I have a list of parks that I'm noodling...in order of preference at least until the next clue comes....

Capitol Mall

Newell

other possibilities...Highland, Battle Creek and Merriam.

Big help, huh?

Why does clue 3 say "figure these out". 9-5 = 4. What could this mean? It's been bothering me.

Why Hillcrest - A lot of stretches but here goes - NO Golf Course - Sledding - numbers on the door - 954 - baseball diamonds - librabry for studying past - new

addition 2 years ago - I believe Judaism believes in iconoclism - Ford offers his name - said with a slur forward found in all big books - and lastly Parkway is a street

adorned with trees - Ford Parkway.

How does Capitol mall fit with flying downhill, or 9-5-4?

coasters 32 have not got the 954 thing yet. that could add subtract divide multiply who knows... they do say keep score...address ???

The giant slide that is this year in Como, used to be along Cedar next to the Capitol Mall. I-94 is adjacent to the mall area....and the 5? Must be a 5 somewhere.

Those numbers could probably be found just about anywhere. I wonder if it might be referring to something the medallion is hidden in...instead of something seen

from the site.

Plus, at Hillcrest, between Bohland and Ford Parkway, We saw lots a folks with shovels near the Tennis courts today.

maybe somebody knows from the past-- do things like the capitol mall fit within the definition of a "park". Note that this year it explicit says that "a park is the spot,"

whereas in past years all it has said is that is on public ground.

I was at 4 parks today: Highland, Merriam, Newell, and Battle Creek. I think I like Mer. best, but bc is solid too. Where is the 5 at Merriam? The exit for Snelling

says 51, but that seems to be a stretch. Any thoughts?

about where is the 900 block of como...or Lex or Marryland are there any parks in the 900 block af any streets in st paul?

Gonna - The five is on the door to the center - open 9-5.

dave matthews... what center?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:37 PM Permalink

I think we should each just pick out our favorite park options and go search every square inch of St. Paul !

The Capitol Mall was referred to as public ground in 89. Similar verbage this year.

And I've been trying to remember, but it does seem to me that as the Peace Officers Memorial was dedicated, that area might have been given a name...but I'm not

sure.

according to the treasure hunter's guide, newell park doesn't seem to have clue #3: "A nine and a five and somewhere a four," but Merriam Park has the sign on the

Park building, open 9-5 and 9-4. so, dan and barbi-> what are your ideas on Newell park? Marriam is just south of 94 and adjacent to Longfellow Magnet school.

Dan & Barbi - the community center at Merriam Park

why does clue 3 say "numbers keep score" and "figure this out"....just an idea but is this a math theme? Is there some kind of a math building with a 954 in the

adrress...long shot

We think that the "trees in a line" Has to do with a name. line forms Neil, what could trees in a mean? Trees could = Street. What do you think? Any parks that

could have to do with this?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:38 PM Permalink
dave matthews

Or trees in a line could be a Grove - as in Grover Cleveland.

Has Rice Park been checked out? Clue No. 2, 'but you're chances are nil if you get too close to the action. The main 'action' is at como.

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:40 PM Permalink
dan and barbi

don't know where Newell park is again? say why you all would rule out como so I can stop thinking about it/.

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:40 PM Permalink

Newell Park is at Fairview and Pierce Butler Route just west of Snelling

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:41 PM Permalink
dan and barbi

today the action was at rice park.

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:41 PM Permalink

Rice Park is where all the ice sculptures are. That action is not where the medallion is.

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:42 PM Permalink
Little Monkey

Rice park is filled with ice sculpture. Address is approx. 95 4th St. Library (James HILL) across steet. River Centre is new and has goals. Statue of Fitzgerald,

famous guy. Trees seem to point to Washington Street. Stretching here. And it's a popular outdoor attraction?

is there a scoreboard at Newell?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:43 PM Permalink
New Daddy

def; MALL, a large area usually lined with shade trees and shrubbery websters. could this lead us to the capital mall or to be really iconoclastic indoors to town

square park?? thanks Terry VAl. I think I'll look at the capital mall

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:43 PM Permalink
Terry

You can see Midway Stadium from Newell and I understand during the daylight hours you can see part of the scoreboard. There is no scoreboard in Newell.

It would seem that if the puck was hidden at HP there would be some obscure clue to the water towers. Maybe they are numbered "9 & 5"?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:45 PM Permalink

I still don't think the capitol mall is a "park." Saying it is public ground is different. Lots of things are public ground but not a park.

Okay....here's another rambling thought.

Four score and 7 years ago....

Gettysburg Address? Does this fit anywhere?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:47 PM Permalink

No score boards at Newell. Tennis courts across the street on their own block. Sand box between shelter and the park house has a jungle gym shaped like a stage

coach. Doesn't fit.

I went to 4 parks today: battle creek, merriam, newell and highland. I like merriam and bc best. I like the idea that clue #4 means it's in a new park...so unless #8

reveals something new, I like merriam. BUT...where's the 5 at Merriam? The exit sign for Snelling says 51, but that seems a stretch. Any thoughts?

Just read the open 9-5 on the rec center door...sounds good

I simply can't wait to put on my digging gear and hit the parks with my golf clubs... I'm new to these chat rooms, how about a warm welcome??? Are you people

going to como and ride on the slide? Ok enough chat down to buisness. Here's what we think of the number thing... 9 men, i mean people, on the baseball field, 5

people to a side on the hockey rink, and 4 people on a tennis court whatdoya think?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:49 PM Permalink

Another Random though - Merriam Park is not only a park - it is a neighborhood in St. Paul - their library is new and there is a protestant church right next door -

who says it is in an outdoor park?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:50 PM Permalink
Cheryl Straight

I have scoped out several? places....

Irvine park was happening around 4:00 - after antiques show, went back and found the place pretty dug up. (can force most of the clues to fit)

Stopped by Harriet on Thursday PM - not a digger in sight or evidence of digging (clues don't seem to fit there - although I thought there might be a learning

connection)

"Kellogg" park wasn't too dug up on Thursday - still don't know how the clues all fit...

Capital somehow makes sense to me.... but haven't checked it out yet

Couldn't be Rice - not enough ground to dig (scuptures and wires everywhere)

How about you Terry?

Sat, 01/30/1999 - 7:51 PM Permalink
Terry

A warm welcome Diggers! Hello!!!!

I think the number thing could be just about anything. Numbers are everywhere...and those 3 represent about 30% of all possible numbers.
