My first day back to work not being as stressful as I thought it would be. The new position might be OK for now. I feel like a regular person for a change with daytime hours. I've never had the 9-5 office job. Ever!

Although I am only working 4 hours for these first two weeks which is nice.

Most people had a somewhat difficult time recognizing me because of my weight loss, beard and me not wearing a suit. All said I look good. That felt nice anyway. Very welcoming bunch of people.

DEER HUNTING

Waking up at 4:30 am three days in a row;

Standing statue still in a 4x4 ft box while

holding a live firearm and

being buffeted by sub-zero windchills

for hours on end;

Wearing several layers of clothing

to the point of being only marginally mobile;

then marching through wilderness and cornfields

wearing the same outfit (with a live firearm in hand).

Dragging three deer out of the woods for about

200 pounds of venison meat;

Having outlandishly large meals with all extended the family

AND the neighbors' extended family;

Hearing a 1 year old nephew blow a fart that made ME jealous;

Telling hunting stories until the wee hours by firelight

in a small cabin older than anyone alive today;

It's all good. And I lived through it!

Started with some of the assignments too.... lots and lots of research - thank god for the internet!!

Now if I can only get my study partner to agree to splitting the assignments where she does half and I do half then we can be done by Christmas!!

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad

Carry you around when your arthritis is bad

All I wanna do is grow old with you.

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches

build you a fire if the furnace breaks

Oh it could be so nice, growin old with you.

I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold.

Need you, feed you, I'll even let you hold the remote control.

So let me do the dishes in the kitchen sink

Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink.

Oh I could be the man to grow old with you.

I wanna grow old with you.

enjoy: 9 am this morning, it was 72 degrees. it's now 11 and damn near 80. which is really really strange for us. I'm going to SF tomorrow, and it's supposed to be 75. Its not even 75 in the SUMMER there.

At mid-night last night it was still 60. Sooooo random. But I'm gonna enjoy it while I have it.

also enjoy: a really really good doctor. I went yesterday for my follow up to my strep culture, and sure enough it was positive. I am a carrier.

so now I have a refferal to an ENT specialist.

I also have a refferal for an asthma specialist AND a sports med doc for my knee pain when I'm kick boxing.

Sweet. I have excellent Health Insurance.. I'm gonna get all fixed up.

I'm following your story on strep. I think I may have the same crap. I get it way to often, I went soooo many years with nothing, then all of a sudden, I have it all the time? WTF? (although not so much latley)

As a child I had strep often 5-6 times a year and as an adult up until last year really I'd get it a minimum of 2 up to 4 times a year still. The doctors wanted me to take my tonsils out I said forget it, it's way to risky as an adult verses a kid...I think I didn't have strep at all last year...then again I hear the word strep and I run the other direction...:frown: Wait I did have it last year I got it from Elizabeth Never mind I still am getting it. It sucks!

I had my tonsils out at the age of 7. Never have had strep again.

Our daughter called this morning with big news.

The courts have ordered her adoption records opened and a copy of all her file sent to her.

She has been working at this for three years.

She will now have names of her biological parents.

She has always had a burning desire to know and now she will.

She is debating whether or not to wait until she is home for Christmas to open the package once she gets it. I'm guessing it'll take her about 5 minutes once it comes for her to pop the thing open and start reading.

I'm excited for her that she will have her hands on the information she has craved for so long.

And I know she is as ready as she'll ever be for whatever that means down the road.

thats so kool!!!! I think it is good for people to get to know that but at the same time I dont know there is a reason they did or dont know it!! and some times thats best left that Way!!! because the people that are being surched out arent willing to know who or what!!!

but Again I am happy she gets to know after all these years of wanting to!!!

She has, through the adoption agency, been able to know her bio mom is alive but didn't choose to meet her at that time - now about 4 years ago.

Her bio dad didn't even know that there was a pregnancy - so doesn't have a clue she exists.

