What up ya'll.. I should be in bed right now.. dizzam.

But instead.. I'm on here.. so yeah..

Anyhow. Kicked ass last night hangin with ya'll at Embers..... we meant to ask ya'll too.. was the reason you ninjas picked that place, cause it had "Hennesy" in the name? If not.. its just a kick ass conincidence I guess.

Anyhow... shit... after leaving there, me and Shaggs decided to try and go find Crestview, to see if it was any good... but damned if we know... We drove around for a grip and only found some other small ass park, that wasnt any good. Dont even remember the name. Too drunk to care about it right now

SO yeah... after that we went back to shaggs crib and played video games, and then i came back here to shower and should be in bed now... instead im drinkin the last of my beer that I had... Imma hafta go get more alchomahol tomorrow, I suppose.... for the weekend or whatever. Yeah... so.. Damn.. I was gonna say somethin else.. but... screw it now, cause i'll just get bitched out for it. Whatever.
Later.

posts-Clue 7 Ideas

- (PFID:13d98a) - 09:27pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9287" of 9816

Is that the clue. Certainly a reference to the twin cities marathon which finishes at the capital. I should know, I ran it this year.

OK, I see Knight from earlier and Ridder here...Knight Ridder..is that the PP co?

Beau Trap A loose pavement under which water lodges, and which squirts up filth when trodden on, to the annoyance of the smartly dressed.

Uh
Knight Ridder has always owned the PP
When the treasure started in 1952 the treasure was hidden by editors and brothers, Daniel and Robert Ridder. They wrote the clues and hid the treasure and were the only two people who knew the treasure location
I can't believe people do not know that, thats just common knowledge

- (PFID:2fce4352) - 09:45pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9340" of 9824)

anybody else question the use of the word beau? beau usually refers to a woman's suitor, a man. whoever "she" is couldn't be a beau if you go with the technical definition

Wouldn't they capitalize the B in beau if it was Beau Bridges or the C in Carpenter. I thought of names but didn't know if the letters should be capitalized or not.
What do ya think Ter?

- (PFID:2fce440d) - 10:21pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9414" of 9830) Formerly known as catsmeow

She is Harriet Bishop. She was a school teacher and was known as quite the talker; divorced and died around 1880 slightly crippled. Her memorial portrait stands near the playground at Harriet Island. She was a leader in women’s rights (and had a girlfriend who was a carpenter). Harriet Bishop wrote several books, including Floral Home. She also opened a "Female Seminary" in 1850 and promoted women suffrage throughout her life. Harriet was of course the site of the Ice palace in 91 (see clue 3)

- (PFID:2fce440e) - 10:28pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9422" of 9830

Rose Butler...
Rid of the man...
She Divorced.
She Ran & Ran for office after
Carpenters Beau... I don't know..
She was ill with cancer or something before she died.
Almost "walker" material

This is a link to Harriet Bishop info.

- (PFID:2fce440d) - 10:32pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9427" of 9830) Formerly known as catsmeow

You can see the capital from Cherokee which is just a "peek" away up the bluff.

- (PFID:13d2dd) - 11:30pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9456" of 9830)

All of the clues are pointing to Harriet Island. I was not 100% until clue 7 arrived. I was there tonight for a short time but found nothing but I am sure it is there. Probably under a damn rock! My physical abilities probably will not let me get there again so good luck to all of you and have FUN!!!
Clue 1: Basically just tells the hunt is on. Barbs possibley referring to hooks/fishing/ the river.
Clue 2: You can see the dome from the site.
Clue 3: The enterence of the park is the Pedestrian Gateway, 20 feet wide. This is located near 3M (em em em - a forshadowing clue to be "de-ciphered" in Clue 5. The Clarence "Cap" Wigington Pavilion has been altered to accomodate for all four seasons, keeping you warm.
Clue 4: Puck reference maybe towards the Excel center, but the clues already seem to point where it is. I think it is a ruse. The red white and blue may refer to the flag on the island, but the fireworks are light on the 4th of July from the island as well as other events.
Clue 5: De-cipher the clues in general but I think it refers the the Triple E. M spelled out is em. Em Em Em. Also, this is the big one... Harriet Island renovation was scheduled to take 15 years. It was done in about 2 to 3 years depending on when people agree it really started to begin.
Clue 6: Not much in this clue. It is telling the puck is wrapped or under something. Either way, out of the natural light.
Clue 7: This one is the biggest so far. Harriet Bishop, one of the first established teachers in Minnesota, divorced her husband. Taught in a school which used to be a blacksmith's shop. Her boyfriend prior to marriage, James Humphrey, built a lavish house for her, but sold it when she refused to marry him.
She probably died (1883) with a crippling disease maybe causing her to use a walker/cane. This of which I have not been able to verify.
stolen from twincities.com and not believing it!!!!! searching elsewhere. too many people spent too much time there??including me.

