Upside: In a panic, my 21yr old son still called mom first when in a crisis situation.
Downside: Not much I can do but be there for moral support and hand holding.
Upside: Not hitting someone - messed up girl who he is in love with (she is engaged to someone else) got him so worked up last night and angry that instead of hitting her he hit a wooden sign.
Downside: Now has a boxer fracture on his right hand and in a cast with no insurance.
Upside: Clean break and still lined up so no surgery needed.
Downside: Just started a new job with the railroad last Thursday - hoping he doesn't lose it over this incident.
Upside: Is showing maturity because he was at the hospital until 12:30 last night, but was up by 6:30am making all his phone calls to his boss, doctor, State to get MN Care, etc... Progress I guess.
kids are selling Happening's books for a school fundraiser I'm sure most peoples kids sell these but if you need one don't know where to get one look me up I'll hook you up they are $30 for the Twin Cities books
There is this stray cat from our neighborhood, less than a year old, she had kittens and I found homes for them, now she must be preggers again! I called AnimalArk and they say they are not taking in cats currently. Who should I call to take her that won't kill her?
She is an outdoor kitty that likes to capture mice and birds and bring them to your feet. I CANNOT keep her!
the animal shelter at como, is a no-kill shelter.... you could bring her there... but I think they charge money to drop off an animal.
and pretty much all "no-kill" means, is that THEY wont do it.... they'll just give them to someplace else who will. Found that out, when I used to volunteer at a shelter.
she keeps us up at night and she has no kitchen manners cause she was a stray since birth. She needs the right family to name her and teach her. She is currently the nameless cat.
I am curious about the foster family idea too.
I will call some of those and check out websites in the morning.
Here's the info on the place that adopts pregnant cats:
gentle touch animal sanctuary is the rescue who fosters pregnant cats. 763.537.5599 talk to sandy. Tell them Wendi Bottiger would like her (the mama cat).
Also if they can't find room, Wendi has said she would adopt and care for the animals (vet check/spay/neuter/ and shots.
Will you let me know what ends up happening? The person who posted this info would like an update.
Here's another possibility for the pregnant cat, from a woman who used to volunteer at this shelter:
"Northwoods Humane Society in Forest Lake, mn. 651-982-0240 Charlotte does intake there. They are limited admissions facility meaning they only take what they have room for and don't kill animals for space, but if you stress urgency they may find room for the cat. Great place."
Aaaaahhhhhwwwwww! Reminds me of Emmy, when I first met her back in 98. I think she came up level to my navel. Today she's a stunngly beautiful, accomplished woman that's my height. Little girls. They are the best. I could just eat Bella alive, she's so cute. Looks like she's happy to start school and not scared in the least. Big girl! Such a happy, proud papa!
Me2, I can't check on this until tomorrow night but you can go to Lost Dogs - MN and scroll down to the posts about this and PM the person who gave the info about Wendy if you want to try to get an answer sooner than Thursday Eve.
The 'Super Bowl' of Minnesota Pet Adoption is this Saturday at Como Park 10 to 4 pm - several agencies from across the state are pooling together resources for one event - click on the YouTube link and see what I mean...
me2, I was out of town at a class (overnight last night) but am home now.
I e-mailed my contact and here is her reply:
Yes! I will let Wendi know now also if she needs the cat gone Wendi said if they can't do foster she would take the cat in and make sure she gets spade after and that the kittens are taken care of. I'll let you know if Wendi got ahold of the lady.
Not sure if you will here from me next (with a phone number for Wendi) or if you will just hear from the rescue and Wendi directly, but I'll stay on it until we get a connection made.
Sorry, I was really tired when I posted that. Here is what I should have posted:

Please let me know if you hear anything, or if you want me to give your name and phone number directly to the woman who knows Wendi, let me know. I don't know any of these people, nor the rescue, was just reposting what was posted on Lost Dogs - MN when I asked for contact info for places that take pregnant cats. I wouldn't give your name and phone without asking you first, especially since I don't know the people involved personally.
Im tired too - and you probably know the last few days I've had.
Did you see the newspaper the other day?
70 cats a day are pouring in to animal shelters...places arn't taking them.
you can give my name and number. If I don't answer it's cause I'm truely in a bad place to reply but they can text me or I will see their # and call them back. They cannot leave a message.
thank you for trying to connect us up- seems like so many people in the middle and we are both slow to reply on both ends due to 'life' in the way.
To anyone in the St. Paul Park/Cottage Grove area:
Keep a close eye on your pets, and don't leave them unattended when they are out in the yard.
There have been two thefts, involving two dogs in each theft, from yards in the SPP/CG area in recent weeks.
The owners have gone to great lengths (multiple website postings, posters, flyers, police reports, calling area vets) and there is not one sign of their dogs.
Due to the details surrounding their disappearance, these do not appear to be dogs who were lost or who ran away.
Two (2) huskies disappeared from yard on Aug 30th between 4 & 6pm right near Heritage Park at 14th & Lincoln.
Chaos is a 98lb blk/white male-neutered Siberian husky 6 yrs old with blue eyes. He has a black mask. DonÂ’t worry, he is friendly and does not bite. Both dogs are family pets.
Mayhem is a 56lb blk/white/grey female spayed Alaskan husky 5 yrs old with one brown and one blue eye. She also has a white star patch on her back between her shoulder blades. Note that she is partially blind in both eyes.
Please if you have seen or heard anything please call or text dog owner's cell at anytime 612.414.0780.
"Vantage": Brown/black brindle terrier/poodle mix - male - neutered - microchipped - white patch on chin & chest - curly hair on back.
"Coco": White pitbull terrier mix - female - spayed - microchipped - has underbite that makes her look like she is pouting - thin white hair with black spotted skin.
They have been missing since July 22nd and are now believed to have been taken into someones home.
It is vital that they get returned. There are 2 small children who lost their dad to cancer & need the reassurance that the whole world is not a bad place & good things can still happen.
ARE THEY IN A YARD IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?
If you think you may have seen them, even if you are not sure, call me & I will go look. PLEASE. 651-769-9200
same rule applies to owners of small dogs/cats. sort of. watch out for birds of prey. saturday afternoon we caught a hawk sparring with a couple of blackbirds in the tree in our back yard.
Kind of wish you could 'shoo' those birds of prey down south a bit. Because of the flooding in the MN river, all the critters of the woods are heading to higher ground. Before they closed 169 down by Mankato I guess there was a section of road that was like driving on hamburger because of the road kills.
usually its the mommy or both parents.
Bet she got a cool band-aid and sticker too

Damn Kids!
hope his hand heals quickly.
he should be able to keep his job. It's obvious he is hurt if he is in a cast. I don't think I would say I hit anything though.
Eags?
OT?
Terry?
any ideas?

Resources at Petfinders
With the latter, not all listed take cats, and you'd have to ask to be sure if they are no-kill.
I'll post more if I get them.

I called the adoption agency last week but they didn't return my call.
They said on the recording they had no room anyhow even though I mentioned on the recording that Wendy wanted to Foster the cat.
If we have a way to get ahold of her I will give her to her OTHERWISE I will call this Northwoods tomorrow.
She has to go. I have enough stress. :frown:

I PMed you to make sure I have the right phone number to give to Wendi.
Hoping by the end of the day you and Wendi can make direct contact so you can get this resolved.
