1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

I think the old and new means the the old and new pools at Highland Or, maybe the old and new water towers there.

Where is Newell Park, and what is the reasoning behind that idea?

Yes I know that. Maybe they don't care though. Lots of stuff happend 150 years ago. To go and assume that because it is the 150th they will automatically bring up taylor in the hunt will not be too helpful. Tonights clue will probably send us in the right park direction. Not to Newell.

David M -

I like either Highland or Newell.

I do not think BC, Phalen, or Como.

Did anyone stop to wonder...Why would anyone give you accurate information if they actually knew how to find the medallion. I would say that I would hold it close to the vest if I had any clue.

Unless tonights clue is "If you are in Highland you are playing it safe, People at Newell are in the wrong place." I'll be at Newell tonight

the thing that kills me is they throw 1 word in there that every one gets out their dictionary for........past hunts indicate you dont need to do that

Let's agree on a few things. The main two parks everyone is suggesting are Newell and Highland. So, the best thing to do is wait until tonight (and hopefully I can get on this time -- was denied access all night last night) and hopefully the clue will be more helpful.

dave is right newell there is plenty of out of the way places to hide a medallion its the size of a half dollar.

Andy it is a conspiracy. We just want you to go to the wrong parks so you wont be there when we find it!!!!! Ha Ha Ha. By the way who is gonna fly the black helicopter tonight.

That seems to be the idea of this discussion group... helping eachother.. actually finding it is 95% luck when everyone knows the Park anyway... So again, where is Newell park, can anyone 'clue' me in?

well if you think iconoclast means something ......you better run off to highland then.......it was there 3 years ago and at newell in 1984........which is the more likely spot?

I've been to Newell park and much of it has been looked over.. it is so hard to be digging. You don't know were to look at any parks yet. I've been to Phalen as well not many people there.

Storm, izzit you that lives near Phalen?

Who was it earlier today that posted about the [old] pump house at Phalen? And something about a *waterfall* - I *think* s/he said waterfall, but I may have that wrong. I've the info at work, but Word crashed on me (seems all systems are a'crashing lots... FIX WEBCROSSING, PLEASE!!!), and I decided to call it a day and get home.

Anyway, izz there an old well this pump(house) could have/did provide for? If so, izz there now a new well in Phalen? Too, where did this stream of water go to? Did the water "blast" outta the old well/pump? And in which direction did it go?

Another way to phrase "iconoclast" is somebuddy that goes against the grain [of the norm]. And said yet another way, somebuddy that goes against the flow [stream].

So, if you're willing to go against the flow (upstream), the treasure might belong to you...

Huummmm....

And, Edward Phalen *could* have been called an iconoclast - he was certainly a $hitz-stirrer-upper!
