So apparently we have a park. Now is it possible to figure out where in the park? I'm doing brunch tomorrow and then watching the Vikings and by the time that is done it will be almost dark.
I don't know if any of you cooler heads know him or not - but he posted quite a bit on the PP boards under the name of Zephy. He was also very much into going to the PP every night to get his clue, as his grandfather was the finder of the medallion in 1954, and after his GP's recent passing, he decided to pick up the shovel and continue the tradition. He lost just about all his sleep during the hunt last year between work and digging. His real name is Jason, and he is in the reserves and has been sent to Baghdad, and is going to be over there for a total of 16 months and miss the PP hunt this year. Besides the hunt, he had to say good bye to his wife and 3 small kids.
He has limited access to email, and over the past year when he was in Texas doing his training - we have kept up correspondance. I have been sending him the clues to Bear's hunt as he has been jonesing for something to do, and is most appreciative of the chance to noodle them.
I realize we can't send him all that he needs to do the PP hunt this year, but if anyone is interested in helping me send him some maps, a copy of the THG, etc. I am putting together some resources to send him. Please Message me, and I will get you his address. I am sure it would mean the world to him.
My next post - contains his last email to me. Thank you Bear for putting on your hunt, altho he wasn't able to be there and dig, I think he wins for getting the most out of it.
Thanks for the clues!! It is pretty fun to try and get back into "clue solving mode"! I just wish I had a dictionary, more freedom and time on the internet, and my old encyclopedia sets... Oh, yeah, and having access to ST Paul would be nice too....  It has been hard to get over to the internet the last week. If someone ends up not existing anymore, they close down the phones and internet for 2 days until they get official contact to the families of those no longer present. We have had about 5 - 7 of this kind of person fairly recently. I knew one of them a little, it kinda sux, he was a good guy.  I can see myself having some fun with the annagrams... It will give me something to do today on my (late) day off. We were building an extension to our maintenance building and redoing the roof on the existing portion, so I worked through my days off to get it done. Finally! Some time to rest! (And noodle over the clues)  The first one got me all excited, but I don't have my old clues here with me to help me remember what it was to mean. I remember that the first line was in a previous clue from PP, but what it meant and what a lot of people thought it meant were 2 different things... I don't remember what they thought it meant, or what book it came from. I wish I had my map to check out the possible Newman reference, or better access to the internet(coming soon!). the Chesty the bear thing really struck me as odd as well. Hmmmmm.....  Anyway, I don't have the clues here with me anyway... I will bring these back and try to figger 'em out.  Should be fun, trying to noodle the clues. Everything here is pretty cut and dry. Either you can do it, or you can't. So, in all true noodling spirit, I try and find the loopholes for everyone!  I better go, talk to you again soon I hope!!  Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day!!! ------Jason, 'Zephy the uncreative today'  P.S. I have to make a fourth clue-off the seat of my pants guess...... did they hide their object at Harriet Island??? When I first saw you sent me clues, before I even looked at them, that is the first park that popped into my mind.  Ciao!
found (now you need to read this with the music from the twelve days of christmas in mind) an old rubber glove, a tinfoil pipe, a burnt silver spoon and a condom in a pine tree. :)
Now if you add in a needle (hypodermic) and a dead cat it sounds like that spot I checked out about 2 years ago in that park.
The placement of plants and paths is meant to replicate the floor plan of the Hamm Mansion, which once stood on that very site. The elaborate brick Queen Anne mansion was located at 671 Greenbrier, formerly Cable Avenue. The Hamm family lived in the home from 1886 to 1933. Later it was used as a rest home operated by Mrs. Claire E. Robbins until the mid 1950s when it was destroyed by fire.
Â
(Kinda cool...wanted to point this out!!) I know some people know this spot and what they are doing up there.
Another project (recently of particular interest) was the Petunias, planted in 1956, making st. paul the petunia city. The Petunia remains the City flower today, as noted a few months ago by the local Public Television station as it asked it's viewers to name the City's flower!
Â
I didn't know this....oh the joys of doing a hunt...the stuff I learn!!! sweet...thanks bear...and here this morning I said outloud "that bastard" and this hunt. hahaha

St John Evan Lutheran School, 771 Margaret St, St Paul, MN

Does the St. John's School have a cross on it?
Carraiges Cross - to and fro? people taking thier kids to and from school with a cross on it?
