I don't get it.

There was a computer game made in Japan that when they translated the words, it did not come out as proper English structure. Thus, the "All your base are belong to us" internet phenomenon was born. Watch OTS' link to see what I mean. OTS-On the search 4/14/05 3:45pm

The second one was a spoof based on the original one however they used the tourist of death to add a little more flavor to it.

Wow! I didn't know ducks ate robins either!

Just so you guys know and in case you missed it- I'm wise.:)

Oriongirl! I'll keep you in my prayers for a safe surgery and a quick recovery. Hey, there's not a group rate is there?:)

Masser, I'm glad all went well for you today. You were in our thoughts and prayers. I am a bit disappointed that you not gonna be the bionic man though...oh, well I can still pretend.:)

Oh damn I actually had something else...

oh yeah.

Let me first say as a disclaimer that I am not bringing this up to start any shit...THIS IS ONLY AN IDEA that I am interested in a GENERAL consensus on:

Okay-

What do you all think about switching the pre-dig to the upstairs party room at Great Waters? They will even make a beer for us and call it "Cooler Brew".

This is only an idea that I have talked with Liam about. I said that I would have to ask and get a GENERAL CONSENSUS before we could make any commitments.

Now people, lets have this discussion without fighting.:)

Having seen the upstairs area
<----- (Area not ares) that you are talking about and the facilites i.e. private bathrooms and space....I think everyone here would enjoy it.....

Just my personal opinion.

NOOOO! Ducks do not eat robins- robins eat worms like ducks!
Geeze! Do you hafta pick on me so much?

Oh- I get it- on that super turbo hemmoragic thread, you all conspired to pick on me out of hate & spite.
I'd rather a public smoting.
Or be slewn disgustingly in private by use of flesh eating leeches.
Or a roadside stoning during rush-hour with Kare11 on the scene.

I'm sorry.
Damn me once again.
Want some worms?
I have worms.

Wait. Robins eat ducks?

I figured that you would like the idea Kitch.:)

Seriosly though, the subject came up because we seem to be overcrowded at McGoverns.

Liam showed me the facilities at GW and they were really great. Lots of room for us to grow, food, our own brew etc.

I do realize there is an issue with tradition. I am not opposed to keeping it at McGovern's either.

This is just another option for us.

GW is willing to waive the rental fee. There may be an extra charge if we want food catered by them. Quite frankly I didn't get into to many specifics because I wanted everyone's opinions first.

Thu, 04/14/2005 - 7:48 PM Permalink
OTiS

I understand tradition.....and I also know crowded.

Thu, 04/14/2005 - 7:52 PM Permalink

I like it crowded ;)
actually I am not sure how or why I like a crowded CoolerCrew at pre-hash since I am closterphobic to a point.

Thu, 04/14/2005 - 7:57 PM Permalink
Grandpa Dan Zachary

Crowded was what I noticed. This past year was my first time to the pre-dig and we had a hard time moving around in that basement. Also, it is split into two rooms which seemed to split everyone up into two groups. We had a good time though.

Thu, 04/14/2005 - 7:59 PM Permalink
Terry

McGovern's has been the tradition, but it is getting overcrowded. Is this room at the Great Waters bigger than the basement level at McGovern's? Is that what I read?

If so, I'd be open to having a discussion about it. We certainly want more people to join us for the pre-dig in years coming.

OTiS

I just happen to be poking around and saw some stuff on the size..... If I'm not mistaken..... The area is L shaped....and 6 or 7 times the size of McGovern's... then again it was a quick glance... so Scribe?

I'm not sure that this would be the case, but would parking be worse there for a big crowd? Otherwise I wouldn't mind. I think Green is the one you'd have to sell on the idea.

Thu, 04/14/2005 - 8:09 PM Permalink
Terry

Parking at McGovern's has gotten progressively worse.

Allison - You might be right about Green - McGovern's has been the tradition....but we are outgrowing McGovern's.

Scribe - It would be good to know about food costs as there seemed to be plenty of folks, including us, that had our dinner during the evening.

Is this the place? The banquet room is "available for groups of 100-300 people".

I was there last Friday night after going to the Ordway. I was telling everyone I was with about how they had a patio with ice furniture and Winter Carnival Ale and so on.

Well, doesn't McGoverns always give us crap when we call to tell them we're coming (the exception being this past year with no hockey)? I always remember wondering why we keep giving them our business, but the answer has always been A) tradition and B) because there is no place else. Now that there is another place, I would be for moving it (bigger room->less smoky=maybe I won't wake up sick the next morning).

As far as parking, you have the victory ramp, the ramp for marshall fields (not sure what thats called) and there is a ground lot kitty corner from it. I think parking is actually better at GW than McGoverns.

That being said, how much is it going to suck for me if there is a cooler crew brew when I will be 20 and half... oh well :(
