Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.

If we ever get to a period of prosperity, know that the cooler crew could be unified; the domain owner of coolercrew.com has an open invite to host the domain and all related web content to a unified hosting facility. The same offer goes to the treasure hunter’s guide site, the hunt ‘matrix’ thinger, and anyone else who has hosted a medallion hunting site. I will personally pay for a vBulletin or other workable forum license and train those individuals who moderate this community to moderate a new one. I will personally work with everyone to visually customize everything and install modifications to _enable the community to run itself_. The services I offer are quality, commercial grade services that are reliable and are located in secure facilities, and don’t go down when people use them heavily.
or as the webmaster, and owner of the domain, i'll handle hosting them, but thanks for your offer. at the moment, i'm investigating phpbb and the software that runs www.theperfectworld.us.
and know it will not be broken? How nice would it be to have a way to profile important posts from useless banter? How nice would it be to have a free-for-all community photo album at http://gallery.coolercrew.com/
that accepts user picture uploads so those candid shots people want to share can be easily given to everyone? How about a cooler crew dedicated live chat? Just about anything you could imagine is possible.
already in the works, on all counts, since we're not expecting this place to be stable enough to be useable come the next hunt.
I love the crew the way it is now. They opened their arms to me when I >didn't know a damn thing about hunting. They accepted my wife just as >quickly.
Couldn't have said it better myself, OTS...
You guys are great... I have said it a lot in e-grams to those that have contacted me... I think it is about time I said it to all, since you are ALL a part of what is making life so grand for me now... THANKS!!
I don't assume anything Matt. What I do know is that multiple comparisions have made between this place (the now) and the former "water cooler" (the then).
Will you be letting us know where to find the Cooler Crew next hunt?
After reading Matt's post, I have realized that most of the familiar names from previous years have not been around much here at this site. So, where is everyone from the old Cooler Crew?
Terra Server shows it SE of the midpoint between Upper Lake and Crosby Lake. There are also more ponds on the other side of35E.Â
Â
right at the trail Xing then...hmmmm....I like that...
Â
go past the wildflowers.....to the trail....around to the right....bend...past the big dead stump......to the trail X....X marks the spot.....oh I likey....
Â
hmmm...2nd spot for me to dig....2 bad my other spot is 45 mins away......
This is good news. Theperfectworld.us has a strong forum system. phpBB is being run for my cooperative and is great for an "evil" style forum but does not offer much in the way of abuse control beyond user banning. I suggest looking into vBulletin with some clever modification. If you're still planning on hosting these on your Visi DSL, please do reconsider. I can gladly give you web/e-mail/whatever on facilities located in Equinix Chicago on a better link than possible anywhere in the Twin Cities.

well, i for one haven't been around much, because tc and i have been out with zephy. most of the familiar names from here actually haven't been in here. they've been out at crosby. we ran into downtown dave out there today, and countless others over the course of the last week.
the coolercrew, at least through march 2009 when the domain needs renewal, will always be able to be found through www.coolercrew.com.

check out the feature list for v 3.0.

