The area between 2 and 3 on MD's map is fairly flat and has alot of small shrub trees. Packed snow near the trail. I saw people totally digging up a flat rise near the "X", but I don't recall what the "X" spot itself looked like yesterday. I bet it's not too close to the creek, for safety.