But we know his name is in the records as the bio mom shared that with the agency.

If she chooses to search for him, he will be in for one big surprise!

She doesn't want to know her biological parents as substitute parents for us, but she has always had a burning desire to know who she came from - her roots.

Our son has never been interested in finding his Korean bio family, but she always has and that's common with adopted children to want to know.

This will give her the names and some background she doesn't know and the opportunity to search further if she chooses.

She is well aware of what she might find - good, bad or a rejection....but she wants to know. We are happy that she is being given the chance.

yes like I said I am happy she gets the chance!!!

In a lot of states there is now if and or buts you cant get that INFO!!!

like CA!! I tried to help a friend out a few years ago that wanted to just know who they where but in CA they wont give you ANYTHING at all!!

I guess got to protcet the movie stars!! lol

But no that is so kool that she get the Choice to see what she wants to do!! on all acounts and I know there would be no way she would want to Substitute for you 2 I wouldnt eather!! you 2 are great!!!

I feel it can be important for medical history purposes.
Sun, 11/16/2008 - 4:51 AM Permalink
Terry

Medical history would be good...

But for her it's all about knowing. She has had that desire to know for almost as long as I can remember.

Earlier, it was questions about how someone could look at a baby they gave birth to and then give it away.

Since the bio mom rejected her again when she chose not to meet a few years ago, and at that time she was hoping to learn something about her bio dad, it's been about knowing what's in her records about him. We'll see if she chooses to search for him...but whatever she chooses, I'm thrilled she has been given this opportunity.

wow

I'm very interested to hear how this goes for her

thats too bad about her biological mom :frown: - I think I would go observe my dad first before knocking on his door. But the medical and family history would be a great gift to have from this.

my grandpa was adopted out of St Louis MO and up until a couple years ago I still couldn't get any info. He had even passed away.

When I get back into the geneology I will try again. but at the time I think it was because it hadn't been 75 years since he died and I was not him asking.

interesting stuff - good luck to her and you and Inks

If you are a carrier tho - you aren't getting it from the people around you. You just always have it in your body, and it shows itself when you are tired or rundown. It's an easy test to find out if you are or not. You go to the doc when you are healthy, and they swab your tonsils - if it pops up positive, bingo you are a carrier.

20% of (non-carrier) kids will get it during an average year (and not every year) Only 5% of (non carrier) adults will get it during an average year, and not every year. Which means if you do get it frequently, then chances are - you're a carrier too.

I'm tired and run down today - it better not pop back up this week. I have too much to do!

I can see how she'd want to know. My dad didn't know I existed (he died 8 months before I was born) and although I have tangible items, letters, photos of him.. the desire to actually get to meet him, face to face - well, I'd give anything for 5 minutes.

enjoy: This weekend. Friday - I made sushi with some friends, that part was soso - but it was still 85 at 10pm when we went in the hot tub (ya insane weather for here, even in summer) we met a dad and his 10 yr old son, and the kid was just witty and brilliant, and at 10 years old, had 6 adult women on the edge of their seat waiting to see what he was going to say next.

he told us when we said we made sushi, that we could get tapeworms from it. We all laughed and said, well, that's wouldn't be so bad.. (good weight loss) as we were getting out of the hot tub at the complex, he says - good night ladies, I'll start saving my allowance to buy you each a tape worm.

Then Saturday - I went to the city - golfed the Presidio, it was 85 (amazing - unheard of) not windy and we had dim sum after.

Then I went to a friends house and got to see some other friends I haven't spent time with in forever.

Sunday - my "brother" from Juarez MX, is visitng all of us in the club and I went to the snoopy museum, the luther burbank house (and gardens) the pub, and then we had thanksgiving dinner (early) with about 30 of our friends, then he came to my soccer game, and we stayed out til almost 2 am (i'm tired)

I had a whole day with him, and we spoke, english, spanish, spanglish and a little german and italian tossed in with it all for good measure.
