clues.

And I *always* think that not only The Clue Writer, but MomPress and MomPlanet are ROFLOLPTPCOOSBAG at what goes on here! I know *I* I can hardly keep from dying laughing over some of the stuff I read, and I'm a Digger! LOL!!!

Terry and Green, I recognize your names from last year, I read last night that you were hunting in Newell park, Also, you mentioned you were there today. I posted on Message 3593 I think it was, my logic for it being at Highland. I am curious as to why you think it is at Newell other than Hihgland?

Ok, Green, what does ROFLOLPTPCOOSBAG mean - roll on floor laughing.....

Sue, do not EVER hit recent!!! EVER!!! Only use the "more" key at the bottom of the page - where there are actually more posts; OR double click on the last BLUE NUMBER. That will bring up that post and ANY that are following it - if there are any. DO NOT EVER HIT RECENT!!!

Well... Unless you log on and theres 350 posts to read and you do NOT want to read any but like the last ten...

SueBee... I am running into much of the same problem it is taking me for ever to just get to the page then every time I ask for new postings it tells me that it is busy and to try again later. It is starting to make me mad. Yesterday I could not even get on untill 11:20

Does anyone have a SOLID idea on the 9-5-4 thing? I have heard so many explinations I'm going nuts!!

Step, there are a bunch of ideas out there, true. Some of them you can probably dismiss, but there are a lot where you can't dismiss people's ideas. Its hard to say...

Phillip, I'm thinking - and this is only an educated guess - that the foul language is being purged when the WebCrossing goes down. If you don't like that - not being able to get in - complain. See at the bottom of the page "Email to Sysop." Ask what's going on. And if I'm correct, ride the little juvie's butt's and tell them to clean up their language!

Step - I'm leaning towards the "Well in the New" clue from today, but I'm waiting until 11:31 before I dig out my shovel. And my bet is the 9-5-4 indicate the container

Wed, 01/27/1999 - 5:31 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Yeah, I've heard them all. Even the 9-4-5 theory on those numbers representing players on a baseball team. Its early. They could mean a lot of things...

Are we thinking on the same brainwave???

Rushmore....just a play on words in the second line of today's clue led me to Newell. Don't have a clue whether that thinking is right or wrong. I always from way before the clues started thought Phalen and drove through Highland the other night as well. We should see a body of water clue soon if it's Phalen....a reference to the water towers if it's Highland.

And who knows? We might find ourselves yet in the frog pond!

Yepper. I'm not dead set on them, though. I was POSITIVE it was in Mounds last year, so I'm keeping an open mind. Highland makes a strong case for itself, and so does Phalen. Everything else seems like a reach.

Last year my alias was "Chasing Amy"

Terry, Thanks for the info. I agree, I think tonights clue will be somewhat more helpful than the last. By Friday we should know what park it is in. Last year we had CHerokee down very early. I think they are making it harder this year. Possibly it is at newell and since we got Cherokee so early last year they will make us wait and see since it is such a small park. I just think something as obvious as "well" and "new" mentioned in clue 4 is too obvious.

Does anybody if there was a person named Newell or was the park just named that...I'd like to do a little research if someone can give me a first name....

I think the scoreboard from Midway Stadium is visible from there....though I kept forgetting to look when I was there. The stadium is in view though.
