It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
Sister Sister
I don't understand the connection to Newell (except New and Well - too obvious this early). What is Flying Downhill at Newell?
Iconoclast could be referring to Martin Luther - which could just be pointing to a Lutheran Church. I haven't found a dictionary yet with the word "highlander" in the definition of iconoclast.
I'll analyze whatever you'd like K.G.!!! What'll it be?????
(P.S. Mr. Cheese - I have a great T-SHirt from a Grateful Dead concert that shows rhythm guitarist Bob Weir - the rockstar wannabe - hammin' it up on stage and the caption on the bottom of the shirt reads 'Bob Weir - it ain't easy being cheesey!' Loved it! Bought it!)
I think the fourth clue tells you a name of a street in which the park is on. There could be more than one street that the park is on, this clue just tells of one though.
Regalman, you obviously haven't been to this park, nor do you have any treasure-hunting experience...lining up landmarks, especially those with little interaction in the same clue is ludicrous.
Our posse team was out last night visually scoping out parks. Two interesting tidbits to share: Phalen Park had no numbers on the entrance gates and the gates were closed. Phalen closes the entrance to the park at 11:00pm so you can't even get in that way. NO PHALEN. Como Park: Went by the slide area and there were cops there and they would not let people in the park. No COMO. Newell Park: The one thing that stood out was the KS95 tower. In clue no. 3 "954" could mean the 95 tower, but in actuallity the station number is 94.5, so the 4 would maybe be the hidden number. Clue 4 "iconoclast" is this something to do with Pierce Butler Street. Is he part of Minnesota history? Well, time to head out to Newell again for me.
Regalman - Cool your jets on the "f"enheimers. I'm serious, man. If inappropriate language continues, you run the risk of being locked out of here. I've seen it happen.
Why would the PP tell you what park it is in this early, 10000 is a lot of $ to say which park it is in this early. I don't see why everyone suddenly ruled out Highland
Using the name Columbus, a person would think you've discovered something and could tell us something new.....Newell park has been floating around this discussion for hours and hours now..
Be an iconoclast! Don't think big, I don't care how much money is at stake, the PP doesn't want to ruin the frisbee golf tourney at Highland, Como and Phalen have cops patrolling. Maybe this is the year of the small park.
Regalman, you delete your post? If not, it was deleted by PP... And the WebCrossing was just down...
Does this lead anyone to the conclusion I've come to? Now, I *know* this is a novel idea, but *maybe* if the language gets cleaned up around here, MAYBE the WebCrossing won't go down as often!!!
It's worth a try - seems everyone's getting really, really tired of not being able to get in and post.
Butler, Pierce (b. March 17, 1866, near Northfield, Minn., U.S.--d. Nov. 16, 1939, Washington, D.C.), associate justice of the United States Supreme Court (1923-39).
Nothing about him except he was very, very conservative.
Theres an Irish Pierce Butler as well. A bit more controuversial, I believe, but not much
they are probably letting us know the park right away so we don't go tearing the shit out of other parks-especially with golf courses-remember there is only 11 clues this year unlike years past with 14 or 15

KG - which park do you think the fourth clue isolates?

Search me!
I think it's in Newell Park. So, how would I get there? Same way as going to the stadium? I gotta get a map.
KG - which park do you think the fourth clue isolates?
The scoreboard at Municipal Stadium is clearly visible in some areas of Newell Park...another connection.
John F. Nelson - what street name do you think this clue is pointing to?
what if you were to line up the slide on the playground with the scoreboard of municipal and the treasure is within that line?????
It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO obvious <<<<clue contained within
Sister Sister, I think the fourth clue points to Luther Street. Because of Martin Luther who was an iconoclast.

Yo John, where is Luther Street?
Where is Luther Street, John F. Nelson. You said that you think iconoclast points to that.
Very interesting!
Just doing the Im think too that the history of the Treasue hunt it self has some thing to do with all of this
If you pace toward the NW side of Newell park you can make visual contact with a specific reference via Clues 3&4.
All you lucky dogs:
Be glad for what you got. I've looked religiously for the loot since Hidden Falls, '94, and now I'm 650 miles away in Michigan.
Ahh, the hell . . .
Find that bitch!

is there anyone else who knows the connection between Newell and 9,5 and 4 besides me and KG
GQ and myself have pinpointed the $10,000 prize...all we have to do now is go capture the damn thing before someone else does!!
GQ, the 9 baseball players, 5 basketball players , and the four pillars at the entrance of the door???
Regalman - Cool your jets on the "f"enheimers. I'm serious, man. If inappropriate language continues, you run the risk of being locked out of here. I've seen it happen.
eva the 95 tower might be a connection of many!
If we're to get a productive discussion started, we will need more people to discuss!
Deja-Vu
I am a proponent of Newell, all of the clues seem to point in that direction.

NEWELL IS TO SMALL
"But there's value as well in the new.

K G what are you talking about do you even know what you are doing?
I think they are just trying to trick us with Newell, They probably figure we will go on the Taylor pres. 150 ann. thing.
thank you floyd
Say what year did this hunt actually start?

Pierce Butler.
There are many of them. THe Minnesota one:
Butler, Pierce (b. March 17, 1866, near Northfield, Minn., U.S.--d. Nov. 16, 1939, Washington, D.C.), associate justice of the United States Supreme Court (1923-39).

your welcome regalman i think this is a set up. its a trick.
You'll know what I've been doing when you see me in the St. Paul Pioneer Press in the morning....
Hey Snake, that's what she said.
cocky enough KG, why don't you just go to newell right now and go pick it up since you "have it pinpointed"
dont even want to know what you would be doing.
The treasure hunt began in 1952.
KG, for what 1st degree murder
yeah go show your stuff K G
