2012 - Tony Schmidt Park

Submitted by ares on
2012 Clues

So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.

Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.

I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

I get the run off thing but it still isn't sanitary

It's a hold over from Victorian times.

Like when legs were referred to as "nether limbs".

City Sanitation Departments run the Garbage trucks, etc.

Good night all.

I think I have a search area that's about the size of a football field in mind - do you think by Clue 9 they would ever narrow it down THAT far, or am I just hoping?

Great, I really didn't want to go out tonight, but I think I have a pretty good idea of where it's at, so I hate to say it but here I go...

What I'm a asking, is....

Kid do ya feel lucky?

Can ya wait til daylight?

Will your hoe be sharp in the morning?

Is it going to be raked under the ice again tonight?

Keep a soft touch out there Mikey :goofy:

"Follow your nose..." Reminds me of the old Fruit Loops commercial with Toucan Sam. Seems to me that is the 2nd time a box of cereal has been referenced. Could it be hidden in a mini cereal box?

So we ended up at Flaherty's at clue scramble time, and apparently ladies the way to get hit on at bars is to dress in snow pants and boots and be completely disinterested in anything going on other than your laptops. Well at least Hnts2mch and Becksie got free drinks out of it. (I refused)

Becksie -"Don't touch my computer!!!"

It was fun noodling with both of you!

By the time we got down to the beach area - both parking lots were full. So we went to Perry - which only had about 20-25 cars in it.

Was wondering if there is a trail head on Chatham ave?

It was fun for us too.... we felt bad cuz we weren't sure after if you wanted to follow us and go with or what. We did more walking than digging. We can't make up our minds on how far aback we should go. So we figured wait to dig in daylight.

By the way has anyone seen the Camo Crew?

Where are they this year?......I haven't seen one in the park... and they're hard to miss.

I still have to marvel at the number of people who take the time to put on warm clothes and drive down and all they get out of this clue is to run straight to the gazebo, tables, benches or one the stinky lift stations and dig right next to it.

Oh and the people checking the railroad tracks.... :pbpt:

Must be the same people they kicked out of Rice Park.

I still think its somewhere along the anderson trail near Perry park. Look for dogwood and water near each other (Woof, Red & Blue). Now to try to get some sleep before the kid wakes up again.

I agree on the red and blue: dogwood and water.

Active RR lines usually have 50ft. minimum from centerline on each

side as right-of-way. Private Property! No digging allowed.

Elmer runs through the tunnel, but the banks of the grade there are private

property. I'm sure the right-of-way would extend a little beyond the bottom

of the slope. Maybe to the RRside of the trail along the tracks.

So the RR slopes are out of bounds for the hunt.

Has anyone seen the new Pistachio commercials? I'm keeping that clue open for double meaning.. in an empty bag of Pistachio's and McCracklin

I've seen that commercial. That could very well the 'what it's in'.

Good luck all in your hunting today. I'll be thinking of you and dreaming I was out there too.

I'm torn, I want to share where I think it is in the park so someone from the cooler crew can find it, but I also want the chance to find it after work.

Don't worry TMK. We're at the point in the hunt where you could draw a map to the exact spot and it still won't be found because everyone has their own idea of what's right.

There is a direct line between the blue n red playground equip and brighton way that crosses elmers trail... Thinking of clue 12 landmarks...

If it's not found before I can escape from work this afternoon, I'm planning on making a full night of it tonight. See you out there. Good luck to those of you already out there digging. Should be a nuthouse tonight. There was a good crowd there last night, but a lot of just milling around.

Is Redbear setting up the conference call for tonight?

For those who have been down at Gabes -- Has anyone noticed when the clue is posted online in relation to when they start handing out the papers?

I am pretty sure that it will be found today in the light. They have narrowed it down with this clue. I wish that I could be hanging around with you guys today. This has been a really fun hunt.

I doubt most people narrowed it down much - from the discussions people still don't know what side of the tracks to look.

Someone tell Alex he can stop the PP board subterfuge trying to bury all Tony Schmidt threads. We've had Kool 108 radio playing at work the last couple of days - Lee Valsvik (the DJ) is a hunt fan and has been talking up Schmidt park like crazy on the air for the last 2-3 days. The cat is out of the bag... or the Dogwood is out of the water, sort of speak.

So what's the best bet, before the tracks or after?

It's weird set-up, there is the longer TSP but Perry Park is a little box park jutting out from Schmidt Park.

At 10:15 there are 25 vehicles parhed at PP, 11 at the compost road, lots full at TS beach and boat launch and about 30 on Co Rd E2.

Ughh! I wish I could be out there. I had an errand up in Roseville, so I drove through TS and PP, but no time to stop. Lots of cars. I've been there multiple times over the last few days, but never went north of the tunnel. Hoping this contest lasts a little longer!
