we got Molly from Carolyns mom, because she was allergic to her...
believe it or not, Pugs shed A LOT...
I wanted to name her Munch, because when we picked her up from the place, she was only about 6 months old, and was super small (munchkin), and kept trying to chew (munch) on my shoes, and pant legs.....
I have no idea why she was named Molly.....
although she'll respond to almost anything, as long as you've got food for her....
The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.
It takes about 15 seconds to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals for free'.
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Please pass it along to people you know.
Hawkeye was pretty definitely sighted this morning, Saturday 2/7, in downtown Stillwater in the parking lot of the CUB business center on 3rd Street, headed for the historic courthouse building. While searching and distributing flyers, a man who saw the flyer said he saw Hawkeye about a week ago at Valley Floral (also on 3rd Street) but north of the courthouse/CUB business center parking lot.
Crews of people (at least six total) have been out all day searching and distributing flyers.
Anyone in the Stillwater/Houlton or Hudson/Roberts or Afton/Lakeland areas, please keep an eye out, and have my cell phone number handy - I have it on 24/7: 651-356-5470.
My boston terrier likes to drink my coffee when I step out of the room. She's really sneaky about it too. I never catch her but I'll find little black hairs on the rim of the cup.
Possible Hawkeye sighting this morning in Stillwater. Hwy 95 just north of the Oasis Cafe, scrounging in the woods on the riverbank side. This is the third early morning sighting (spread out over 6 weeks) so one or more of the searchers will start going down there in the mornings to see if they can see any doggie activity. There is a blue merle female border collie in the area that may be confusing, but it has a tail, and Hawkeye has a naturally docked tail, so that should help rule out any non-Hawkeye dogs.
Just FYI, for anyone who is in that area, please keep your eyes and ears open and call me if you hear ANYTHING! Thanks!!
1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, 'But Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!' I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet
paper good-bye...
2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy
Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, '62.' He was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, 'Did you start at 1?'
3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother
changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left
the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'
4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what
her own childhood was like: 'We used to skate outside on a pond and I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.' The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, 'I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!'
5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, 'Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?' I mentally polished my halo and I said, 'No, how are we alike?'' You're both old,' he replied.
6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. 'What's it about?' he asked. 'I don't know,' she replied. 'I can't read.
7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying, 'Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!'
8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in.? Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, 'It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with
flashlights.'
9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, 'I'm not sure.' 'Look in your underwear Grandpa,' he advised. 'Mine says I'm four to six.'
10. A second grader came home from school and said to her
grandmother, 'Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today.' The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. 'That's interesting,' she said, 'how do you make babies? ''It's simple,' replied the girl. 'You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'.'
11.. Children's Logic: 'Give me a sentence about a public servant,' said a teacher. The small boy wrote: 'The fireman came down the ladder pregnant.' The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. 'Don't you know what pregnant means?'? she asked. 'Sure,' said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child.'
12. A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties.' They use him to keep crowds back,' said one child. 'No,' said another. 'He's just for good luck.' A third child brought the argument to a close. 'They use the dogs,' she said firmly, 'to find the fire hydrants.'

any one looking both dogs have to go to the same home!!!!! and I know you all are good people that fills the needs good home part!!
Labs are wonderful dogs - but there is no way I could have one other big dog in this house - much less two more. It sounds like they have been wonderfully cared for and loved.
ok thats the ones!!! wow good to hear!! they have to stay together because a part they wine and also the one wont get in to a car with out the other!!!
The posting was from California - the friend who sent it to me was under the impression that the friend that sent it to her knew these people personally and they were local. So, that is how so many of these things go!
We've participated in this walk in the past - they used to do it at Como Park and Woodbury as well. Now it's only at Theodore Wirth Park in Golden Valley (probably to cut costs). We usually throw a little support to our dog's vet team at Hudson Road Animal Hosptal - they are usually one of the top Vet fund raisers.
It's a real 'United Nations' of Dogs - hundreds of breeds show up. Apparently even an Alligator came last year (see the Photo Gallery)
Do any of you Inver Grove Heights area people recognize this dog, found today near the Moose Lodge - bet it's owner is going crazy trying to find him/her!
There have been no recent Hawkeye sightings. Last confirmed sighting was 2/7 in Stillwater. Later Stillwater sightings may or may not have been him. In any case it has been several weeks since we've heard anything. The Stillwater folks keep making the rounds with new flyers to replace the ones that get taken down. One gal found out where Hawkeye came from, originally, and arranged to buy his half-sibling from a recent litter, so she takes the puppy, "Hudson" along when she searches for Hawkeye, hoping he might recognize a dog who is much like him, and his kin!
We are following up on a lead of a found Aussie who sounds like it could be Hawkeye - up in the Brainerd area.
http://whitehouse.gov1.info/blog/blog_post/blog-obama-dog.html Shortly after winning the election, I promised my daughters we would get a dog after we moved into the White House. We felt it was important to adopt a dog who needed a home, rather than purchase a new puppy.
We launched a nationwide search for the perfect dog for our situation. When we heard about the plight of the dog that had grown too big for his home in the city, we immediately made the decision. We are fortunate to live in a large house with a large lawn; perfect for this poor dog's situation.
but she's a lil fatty too... looks like a jimmy dean sausage, with feet...
Carolyn had one, when we first met, named Pablo, also....
I know if we didnt have Molly, right now, we'd probably have one of those instead...
We've decided that two dogs are enough, as long as one is big and one is small...

I googled the name of the dog owner and found this - is this the same story?

If so, someone posted that these dogs might have been placed in a home already, but they are checking further to see if that is true.

he works with them???
Can you check with him and have him find out if the e-mail is still valid or if the dogs have been placed?
Funny - these dogs are in L.A. but I got two notices from twin cities people yesterday about these dogs!
If they still need a home, we'll keep on posting the need and e-mailing it!
I can think of a few people who might be able to take two dogs together - they've done it before.
