RAMSEY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS? Has anyone thought of the Ramsey County Fairgrounds. I mean all the clues point to there.
There are pigs there (clue 4)
There are hills and dells there (clue 2)
There is also a skating rink, golf course, and all there as well.
This thought is out there, but it makes sense to me.
This person obviously hasn't been to the fair lately?!?!?! Hills and dells? - One Hill, One Dell that's it... and PIGS!? what pigs - unless they are talking about all the police we have out there.. :pbpt:
Is that like a rushing, torrid creek always flowing even in winter, or is the creek tame; can one drown in it if a kid fell in while hunting, for instance. At below zero weather i suppose.
Has the hunt been dangerous in the past? I don't recall, mostly in a bunch of trees lately.
This post triggered a dream I had the other night that I read there had been a pig farm on the south end of SH, and in the dream I was going to post this information here. Or was it a dream? :ooh:
I think that white spot is some kind of lady's planting that I posted about who knows how long ago. See how the trees are in a circle around that white spot? Some ladies planted some kind of tree thing, except those trees look young to me.
My SCD last night was that Reg and I were digging on a ridge, we heard it had been found, but people were so into it that they hid a second puck for $1500. I found it and gave it to Reg. Awwww! :sheepish:
You can still buy Hamm's here. Just go to the section of the beer case where the cheap beer is. For the price, it's really quite good.
It is available on tap at the Nook, and at Pop!!--and probably a bunch of other places. It has acquired kind of the same "so nerdy it's cool" vibe that Pabst has lived off the past few years.
Anyhoo, I like the Lions on the can for the Beasts.
The third annual “Watch the Glow of the Setting Sun on the Red Brick Brewery” event started in Swede Hollow Park on top of “Swede Hollow Henge” (the stones on the rise between the Drewry Lane Tunnel) around 6:00 p.m on September 28th. About thirty Friends of Swede Hollow members, neighbors, former Hamm’s brewery workers, former Swede Hollow residents, and others attended the event.
It is acutally called "Swede Hollow Henge" interesting; but no one knows what it is?
From a Dayton's Bluff lady who donated 3,000 cookbooks to Metro State University (perhaps for the Rehash Bash):
"A second recipe also sounds like a nice warming treat for this winter. At the time, IÂ’m almost sure that they used HammÂ’s, our famed local brew.
Beer Soup
1 pt. milk
1 oz. flour
1 pt. water
 ½ tsp salt
2 pts. good beer
2 eggs
3 oz. currants and a little cinnamon
Mix all together except eggs in a deep kettle and let come to a boil, stirring all of the time to prevent curdling. Take off fire. Stir a little more and add the beaten whites of eggs."
Being at work today is killing me! I cannot wait til I can get out and dig. This is always the point of the hunt where I feel bittersweet because I know one of my favorite things is almost over.
WCCO News just had an update on the Hunt: Angela Davis repeated Clue 11; said WCCO news crew were at Swede Hollow park early this morning filming hunters and said it had not been found.
All of my digging efforts thus far have been on top of the ridge near the Railway wall. Was there for a couple hours last night.
Must have been at least 100-150 people at the north end. When we called it quits we walked around closer the brewery and I got to re-thinking the clue. I think the street references were to get you to the park and tonights clue is narrowing the dig area.
level ground - flat surface
rivulet-creek
meshing with a beer refreshing- 8 foot chainlink fence protecting brewery grounds
If you take the the first two words from the 3rd and 4th lines it says "The answer's in the midst" - in the middle or between.
I think it's simply in the area between the brewery and the creek. I know that area has been dug up or trampled and packed down --- but how many times has the medellion been found in an area that has been trashed....many.
The line "a rivulet gurgles by" seems like its describing the SOUND, not the VIEW. Could that possibly mean that where it's hidden you cannot actually SEE the stream?
If you stand in the middle of that plateau on top of the small bluff - you have no view of the valley below - all you can really see is the top of the valley - the "hilly" part. You cannot even see the stream unless you climb through 10-15 feet of timber to the edge of the hill and look down - you can HEAR it, though.
Last night Redbear posted that he usually gets 50 lines or so. His post asked if people wanted to do it on Clue 11 again, so maybe he's working on that.
I can sit in line and do the call again, but someone else needs to organize everything because I have doctor appointments all afternoon. I should be able to get downtown at 8ish, which will probably be too early to line up.
I've spent many hours up in the area MadDachsund. I agree with your assessments. I've loved the sightlines up there.
It's just that every year I kick myself because I make the hiding location harder than it is. Crosby I was out in no man's land and it was less than 100 yard from the parking lot.
I know that I am writing this way after the fact, but what an amazing article you found. Even if it isn't the right park (and most of the clues seem to come right out of the article) it definitely takes the mystery out of the history. If only clue 8 could connect. Thanks for posting this.
Nothing I can do about changing the code to make it more memorable.
At this point, I have 50 lines scheduled.
What we did last year is that whomever the leader is, probably leelabell, since she volunteered, will put everybody in the field (or whereever) on mute, and so once they get the clue, they read it a couple of times and then open it up to questions.
We do need an official volutneer to be #1 in line person, PM Me and I'll give you the organizer info you'll need.
Just got back from Swede...Lots of cars parked in the area. I saw Tim and Alex. I'd guess about 100-200 people total there. It's just a mess to try to dig.
I brought my sister along for her first-ever hunt. She said it was CRAZY all those people looking for a needle in the haystack! I told her she should come back with me at midnight tonight. Unfortunately, she has a daughter that she needs to take to school early in the morning. Perhaps, I'll get my boyfriend out there with me tonight.
It's hard to believe it hasn't been found, yet, since so many of you were digging there after reading Clue #1. It makes me think it's hidden in a frozen ball of ice milk. That could take another week to locate, especially considering that it's probably already been thrown around a few times.
Thanks for setting up the conference call. I'll be on tonight. Til then, it's a nap, then a dip in the hot tub before I venture back out. Please, Medallion, stay hidden!!!
This was on the PP board:

Maybe the puck is in the West?

No finder as far as he knows. Stop
20 casual diggers up top. Stop
Locusts in the vale. Stop
It's diggin' time. Stop
C u there

I'll be out shortly... hope my shoulder holds up.
Tho' hills abound, it's on level ground
A rivulet gurgles by

In the midst should seekers vie

I think last year they did it for clue 11 for a test run to work out any problems. Little did we know how descriptive the clue was going to be.
Is there a limit to the number of people that can conference?
Is there a reason why it is not written "In the midst seekers SHOULD vie.."?
The fencing may have nothing to do with it??
Who knows.
It's just that every year I kick myself because I make the hiding location harder than it is. Crosby I was out in no man's land and it was less than 100 yard from the parking lot.
I think I'm sticking to my new assessment.

Also, what do you mean by #1 in line person? I think I have that covered.
Just PM me. Or, I'll try and slog when I get home.
Last night I had a dream where I found the med, but it wasn't in the park...someone gave it to me as a gift, LOL!
Should be interesting tonight ... heading out now.
I have no cell phone, or laptop...
oldschool...
I'll get the clue, and go to the park...
I tried the conference call last year, and didnt even hear the clue - didnt even know what it said, til the next morning, when I got a paper...
I'm all for running around the woods like a maniac.... But I like to know where to go, too...