you have a problem with the dsl line that has been down for maybe 15 minutes in the last year?
Is Zephy the one that was in Iraq? Is he home for good now? I hope so!
Thanks for the info. But it does seem strange that so many old-timers are not on this forum. Must be at the "invite only" place that I didn't get invited to. :P
Ares, you better do what he says quick, before he tries to sound smart and misuses "allusion" again.
well i guess the way i see it, bear, is that no one is forcing him to be here, and that if he doesn't like the conditions, he shouldn't let the door hit him on the way out.
But thanks for being happy thinking I was home... I have been thinking that I was home all week... There are pics to prove it at www.coolercrew.com and www.coolertimes.com ...and the paper, and on the news, and all over town...
My family tragedies and KT's opinions have nothing to do with anything I've said about the community.
Pleasedo not tempt my pleas to read my posts and reply to what I've said, not what you think I'm saying. My gripes are not with the community, it's with the way it has become a private and exclusivecommunity that discourages everything it was built on to date.
I predate KT, and I predate a hefty number of you who are so quick to judge my comments as haughty flaming of you and your friends. I have adequate memories to recall, and I don't recall them with any bias against the fellowship made between the members of this community. Please stop insulting me as if I were.
At this point I am going to thank THX for the consolidation, and bow out to finish up work at $dayjob. Just because I don't post often does not mean I'm not here, which is largely the case with many more than myself, and it sure as shit does not mean I don't care.
Zephy, I have seen the pics and seen you in the paper too. Always smiling!! There are so many of us that don't know you but are VERY proud of you and all the people like you (servicemen and women, not treasure hunters!). Please know that there are many of us praying for you every day!
(disclaimer: we are proud of treasure hunters too)
ares- By god, no problems with Visi DSL. I had to give a hand to Doug and Mike when their dsl's 6400 kept running out of RAM but they're still top providers. If I were a DSL customer today I'd be connected to them for sure. If you ever have any troubles, I am pretty good friends with their lackeys without Horwath. :)
Can your ATM line even handle half of the number of packets peoplesforum generates at crunchtime? Really man it's not something you want to host off of, and I can show you if you'd like me to bring down coolercrew.com with apache benchmarks.
phpBB 3 is an admirable project, but it is also very vulnerable. I'm sure you'd have no complaints to say that vBulletin isn't superior (though not free.)
redbear- Instead of in forum-like manners "talking behind my back," Enlighten me with your learned prose, since I obviously don't know. If you're going to start acting like a horse's ass, then you're going to be treated like one from me at the least. Don't think I haven't gotten used to this argument after how many fingers worth of years.
Matt, I'm trying not to be exclusive with my information, and have my own thoughts as to private discussions. Eventually there's some information that people gather that don't like to post it because of the time they spent gaining that information. Undoubtedly everyone has their own private stashes of what they think is useful and will help them.
If someone asks me for something, usually I do my best to provide them with a reliable answer, as I'd like to think nobody would take advantage of my kindness, however the world isn't a perfet place, and some people will seek any advantage they can, even using other people, to gain what they want. It's those sort of people that I don't want having access to things I've spent a great deal of time on.
Since you asked for elightenment, Matt, I'll say this: Since you can't take a little fun, and you're obviously oversensitive to the point of insulting someone who's bigger, stronger, smarter and better looking than you, your fundamental problem is this: you're just not liked. And you know it. And that bothers you, becuase you're behind and you know it. and you don't even realize that even if you had a good point earlier, nobody cares, because you just resorted to name calling. So who really cares what you say? You're just another nobody who can't take a joke and is just another crybaby.
Â
But Matt, because I'm such a fantastic guy, I've given you a little project to redeem yourself; there are four (4!) grammatical errors in this post. Good luck!
Look, I think that lots of us can agree that it kind of sucks that the clue discussions are spread all over the place and that some of them are invitation only, when they used to all be on this site. That said, people can associate with anyone they want to, and they certainly don't have to share information if they don't want to.
And as for the future of this forum, infrastructure-wise, post your comments to the other thread. Remember, we're supposed to confine our discussion here to interpretation of the clues.
There are only three more. We can be nice to each other for three more days, I think...
I am sorry - I seem to have stepped through a portal into a pissing contest... oh wait - maybe I was just looking at the PP board.. nope - nope the back ground is green - dang. Thought I was in the wrong spot - spelling, grammar - neener neener - who can be keener...
I actually have a valid point to make on this post - yes, I do.  Yarrow (if ya'll aren't sick of it yet) Yarrow is a major player in the herb world of Wicca. It represents Love, Clairvoyance, Exorcism, Mystic Lore - is often put in Love Sachets and worn against negativity. You should hold some in your hand to stop all fear.
(have no fear !?!?!) I think right about now, I could use a little Belladonna in my tea...
Saw Cathy Hogan digging in Allison's "spot" and when we left Allison grabbed my parking spot. Went to Porky's for lunch. Drove by Newell - HEH looks like a ghost town. Declined the request to drive through CoNo, came home and slogged.
Re-Stocking the WIZARDS-mobile and heading back to what I hope is "the Park"
4600 Joe. Since I couldn't get out to THE Park again today, I'll entertain myself with this nice, round Joe. Much more pleasant, and no less relevant, than some of the other topics today.

yeah, zephy, you jerk! I was behind you in line Saturday and you refused to move.

I'd have more to say... But I can ramble on and on and on.....
(look at the war in iraq thread...)
Matt, please come to this link when you get a chance.
St. Paul Winter Carnival Medallion Hunt
I invite everyone.
Will do. Time to fly. Gotta go home from work, then rest and then hunt!
thx, feel free to move all of my posts relating to this discussion over to the new thread to avoid the thread drift.
Yeah, Zephy likes to read to clues over my shoulder, go buy your own copy! sheesh.
okay, overtime. bowing out is not yet possible.

Zephy, Fuck no! you live in a bad neighborhood. I'm not coming over to play. November, though, you're on.
So you're saying that you don't wanna come here and have a mock hunt???
Alright... November it is:)

Forget about grammar, how about plain ole' TRUTH. I can find 4 for your review.
Particularly, these terms are misused:
bigger, stronger, smarter, better looking
Please revise your paper and have it on my desk tomorrow morning. kthx.
..don't rely on your cheerleaders. They won't get you out of this one.
