2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

So I was digging..."do as romans do" is attributed to st Ambrose...there is or was (don't know the east side well) st Ambrose church in the Payne ave neighborhood near swede hollow which fits a babbling brook...crazy?

Evildoer - that would be pure EVIL! I do not like Swede Hollow. It scares the heck out of me. So desolate. Being a woman, being there alone after dark... EGADS!!! I do believe that's where the Boogey Man lives.

that babbling brook does bring up visions of Swede Hallow hunt....good point.

I was there earlier this fall with my dogs... I did not see a brook when we walked the whole area.

I would much rather it be Swede Hollow (my favorite hunt ever) than Battle Creek....

But I am not really seeing how the dog part plays in at SH.

It's almost like the clue writer wanted the A to appear at the beginning of the line?

Wow...Look at the beginning of each line going up...

BatC...Battle Creek?

I'm still slogging from yesterday...

Why is it 'as a roman SHOULD do' and not 'would do' or even just 'as the roman do'? Feels like there is an anagram or something in there.

Ambrose Tighe was a famous st paulite, lawyer, and professor (one of the founders of William Mitchell law school). He wrote a book on the roman constitution and taught roman law. I don't see that it fits any park but is an interesting factoid nonetheless.

Im thinking battle creek is a red herring for Jake. He's said many times (and probably to PiPress) that hes wanted a back to back hunt and it is in his back yard.

Pierre "Pigs Eye" Parrant was once referred to as "Romulus of our future city". Which if you are going for Romulus and Remus, could bring you to Phalen with the Rome reference. There is also Rome street that is right close to Highland.

I'm actually convinced now that it is at Battle Creek. That being the case, I wonder if I should book the hall for the Rehash for this Sunday since it will probably be found by Friday!

I don't know if it will be found by Friday. There is a lot of ground to cover there and I am sure they wised-up and didn't just put it at the top of a sledding hill this time.

There's just so many things that I'm getting stuck on with the clues this year....don't even know where to start.

I seem to have come down with a good old fashioned head cold the past couple of days....SO, I'm having trouble thinking clearly.

It seems to me that there is something BIG that I am missing here, especially in this last clue....that kind of thing that you look at later with an "Aha!!", but my stuffy head can't get past "woof" and "babble" right now.

from the pp boards...

when in Rome do as the Romans do would be, When in a dog park, do as dogs doÂ… dogs stereotypically dig, dig in the dog park?

I can't help but thing BC is a red herring. Especially given it was just there last year (unless the Press really is trying to stick it to Jake). Could the woof and babble refer to a story (the book)? And what's up with the quotations? Woof I can kinda understand (a dog talking) but babble? Can you really quote a water source?

//Lake Phalen says "Glug Gulg"

///Lake Como says "Splash!"

////Beaver Lake says "I banged your mom"

Most dogs "woof" when something in their environment changes. I know my pup goes crazy if I leave a box on the counter that doesn't belong. Could just be a reference to a change in the clue writer.

I'm stretching to get anything as of late, I was planning on going out and poking around today, but it's hard to get motivated.

Did you find one? I'm tempted to go out today just to find one of those medallions, as my niece and I want to go to that exhibit. Has anyone found one, yet, and, of so, are they hidden or just out in the open?
