2012 Clues
So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.
Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.
I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

"Whatta blast! Learned some really cool history and even picked up a new hunting skill- that's follow Jake."
No offense to Jake, but that kind of makes me cringe.
"a Roman should do," evokes another reference to the Vikings Arden Hills stadium effort - Vikings wide receiver Devin "Aromashodu."
Not like that ONE clue kept me from getting there and finding it tho
???
Jake remains a two-time finder in my eyes

Congrats Lange Wallgren!
I bet he keeps hunting though. I can't imagine why anyone would quit, even after multiple finds. In fact, the more times you do, the more famous you get, and it's probably hard to give that up.
The good
Clue 2: 12 makes 2012 the 60 th or "Diamond Jubilee" year of the hunt - a clue to how the treasure is camouflaged - in a "Diamond" company bag three score = 60 = Diamond jubilee = diamond bag. I'm OK with this
Clue 4: The last line of the clue - "a Roman should do," evokes another reference to the Vikings Arden Hills stadium effort - Vikings wide receiver Devin "Aromashodu. Clever. When this was figured out, it convinced me of Tony Schmidt (or at least an Arden Hills park)
Clue 7: Is this the first time a clue has been dedicated to a previous finder? I like it cause you need to know your hunt history (vs general history or MN history) to get this one. Lets just hope they never dedicate a clue to Jake. He doesn't need his ego fed any more.
The bad
Clue 2:"Off our chest" means 2012's medallion is NOT in a chest. So now they tell us what it's not hidden in?
Clue 1: "Circulated" also refers to clues printed in the paper and to actual treasure hunt "news" that has in years past been printed in the paper. What does this have to do with the hunt at all? Is this a shameless plug to get people to buy your papers still?
Clue 4:"Woof" sounds like the last name of Vikings owner Ziggy "Wilf." Lame....
General observation: They didn't go "park, park, park, park, exactly where in park" this year. They did "park, what it's in, park, what it's in, park, what it's in, park, exactly where it is in park" Only need one clue to tell me what it's in people.
Clue 8: Reference to a place with "a special claim" refers to the handicapped parking in the nearby parking area. Handicapped parking? Really? "a special claim" could have been written to mean so much more, with Perry and Anderson, and the Indians.
Clue 11: Well written clue, when it comes to pointing people towards the hiding spot, without going clue 12 specific on it. But it ends up here cause you break this clue up and put references to the sign, the power lines, the pavilion, the hill, the trees all into separate clues, and now you got people trying to actually line up the spot as the hunt is going on (if they can figure it out) vs blindly digging cause all we get each clue is "park park park"

Now go look at the list of "finders".
People hunt in groups. And when one of the group finds it, they list everyone. That's how it has ALWAYS been. If the Pioneer Press agrees to list them as finders, they are finders.
If you want to discount it and say they don't really count as finders because they weren't together at the time he found it that's your personal right, but I personally love that are all listed and get to go through the process of being a finder.
Plain and simple.
Lange was THE Finder. End of story. I personally wouldn't want credit for 'finding' it unless I was hip-to-hip with whomever picked it up, or helped escort them out of the park. Lange giving credit to the guys he was around in the park that evening was very generous. Good for him.
or at least that's what the pp board logic says.
I'll brush up this year a bit, see if I can't actually decipher the clues for next year.
I kind of wished I had been there to see the puck in-person - not to get credit, but to see if my blacklight flashlight would make the thing glow or not.
