Adults throwing temper tantrums in public. We've got a guy here that works 2nd shift that is vocal and loud about anything that annoys him. I've been here after hours when something breaks down and he's thrown a couple AAA-grade hissyfits. Right now he's whining about something with his paycheck to a manager.
It's not my place to move the conversation outside, but that's where it should be. We've got guests touring the plant and I can hear his ranting from across the building. The guy is not violent or anything, but I think his hearing is bad because he seriously has no idea how loud he gets.
I got a manager to negate half of the $200+ overdraft charges. That was the "best" they could do.
The best they can do is drop all of them. Even if it was your fault. Yes, they can - regardless of what they tell you. I have been told that "we can only do X per year" and other BS... My friend manages a branch (don't remember which one) and had said before that it is a bunch of crap. They can do whatever they want with them, it doesn't affect the managers incentives, and doesn't get reported to 'higher'. I agree with Kitch. (There IS a reason we 'Ask Kitch, ya know) Make a big public stink. In person. Where it is busy. Like a Cub branch.
yeah I'm anal about missing stuff so I had to look at the dates of the last posted message in each thread but I did click the little glasses on all the threads that didn't have anything new.
There were a few posts in the Shoot the Breeze thread Saturday about how to quickly mark everything as read and get your message center working properly again. I will try to find them and post them here.
irritates: Smashing my finger in a car door on Friday on my way out of town - pretty deep cut. both sides of the finger. Prolly could have stood stiches, esp. when I started to drink..... :ooh:
Its better today - i've had it wrapped and cleaned and ointmented, but I'm really only typing with 9 fingers.. wierd
Irritates: being invited to participate in conference calls for a specific time EST or CST, when I believe they mean EDT or CDT.
When I try to clarify, not knowing if perhaps their state is one that does not participate (and it is not always obvious what state their e-mail is coming from!) they seem to not get what I am asking about.
They usually reply with something like, well, if you are on eastern time, then join us on eastern time. Ugh.
I think some people write EST or CST and don't really know what it means - like maybe they just think ST is something you put after the Eastern or Central designation.
I swear if I could see their face, it would either have an expression of annoyance or deer-in-the-headlights!
This happens quite often, believe it or not. Often enough to be irritating rather than merely puzzling.
Getting a phone call from securian financial group toady for a job interview and not knowing who they were. I told them I already had an offer and wasn't interested. :crying: :crying: :crying: Now I'm trying to call them back, but only have their generic front office phone # and I don't even know the guys name. :crying: I'm kicking myself now :coolfrown: :crying: :crying: :crying: I totally screwed this up!! This job is probly better than the one I'm supposed to start monday with Jones Lang LaSalle.
This one even has a pension plan, 401k, and stock option/profit sharing. :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
I'm so bummed out right now :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
I tried sending an email through their "contact info" on the web site and am calling the front office tomorrow and ask for HR. I also have a "media contact" number of some lady there I might try.
At least if it don't work out, I still have my new job starting this coming monday.
You're not even sure what this job offer was for. It was for an interview, not a job offer. You have an actual job you're going to start Monday. You wouldn't want to throw that away for an interview, would you? Just remember how excited you were about working for Jones Lang LaSalle. Everything happens for a reason.
I am thankful I have the other job. Its just that this one sounds even better. It was for a lead engineer vs an engineer at LaSalle. We'll see if I get a response from my inquiry. I am NOT going to lose a job I already have just for an interview. But it don't hurt to try and still do the interview if I can.
Well, yes. If you can work it out and get an interview in that's a good idea. Then if you get the offer there's nothing wrong with quitting the other job if the other one is more to your liking.
There are lots of what if's in our lives, but mostly things work out for the best.
L4V - Ouch!! Luckily you don't use your hands when you play soccer!!
Here are some pics of my nephews hand - -he rolled his ATV this past weekend when he was riding with Eddie Money (yup the rock star)
FORE WARNING....IT IS GROSS!!
He has a plate and a lot of pins in his index (pointer) finger, but the doctor decided to refrain from using any more hardware elsewhere for now. It all depends on how he heals.
edit - - ok - I'm removing that first picture, pre-stiches, too gross!
But really he is hanging in there. Not much else he can do at this point. Hopefully he won't need to many more surgeries and he is lucky and regains (some) use of it. He is just 23
Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I will share with him when I return home.
Our town home association held its annual (read:only) meeting of the year last night. Apparently nothing significant has been done for improvements to the properties for the last YEAR because they have been holding their breath. They are waiting for a settlement from legal arbitration over replacing bad shingles on ALL the town homes. Apparently this is supposed to be decided upon within the next week or two.
Background story:
Our town home development is huge - 240+ Units in over 20 buildings. They were built with those crappy CertainTeed organic shingles that were supposed to be 20 year and started falling apart after about 3-5 years. It has been 10-11 years for most buildings.
CertainTeed is stuck in a huge class action lawsuit and is not paying anything to anyone until that gets resolved. ---- Link to Lawsuit Needless to say, they stopped making those crappy shingles some time ago.
Sept 20th, 2007 had a huge hail storm and a F-0 tornado in Woodbury. Our insurance policy states if the same shingles are not available for repairs, the whole building needs to be re-shingled. A sister townhome development about 6 miles away got a full replacement costs (and new shingles) from the insurance company.
The same insurance paid our association about $90,000, which is barely enough for ONE building. Why did the sister development get replaced? They are only 86 units - we are over 240. Money talks, B.S. walks. Our association only has enough funds built up to replace about 5-6 structures, not 20+. So... we wait, and wait, and wait... watch chunks of shingles fall off the roof every time it rains, wait some more... inspect and pray for no water leaks, wait some more... AAAARGH!
And for those who think I should just press zero or say operator, sometimes that works. Often, all I get is disconnected.
I even checked the online FAQs before calling. Have you noticed how many websites do not offer any way to contact them if your questions are not answered?
Does anyone know of a phone company (land-line phones) that actually has customer service, as in a live person?
1st they tell me I only need lab work done...
lab comes back fine.
but now I need to see my doc to fill my meds :frown:
What irritates you?
everything
but I'm right there with you today.
I just want to slap about 100 people. Some of them, I may not even know yet, and most of them, I can't explain why.
It's not my place to move the conversation outside, but that's where it should be. We've got guests touring the plant and I can hear his ranting from across the building. The guy is not violent or anything, but I think his hearing is bad because he seriously has no idea how loud he gets.
Sorry I missed your birthday. Happy belated birthday!
bummer.
ask him if he'd like a nice warm cup of shut the hell up.

Duh, you probably already knew that - There were very few new messages posted in the last 24 hours or so - if that makes you feel any better
If your message center doesn't work after they upgraded the site Saturday see this link at post 19553 to enable it again:
