2012 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt - Tony Schmidt Park
2012 Clues 

So its back to the drawing board for next year 
to find a spot so deep and drear. 
Harder to reach all you whiners 
than those buried Chilean miners. 

Next year's clues will inspire dread 
requiring knowledge of languages dead, 
Higher math rocket science 
disbanding every hunters alliance. 

I take your leave. I bid adieu. 
I go in search of the perfect clue. 
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve. 
Will have a grand party in 2012.

Star Park is officially part of Mounds Park – it is the small park on the corner of Burns and 61. The trees and paths in the park form a star so many people call it Star Park.

Venus was a Roman Goddess and there is Venus Street, but it's a ways from TSP...

Find Obb's bar on Burns ave (just west of highway 61) and park. Across the street is the path and the file of the google map I have attached.

It's really Indian Mounds park technically.

I believe Elmer Trail branches and loops through between Venus and undergrowth/trees. It shows it on another map I have.

Google Maps: Venus Avenue, Arden Hills, MN

Follow Elmer Andersen Trail, crosses W County Road E2, then in the middle of the land between Venus Ave and CR E2 it heads back toward Snelling Ave. (behind Valentine's School).

But that puts it away from the parks themselves and views of Lake Johanna; although there is a Lakeview Ave.

The Ramsey County Sheriff I spoke to yesterday is back again today. He called for a plow and they are going to open the parking area across from the shore for parking. He said he didn't think it was fair for folks to get a ticket. Also, he said it was okay to park on the shore side of the road.

There is a proposed Elmer Andersen trail looping to the left before Venus Ave around behind Mounds Park HS and back around TS Regional Park, not sure if that's been built yet.

I think that it's already been narrowed down a bit and we just don't know it. There are certainly areas where I'm more prone to dig. Tonight will probably get people to the right 1/4 of the park, which is probably close enough for it to be found by tomorrow night, given the amount of press the park seems to be getting.

Well just got back from TSP. Lots of people out there today. I didn't find much today, but I did see Brassmonkey and Jake near the area I was searching, so I must be close! My legs got too tired though after a while and decided I'd leave. Might go back out tonight, I'm hoping tonight's clue (assuming it hasn't been found) narrows it down a bit further.

TSP probably doesn't have any more since there are so many people. I found my 4 at Cherokee just walking the trail looking near benches/trees, but that was on the 1st day so they are probably mostly picked up already.

I suppose in reality, you would need a vendor license. And I think I'd just steer clear of the legal issues with supplying alcoholic beverages.

always a possibility. remember 2003 in como when 98% of the hunters were at harriet until we were asked who hears a who even though we had here's a whodunit two clues earlier. we could, though with elmer andersen it seems unlikely, have a similar situation in progress. but i doubt it.
