2012 Clues
So its back to the drawing board for next year
to find a spot so deep and drear.
Harder to reach all you whiners
than those buried Chilean miners.
Next year's clues will inspire dread
requiring knowledge of languages dead,
Higher math rocket science
disbanding every hunters alliance.
I take your leave. I bid adieu.
I go in search of the perfect clue.
Prepare to hike hard dig deep and delve.
Will have a grand party in 2012.

I look at the biggest advantage of this board over the PP one is not the privateness, but rather the control. The PP never bans people and rarely deletes offensive posts. Here, we have several mods who will lay down the hammer if needed.
I understand the sour taste when it comes to certain things. I have a sour taste in my mouth this morning for being so close last night. But when it comes to stuff "leaking" you really need to weigh the good and the bad and decide what's best for you.
I hope people will continue to noodle together online. That's half the fun! And it's good to have new people joining us. Everyone has something to bring to the table.
The chances of any one person in the CC finding the puck are pretty small. If some people want to keep their noodles private, that's their choice. But I think then we are missing out on what really makes this hunt fun--a sense of community and friendship, being a part of the hunt even if we never actually find the puck ourselves.
Not sure if I'm making sense. Just a few thoughts...
I've still never met any of you in person, even though I've been around a long time. I don't post as often as I should, I tend to lurk because I always second guess my noodles and deem them not good enough to post. I was pretty on track this year, so I've learned I should speak up more in the future.
I really like being able to come here and live vicariously though those out in the parks looking if I can't be there myself. I loved being able to add my noodles when I was off at college back in the day and couldn't make it back to hunt. I know I'm usually quiet, but I feel strongly that the comradarie is important. I hope all will continue to share in the future.
heh
yes. yes we do.
and although we like the openness, there has always been the unwritten rule that thou shalt not repost noodles from here "over there" unless its your own. perhaps we need to write that one down someplace, although enforcing that against lurkers who don't post would be rather difficult.
I have to respectfully disagree I am certainly a one time finder. I have no idea who you are but it's certainly easy to come on here and discredit anyone you feel like behind a computer screen. Isn't this your first year on this board.
Let me ask you, if you and your mom/wife/husband or good friend are looking together all day For the medallion as a team and one of you finds it then the other isn't a finder?
Total BS. That's how teams work. When a football team wins the game does only one person get the credit?
You team up with people to find the medallion so you cover more ground the trade off is splitting the money and the glory.
But thats ok I know I for one will not be renewing this year and have heard and seen more then a few who have not I guess these boards are going to slowly rot away now that there are people running around telling every one who we really are and stuff like that! I know some people have left over the years because they don't feel safe anymore on these boards because people have Unmasked them! and such
I've always loved being part of this crew and I have posted stuff this year but it seems I feel like I'm being more careful about what noodles I share lately. I HATE feeling like I need to sensor myself on here. :frown: I'm done trying to dig my hole deeper I'll talk to you at the Pity Party or the Rehash if you want to about this but I can't get words onto paper. (or computer as it may be)
even more so when there's a moderator who has to maintain said list.
no, but the place kicker will certainly get sole credit for the loss if he shanks a game winning field goal as time expires
seriously though, well said!
The longtin family found it twice as a family but different people found it as individuals. Should we erase them as two time finders?
"Let me ask you, if you and your mom/wife/husband or good friend are looking together all day For the medallion as a team and one of you finds it then the other isn't a finder?"
Um, nope :goofy: Wishful thinking does wonders to a man's logical faculties. If I'm looking in the trunk of a tree and my kid is looking up in the tree and happens to find it, he found it. Not me. There's no saying I would have looked in the same place he did had he not found it. Accept it

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Personally I really don't care, there are more important things in life like my family and the friends that I have here at the CC.
I would be honored to have you allied with me when I uncover the puck for your 3rd find
Where and when is the ReHash and whats for Dessert?
And I have to work tonight :frown:
One was that we moved off the PP site and in the process became a distinct group. And then other people came to see us that way and in their minds we became some hunters instead of all hunters. That thinking then started to pervade here as well with an us vs them mentality.
The second thing is that we started meeting in person. Not just in line at the PP or at the Rehash, but elsewhere too. People threw parties, date each other, and formed all sorts of other personal bonds. When you have a discrepancy in the levels of familiarity between people, you inevitably have a clique, almost by definition. The problem is you can't be a close group of friends and a group open to everyone. They are two very different sets of expectations which is what we have. In my yahoo group. We have no personal bonds outside the hunt and don't really know each other and it has been a very stable dynamic as a result. I'm not saying we should emulate that, but it does provide a contrast for making this point. So we have something of an identity crisis that won't be easily solved.
You are a TWO time finder.
Maybe you weren't in the park at the moment it was found the first time, but it wouldn't have been found at that point in the hunt without you (from my understanding). In addition, Jake recognized your contribution as a finder. I don't see why anyone else would call it any different.
Likewise, to me, Jake is a three-time-finder. This does seem a bit different than the earlier situation... but as I was not there and do not know the whole history, I do not feel I am the one to judge. The casual hunter whose name I am already forgetting chose to follow through on his word and recognize the other guys as part of the find, therefore they are finders too. For all I know, those guys spelled it out clue by clue what each thing meant to him.
I found out this morning that I'm three years cancer free. I'm ecstatic. So, please, all of you, quit fighting over the definition of a finder. In the whole scheme of things, it isn't what is important.
All that said, I understand what Jeri Lynn is saying about the one particular linking incident. It isn't like we don't expect good noodles to get out. They do. They all do. That's the way the game is played.
She's talking about something all together different. Someone, who none of us know, is a member here to seemingly shine a negative light on the cooler crew. I don't care about "stealing" noodles. I care about people being unkind and deceptive.
And thanks for the redirect onto what is important.
Can anyone tell me the time for the pity party? I really need it. I can't seem to erase the image of me reaching out and grabbing the medallion-- I feel like it would be my Mirror of Erised image.
People like think they are clever and post false stories on the PP boards and other places to lead people away. Even after a decade or so of doing this, the public as a collective mind and the Coolers as a collective mind are STILL not very far off timing-wise. The few minutes difference between when THIS forum gets a clue posted and when it appears in the PiPress means absolutely NOTHING - aside from someone's pride being hurt because they were not the 'first'. Big deal if you are the first at the right park and were there two days before anyone else - did you find the medallion?!? (Jake: Don't answer that.) It just does NOT matter all that much.
If you got the winning 'noodle' posted online first - good for you! If you never bothered to go to the park and test that noodle by finding it yourself; well, at least you THOUGHT it up. Just try paying the bills with that claim.
Tonight at the pity party we will near dozens and dozens of 'almost' stories - we love to tell them, and the people there love to hear them - because no matter who or what we are - we all enjoy the experience of the Hunt. This board - and the Coolers in general - exist because of that reason alone.
The only rules that are 'Sacred' are the ones posted by the Pioneer Press. The Finder is the ONE person who turns in the Medallion, and they ALONE get to determine who 'Found' it with them. End of story. (Steps off soapbox)
