2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

I know this has probably been asked 100 times, but those Pirate medallions, are they just being found in the big parks (aka Como, highland, Phalen, etc) or are people finding them in smaller ones too (Beaver, Langford, College, Shamrock, etc)? I was thinking of taking my kid out hunting for them tomorrow while it was going to be warm (that would be the 2 1/2 year old, not the 2 week old).

Yep AW, and they have a netting connecting all three that the seams in the netting look like pie slices. Also the top of the shelter, looks like pie slices

Hello Krissy, like the earring photo

I think we are not all in consensus as of yet. Some are BC, some are HP, some are Como?

No medallions found today, just a piece of frozen pie wrapped in a page of the press.

So what do Romans do?

Take baths.

Eat pannini (modern).

Get rid of Ceasar.

Surrender to the Germanic warlord Odoacer.

Build aquaducts.

Speak latin.

Do gymnastics.

Wear tunics.

Use Roman numerals.

?

Also thought of the classical music work "Pines of Rome" by Ottorino Respighi.

Too much effort I didn't want to take it out if the chest it was in and unravel it from all that yarn...

Ittiz at BC. Though I went out there tonight and didn't see any hunters anywhere. But then again I was out there aroun 5pm which is usually after the day crew leaves and before the night crew arrives.

I do believe it is on the Maplewood side this time. The area by the water park felt like the right place.

Aren't most Protestant churches just the same as Catholisim only they've realized wasn't 1600 any more?
Wed, 01/25/2012 - 5:49 PM Permalink

Did a lot of the area look untouched?

Okay, I don't know what this would mean, so probably nothing, but Rome was built on 7 hills, and St. Paul is the city of 7 hills. Correlation?

Baptist

Capitol

Cathedral

Ramsey

Dayton's Bluff

West side

St. Clair

Thoughts?

I didn't see anything that looked like it had been searched really. But the areas I was in tended to have a lot of normal park traffic too and I didn't look around too extensively. I just wanted to do a bit of scouting before it got dark.

yea pretty much, although there are some under the protestant banner that revert even farther than 1600. particularly those that have given up most of the traditional catholic traditions.

So, I have been spending time today going through clues of the past 60 years and looking at all the explanations of the clues and thinking how majority of the time we come up with deeper meanings to the clues than the actual PP explains (sometimes we should run this hunt!!) and trying to simplify these clues to their "level" (I like our noodling on the meanings better!)

The when in Rome has been pestering me all day and I came across a point I think might actually have a reference to Clue 4! I apologized if this has already been spoke about, hard to follow all the comments completely

So the term "when in Rome do as the Romans do" which essentially means follow customs, do the same. Since our poem says SHOULD do I think its saying " while you should follow the masses, DON'T. Maybe this clue is meant to be a "stall" clue on the park? Or while this clue can have a lot of hunters doubting Hp and moving to BC this little line could mean..don't follow!

I think my brain is overloaded today. Something isn't right with this clue 4 :crying: :crying: :crying:

I hear you with the scouting! On one hand I would love HP to be it since I did spend some time yesterday looking at the land but wouldn't mind a BC repeat since its closer to drive do for the "mad dash". My husband is convinced its down the dog part trail, but I can't recall since it has the fenced in area if it gets locked at night?

Need clue 5

I got home from work and decided to sit with myself and noodle thses clues out...but only managed to get myself hooked on at least 4 parks as stong possibilities.

So onto clue 5. I can't think anymore on these clues for now.

That area is massive, much much more woods there than just the area marked off for dogs.

I agree, BC itself is overwhelming to me. The times I have gone to hunt there, I just feel like..where do I start?! lol Hopefully tonight's clue will give some insight!

I like Highland by Nimrod:--

Clue one: It's a St. Paul Park, in the realm, with both a regular and a frisbee golf course.

Clue 2. I found the abstract reference to the triple score and the red and blue. The triple score(prize) would be the crown (triple crown). Roses are red, violets are blue...........sugar is sweet. Pearsons candy has a golden crown and abuts Highland.

Clue 3. Grills and waterpark et al. Dog Walking bags. A road interfacial. Not only does edgecumbe become Hamline, but the road has a goofy bike lane drawn on it- interfacing both 2 roads and two forms of transportation. As for "Crack this nut" -seems every third building is named after Charles M Shultz-..peanuts.

Clue 4. Babbles and woofs-tells me do what's natural- not the playground, but the woods. When in Rome, do as the Romans.... When in Highland, go to the high land... Hillcrest...

Any thoughts?

Sounds like good noodles. I especially like the roses are red, violets are blue line moving to Pearson's. Very clever.

Total sidetrack, but yeah,I'm an Episcopilian. It would be a very familiar service to anyone who is used to a Catholic Mass.

Ditto in the Lutheran church and as far as I know the Presbyterian church as well. They all still use a tight form of the bachian mass.