- (PFID:13d410) - 11:45pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9484" of 9833) emmy & hannah's and natalies....

Tim - can't remember how to do a link here, but here is the address...

- (PFID:2fce41ce) - 11:52pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9504" of 9833)
on your mark....get set....GO!

what about rose butler - wasn't she married to Walter butler? owner of Butler construction? she ran for office several time and died old in a nursing hom?

- (PFID:13d300) - 11:56pm Jan 24, 2003 PST 9513" of 9833)

Tim - I can't find it now. Actually, it was a boyfriend, something Humphrey that built a house for her but sold it when she refused to marry him.

- (PFID:2fce3e77) - 12:04am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9532" of 9833) IT WILL BE MINE

lil i think clue #7 rid of the man she ran and ran means the mississippi and finish with a walker is by a nursing home

- (PFID:2fce4669) - 12:10am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9549" of 9834

The name of the park within railroad park was Eileen Waider. It is one block off of beaumont street and on the corner of Desoto & Tedesco. There were about 75 people there right after the clue was released tonight. There is also a North street in that area.

- (PFID:2fce4669) - 12:17am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9565" of 9834"

Oh.....Good one Lisa! There is also that Carpenter store kitty corner from Railroad Park across from a Senior Citizen Home

- (PFID:2fce4529) - 12:48am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9616" of 9835)

Weida was an activist, a wife, mother and member of the PMCC That's what it said on the stone marker

- (PFID:13d713) - 01:05am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9656" of 9835)

A carpenters beau, is that like a carpenters dream? Also, it says carpenters-plural not carpenter's as in belonging to.

- (PFID:2fce40d4) - 01:36am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9695" of 9837)

Csaa Gilbert-Sherburne and Cedar by the CAPITOL It has monuments there and Gilbert was an architec

- (PFID:2fce4607) - 02:05am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9739" of 9838)

I was reading some ST Paul history stuff and there was something about how criminal used to cross over on the high bridge (there were supposedly 2 or 3 high bridges) to Cherokee park because it was out of St Paul Police jurisdiction.

- (PFID:2fce40d4) - 02:08am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9743" of 9838)

I never read that but I know theWabasha Street Caves was were THE CASTLE ROYAL was the biggest gangster club in St.Paul at the time.
I also read that Cherokee before it was a park was a campground site for tuorists.

- (PFID:2fce46ab) - 02:59am Jan 25, 2003 PST 9795" of 9838)

Real Location IMHO
Ok, since I am stuck in Chicago this year with no chance of getting up there this weekend, I am going to try and help anyone out that I can and give you my interpretation of the clues....It is in Marydale Park.....Here's why
Clue 1--Simply tells us it is in a park
Clue 2-States that there is a spot in the park where you can see both the Capitol and the hiding spot, but probably not the Capitol FROM the hiding spot
Clue 3- Refers to the Salvation Army, 2 blocks from Marydale Park, which offers 24/7 shelter to those in need. I think there is also a bit of foreshadowing with the EEE clue, meaning IMO medallion will be found in shoe, shoebox, or partial of either
Clue 4- Coldest Star= North Star.....Why is this significant? NORTHERN Pacific RR tracks which run through Marydale Park. Red, white, blue and legions clue means that you can see the American Flag flying atop the American Legion Post located at 72 Ivy Ave, a mere block or two away off of Rice, between Maryland Ave and Arlington
Clue 5- Tough clue....My interpretation is that the 1st Bank #1 is visible....As for the 2 and 3, thinking maybe refering to the hopscotch court on the playground.....Would jive a bit with the leap clue....Still puzzled a bit on this one
Clue 6- Basically just tells us that it is under a bridge, rock, in a hollow tree stump, etc. Not laying above the surface
Clue 7- IMO, refers to poem by Mary WALKER called She ran...Here is the link "http://www.geocities.com/butterfliesbreeze/sheran.htm"
I think we are supposed to derive Mary out of this clue. As for the carpenter's beau, my initial thought is a saw, but not sure what the connection is just yet....Maybe a street reference(Sawyer?) Anyway, if the next clue refers to a famous man named Dale, I think you can start digging up the park. But if anyone wants to get a head start, there is my noodle's ammo for the Marydale argument...Sorry I couldn't join you all this year.....Have fun, be safe, and happy hunting..........Good Luck

It seems like people are still kinda scattered after clue 7- Harriet, IM, Cherokee, Swede, Eleein Weida, Marydale, Downtown/not in a park/by Cathedral, Excel etc...

I like the Harriet info,it seems to work, but technically wouldn't she have to be the carpenter- and he the beau? Or was "beau" also used commonly for women? My first thought was a famous woman with the last name Carpenter (like Terry's first post about Karen Carpenter) Mary Chapin Carpenter was the first that came to my mind, but haven't pursued that yet.
