2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

I remember como. The stream of lights and the sound of thunder as the boots trampled the ground. Clashing shovels and flashlight beams. It was a very odd experience.

p.s. -the little bike nook I still hold near is by the compost (smell) train tracks (right track) and is at the end of a part of the trail. O.K. I've let it go.

It was awesome! I was hunting at Harriet with my oldest son, we got the Who Clue and dashed over in his truck. We still laugh about it.

There's a Lot of Love in the current park(s): Venus, Lake Valentine, Valentine School, Lake Valentine Road, Valentine Crest Road, Valentine Avenue, Valentine Court, Valentine Court. Must have been developed by someone in the midst of a love affair.

In case people want to go out looking for pirate medallions (after the big hunt is over) here are how I found a few of the ones I got.

On my way to the park now! Wearing the ugliest orange vest you've ever seen. :barf: Give me a "You dig?" and let's have a chat.

I'll be out at around 6pm and then will probably dip home for a bit between 8 and 10:30 to wait and rest up for the next clue.

Lord have mercy on my soul and somebody please find the treasure.

8 straight days in the park approaching 75-80 hours.

Has anybody been digging in the woods along new brighton road, south of the tracks? It's not my preferred spot, but when there didn't seem to be anyone even poking around out there last night. There's a lot of pretty dense wooded area over there. Watch the eyes!

Remember when we were all in Crosby at clue three and it still went forever? Even when things look picked over, they likely are not.

That the previous clue stuck to describing a lot of stuff on the lower (Johana Lakeside) end of the park, if they turn around tonight and send everyone to the shores of Lake Valentine, there will be a people-jam in the railroad tunnel and one rather torked-off wiener dawg.

Hard to say, though, if that description was talking about a specific area in the park or if the features mentioned were simply there to identify the park and nothing more. I'll be north of E2, tonight.

I know I mentioned this before, but, if you have a GPS, there is a 3.14 location at the park. Or rather, a 3.14 line.

That was the last year I hunted until this year due to having babies and dealing with some health issues. I play broom ball at McMurray fields and in 2003 would play then drive to Harriet to dig. Turned out the medallion was right by where I was playing! My friend and I each lost our cell phones at Como during that hunt (at different times) and kind souls picked them up when we called them and got the phones back to us. I am happy to be back hunting this year!

I'm still bitter about that hunt. I vividly recall Art and myself standing in plain view of the Capitol at Harriet waiting to here where to did. Then tail lights in the lot off in the distance started coming on. Then we got the phone call: "COMO!! GET TO COMO!!"

I was sitting at Como having lunch when I read the capitol view clue. I looked up and noticed the park sign had the Capitol Dome. I was convinced. Dug there the entire hunt. Lucky hunch, I guess. That was the first year, I thought I might just have the knack for this hunting gig! Before that I just figured I didn't know enough.

What is the link to the old PP forum (I guess it must be prospero or something like that)? Thanks.

BTW, at last year's predig, Morgain sat at the bar the entire night by herself and then complained that we weren't welcoming. A few people talked to her, but she made no effort to introduce herself around. That said, some people do know what she looks like.

I'm heading up to TS to scout out the northern section of the park since I havent been in that area much yet. Do some digging, and then maybe get a little rest before clue time. Let's finish this thing!

I went out there after work today for about a hour and a half. It was quite busy ( full parking on the street) and it did look turned over. I did find a dog sign ( woof!) with the blue flags for the "fence" as well as the weird ceramic bunny in the cage. There's the lucky charm ( could be a double meaning!) Lots of marsh and trees. Started that way last night too.

Thats pretty much where we've been, not exactly along new brighton road, but that general area between new brighton and lake johanna blvd, south of the tracks.

If you are now taken aback,

Then you are, my friend, on the right track.

Someone Bing map this thing and humor me.

Follow from Lake Johanna through the tunnel on Anderson trail- but then be taken aback- to the left. End by the traintracks. Compost. Paths end.

    I need a different hobby!
