It's finally been determined that the 4th Annual Mock Hunt will start this year on Saturday, March 8th with the release of the first of 12 clues. The clues will be released once per day at 6pm. This year's prize is still being determined, but it's likely to include some as yet undertermined cash amount as well as a special trophy.
The focus of this year's hunt will be on offering clues that will guide a clever person right to the treasure (as opposed to vague, unsolvable clues that only put you in the right park, and not necessarily anywhere near the treasure).
The treasure will be hidden on public property in St. Paul. It will not be underground, in a tree, inside things that use electricity, at the edge of a cliff, on top of buildings, or anywhere else that may give you second thoughts about how wise it is to go there. Depending on the weather, it may be under some snow, but a careful analysis of the clues should guide you right to it with a minimal amount of digging needed.
For the release of the first clue, we'll be having a gathering at Fabulous Fern's in St. Paul on Selby and Western starting around 4pm in the bar area.
General rule for all mock hunts should be: no como! It needs to be a rule or some trickster is going to put their coin at como. And I promised myself not to go back to Como until at least next January...
for the next conspiracy of the day, anyone wanna take bets that aw is gonna write clues that are gonna lead us to como and point us somewhere else on the 11th clue? hehe.
I like Como as a park. I practically grew up there. I'm just a little tired of it seeming like it's always there when there are so many other places it could be that would be more interesting at this point. Each new park is like a new adventure. When they keep going back to the same park, it's like watching a rerun.
The puck posse crew is putting on a pre-mock-hunt before the real fun begins with Allison's - so head over to their board to get the clues. No money for finding, just honor.

I've decided to use my own coin this year. That should avoid any logistical problems of trying to meet up with Marley before the hunt and then I can hide it whenever I want. I'll be using a special commemorative Winter Carnival coin so we can add that in with the prizes.
So what are we at for prizes anyway? Do I remember someone saying they were throwing in $50? Ares maybe? Last year I think people had more of a reason to throw in money since a real hunt was so badly needed and thus I'm not necessarily expecting as big of a pot this year, but still I'm happy to include anything people do want to throw in. Otherwise I'm still trying to figure out if there's ay other way to get prizes.
Looks like Marley and Ares both said $50 now that I read back so I guess we should have at least $100. We'll also have to see if the defending champ is will to put something towards the prize.
I am still thinking David of what to add from me2 :) Also-I am sooo bummed- Mark and I cannot go to the retreat over the 1st. Mark saw the Christmas debt :( and since I didn't get the medallion from the Carnival hunt obviously our living room is put on more hold-
and the kids went to Karate for a month of free lessons- we once again learn NOTHINGS FREE!!!!! after the kids have gone- of course they love it---SNAGGED US RIGHT IN! I thought no biggy, the girls need an extra curricular activity- until I sat down and saw the prices - it is considered a school so it considered tuition! even though I am sure it can be a right off- but for 1 kid it is $3600 for 42 months wether the kid goes or not. so we are heavily struggling on how to tell the girls NO on this one.
I would be careful on breaking the news to them, being karate experts and all. They might remember a couple moves to take you down with. Sounds like we have a couple new ninjas in the crew.
I want the girls to go- it seams like a wonderful self defense course and great excersize but we just don't have the money. which makes me feel bad cause I always wanted my kids to have what I couldn't growing up.
yeah, that will make them look real attractive now wouldn't it. Mark would love it. Our oldest babysat nextdoor last night and he stayed up til she got home at midnight - what a sweetheart- funny though, I said, 'what are you gonna do when she's dating?' She was right nextdoor!! He was a nervous wreck :)
is that the one that asks for referrals from all the ministers/priests/rabbis who've ever known you? because i think i handed that one to my sister's boyfriend too.
possibly- its been a while since I've seen it myself. same concept though... drivers license and car license numbers name of living relatives to contact incase of his unexpected demise...that sort of thing ;)
"I was on my hands and knees with Jake on Harriet Island" -- Downtown Dave
Dave was getting it "downtown"? MEDALLIONATION!
he actually said that at gallivan's. aw, scribe, and leelabell can attest to it. clue master might be able to as well.
Oh, I believe you.

Sounds good AW! I think we're in for $50 (maybe more, Marley can confirm the Amt). We'll plan on giving it to you at Ferns.
I will be at Ferns too. Forgot about that place- it's been awhile-
aaah, a new stress and new memories to be made :)
i'm in for 50 too, aw. and for fern's if you're making reservations or anything.
i guess this means it won't be directly underneath the high bridge, eh?
or at the top of the highbridge, eh?
eh?
Allison wouldn't put it on the highbridge. Marley would put it on the "high" bridge.
maybe Allison will put it in Alice park :)
I am pretty sure it is at Como.
No no no... its gonna be moved to Como after 10 clues, then the 11th one will tell us its there.
Come on now, who would actually put on a hunt like that, it's to crazy to even imagine
lolololol
The only thing I'm going to say is "It's not at Como!"
General rule for all mock hunts should be: no como! It needs to be a rule or some trickster is going to put their coin at como. And I promised myself not to go back to Como until at least next January...
What's with the aversion to Como?
I love Como!
so you're the reason the puck was in como, huh? its a conspiracy i tell ya! conspiracy!
everyone knows that mape gui is the reason the puck was at como. he dropped it there wedsday night around 11:30
I think Trent dropped behind us while filming Jake and I talking about the Frog Pond.
Bastard!! ;o)
for the next conspiracy of the day, anyone wanna take bets that aw is gonna write clues that are gonna lead us to como and point us somewhere else on the 11th clue? hehe.
A clever person will get to the right park.
damn i guess that leaves me out.

I am ready for a good old fashioned Highland Park Hunt for next year.
.....It's long overdue.
AW will make us first think it's in Cherokee, then Harriet, then Como, then the real park.
Next year I could go for a Highland hunt too, since I live close and I have it picked in the pool.
allright! camp-out parties at kids' place!
A clever person will get to the right park.

I will chip in, though.
chip? as in a bag of potato chips?

$3600.00 can buy a lot of Pepper Spray and steel toes boots if ya know what I mean.
preach it, cm.
yeah, that will make them look real attractive now wouldn't it.

me2, let me ask a buddy of mine who's kids are in karate. I know it's a lot cheaper than what you mentioned.
funny though, I said, 'what are you gonna do when she's dating?'
clean the guns. and make sure her date knows he's cleaning them :)
well, we have a questionaire around here somewhere that needs updating...but I am sure he will find it real quick when she mentions boys arn't icky!
is that the one that asks for referrals from all the ministers/priests/rabbis who've ever known you? because i think i handed that one to my sister's boyfriend too.
possibly- its been a while since I've seen it myself.
same concept though... drivers license and car license numbers
name of living relatives to contact incase of his unexpected demise...that sort of thing ;)
that sounds about right.
Wait, how is this related to the mock hunt?
