Its a research paper for a course I'm taking. I graduate in December with by BA. The actual paper I'm working on is Critical Issues involving women in the correctional system. There is tons of information on the subject I'm just having a hard time translating it to my own paper...I'm spending way to much time reading and not enough time writing. I find the subject matter very interesting but I hate writing so here I am on AB talking about writing a paper I shuold be writing...lalala Paper? What paper?

wow - ya. I don't think i'd want to write about that either (although I agree, it would be interesting to read)

It isn't that I don't want to write about it. I'm just a horrible writer. Some people can write pages and pages of nothing at all..I'm very straight and to the point and I don't typically embellish much so it's a struggle to write really long papers. I can write up to about 5 pages with out much of a problem but beyond that I don't know what else to write...

I think you are probably a very good writer if you write straight and to the point!

It just makes it tough to meet the requirements of some assignments!

Yeah well straight and to the point has only gotten me to about 6 1/2 pages only 4 1/2 to go lol.

"Straight and to the point" always turned three pages of notes into a 10-page essay for me...

(That and a type writer that could do 1-1/2 line spacing - hey, it wasn't double spaced.)

Not really an irritate.. more of a "I'm really tired" of Scouts...

My pack is a great pack with great families... just after 15 years I'm done.

This past Saturday I went to a "activity" day with 4 of my Scouts - Lots of people recognized me and kept asking my opinion on a bunch of stuff (many related to the business of scouting, which I have been out of for 3 years now)... While this can be a nice thing... I'm a little tired of it - it's more of a chore now...

oh well - 1 year 6 months to go!!

My parents tried to deal with Scouting for about six months - they pulled me out because they got six of the weekly meetings and driving around (the nearest group was 5 miles away).

They set us up in 4-H instead - Monthy meetings - less demands for parents. We stayed in that through high school. Kinda sad since we had two neighbors that became Eagle Scouts and we could've easily done it as well - if we had our own car - which we NEVER did.

And now for something completely different...

Does anyone have a bird feeder with one of those round anti-squirrel shields on it? I'm wondering if you can coat that bad boy with silicone or something to make it extremely slippery. We've got four grey squirrels that are real pigs at the feeders. I'm seriously thinking about a live trap.

Coat the pole and/or baffle with Vick's. They hate the smell.

See, i'm the opposite, I can take 2 pages and turn them into 20. MY HS english term paper was 102 pages (just long enough to beat this other guy who wrote 100) and it was basically fluff.

Good luck with the remaining pages! I'm sure you will do fine. Remember:

"Therefore", "however", "be that as it may" - are all great ways to step into a tangent and then reunite yourself into the main topic, all the while adding sentances (and fluff)

I've actually followed those suggestions about types of bird food almost to the letter. I don't have a yard big enough to suspend a horizontal line with a baffle - they'd probably take a flying leap from a nearby tree.

Our feeder pole has the baffle about 40" off the ground - any higher and the feeders would be lower than the baffle, making it useless. A couple of the squirrels figured out they can take a flying leap off the grill and barely grab the feed pole. I moved the pole & grill away another couple feet and somehow they still find a way. I'm gonna try Fleet Farm to see if they have a taller feed pole.

I have never seen or heard of a way that is full proof.

I have heard that if you have patience you can train the squirrels to stay away -something to do with constant shoeing them away and throwig food that squirrels like in a different area of the yard. yes, you would have to start feeding the squirrels. greasing the thing sounds like it would work. I would think Vicks would keep the birds away too though.

We do have a squirrel baffle on one of our feeders up north. Works like a charm.

The feeder isn't near anything those furry critters could leap from to bypass the baffle so it works slick.

so....

our car died today on County Rd C and Snelling.....

we're pretty sure it was either the clutch or the transmission....

I was on my way to pick Carolyn up from work, at the time...

almost got hit by a buncha cars, trying to run for the gas station to use a phone...

also probably should have been arrested for attempting to assault some guy who couldnt speak english, who thought he was helping me - but actually put me in more danger, almost killing me some more

had the car towed back here.... Carolyn gotta ride home...

as it sits.... right now.... she's taking atleast tomorrow off, because theres simply no f'n way to get to New Hope, from the East Side of St. Paul, with no car....

we're having the car towed to Saab in the a.m. to find out exactly wtf is wrong and how much it'll be to fix (probably wont matter, because we wont have the money to cover it).....

as well as hope to get a loaner or rental someplace cheap..... or preferably free....

only good news is - im paying off my dads lawyer tomorrow, thus ending a year and a half probate battle, and getting what is/was rightfully mine, and what he wanted me to have, WITHOUT having to go thru this bull-shit, anyways - the house/estate and everything in it....

which now includes not just one classic car, in the garage - badly in need of complete restoration (we're probably gonna sell it), which has been more of a burden, really - but now make that 2 cars that dont run.

yay.

oh....

and I still need a new job.

Nick -

My neighbor (lives off of Edgerton behind Edgertom school) repairs cars and his labor is a lot cheaper than a dealer... He works at the UofM but does other repairs out of his house for extra cash...

If you are ever interested. Closer to home and a little cheaper.

If I wasn't already at work when I read this AND she didn't work in NEW HOPE! Id given her a ride. NEW HOPE! wtheck is she doing working in NewHope? wow. crap, I don't know anyone with an extra car either.

HEY, however, I do know a person with a pretty great condition couch she wants to get rid of for FREE. If anyone is interested let me know. I can't get it in to my family room basement. You just have to come get it SOON! Its a green blue and red plaid 7 foot couch hardly ever used. I looked under the cushions and there are no stains. FREE FREE!!! just get it moved. GREAT for a family room OR Nick and Carolines livingroom!!!! hint hint.

can anyone help move it to nick and carolines if they want it?

irritates:

Attorneys. probate court (nick I feel for you)

Deadlines. Mortgage brokers. Loan Sharks.

Responsibilities. Red Tape. Government Regs.

Bills. Insurance. Bitchy people who really have nothing to do, so they ride your ass until you want to slap them.

I got a new tire, new brakes, a EGR (ommissions?) valve, and a bunch of other stuff a belt, a fluid flush, oil change, and other crap I can't remember- to the tune of $900.00 on monday on my car -- and now it's making new 'fun' noises, like someone is locked under the hood and banging on it from the inside and a wierd shrill hum at times when I go around corner -- oh and then it sorta sneezes too.

But the car has 214k miles on it.... i guess i should be happy it runs.

hopefully the garage didnt forget to remove the munchkin they put in there to fix it.....

although... I suppose you could always keep it, and make it do stuff....

like... dance funny, or feed you grapes, or clean the house and stuff....

hopefully Saab leaves us one of those guys....

The Saturn dealership / repair center off I-94 near 3M is closing. I could 'smell' that happening for more than six months now.

We got a postcard last weekend saying "We've Moved" and come visit us in White Bear and IGH. Um, those locations have already been established... sounds more like "We've Closed". I wonder how many more GM-related businesses are going to "Move" in the near future.

isn't calendar weeks something like Sun to Sat or Mon to Sun?

why would they screw the body clock up with Sat to Fri? idiots!

ours is Mon to Sun. Isn't there some history to that, like Caesars calendar or something. CONTEST and PROTEST!

as a kid I always thought it was Sun to Sat because calendars are split by the week that way.

Maybe the reason kids wear their pants so low (below the butt) is that people our age have bought up all the sizes that actually fit them.
