You know.... in time we are going to have things so wired that there will be constant intel from the field minutes after it's gathered.

I'm anxiously stewing here at home over this hunt. I really wanted to go down to the Pioneer Press tonight and get the clue, that way I wouldn't be wondering about it all night like I did last night, but the logistics didn't work out. Went out to Como one last time tonight after dinner, but it got dark too quickly, and we forgot to grab flashlights, so we gave up pretty soon. We did peek over by the streetcar station though. Nothing really tells me its there, but it was worth a try.

My sister (and faithful treasure hunting sidekick) was convinced that the "up and around" part was refering to the carousel at Como, but I'm not convinced. The carousel area is too busy, with people for the zoo, mini golf, conservatory, amusement park, etc. all in that one area. If it's over in that general area at all, it'd almost have to be in the woods behind the mini golf. We've done some searching back through there the last two days, but there's just so much in there where it could be hidden.

Ok.. not sure what the clue is. Pay me called and asked who said. "Candy is Dandy but liqour is quicker".

Clue 5

A president or two will give you a clue

So will a governor of capitol renown

A school of hockey fame will also help your game

As you go jumping all around town

It's been said that candy is quite dandy

And we're certainly inclined to concur

But then again liquor is alleged to be quicker

That both are true we're quite sure

Merriam Park (presumably named after Minnesota's 11th governor), bordered by Wilder Street, a block from Cleveland Ave., a few blocks from Porky's. Fits four clues right there. Maybe I'll have to abandon Como tomorrow morning and check it out.

Okay, here's an interpretation of the clues I'm getting now: the "deke or two" they're throwing us is to lead us to one park and make us all think it must be there, but then saying that that park was just to get you in the area. The "place for beginners" was Como, but that was only to be "consider[ed]." Then, we're supposed to start moving "up and around." But perhaps the clue writers don't mean "up and around" Como Park, but rather, "up and around" the area. Hence, "you'll have to branch out to solve our mystery." Also, there's the mention of "as you go jumping around town" in today's clue.

It's just a guess, and I've been interpreting and re-interpreting these clues a hundred times now over these five days. Getting up bright and early tomorrow morning, so I had best go to bed now.

Thanks so much to everyone here who's been so friendly and welcoming, and best of luck to everyone ... even you lurkers!

OK I've caught up on all the posts. I was disappointed in today's clue it only lenghtened my list of parks. The president and govenor line didn't help only cuz there are dozens of streets with their names near ALOT of parks. The candy and liqour line intrigued me only because near the schmidt/landmark brewery is near Pearson's Candy Factory. (They make nut goodies)

Also the Hamm's brewery was right next to Swede Hollow. (Hamm=pig....Swede=sweet as in candy)

I also found it curious that they spelled "capitol" that way; not capital. I looked it up --- capital refers to a city, and capitol refers to the actual building. So that increases my pondering why they didn't list the State Capitol Grounds as off limits. hhmmm..

I checked out Cass Gilbert Overlook Park after work. Gilbert is the one who built the Capitol. Alot of clues fit that park. Near Capitol Heights St, and Como Ave, "Hockey school" could refer to UNIVERSITY Ave that sits below. Jackson (President) runs along the east side.

I dunno it's a stretch, it's not very big.

Checked out Kellogg park on my last break. I found 2-3 stone carvings of "Pigseye" along the railing. Was Kellogg a govenor? There is also a reference to Cass Gilbert (capitol) in the park.

Like I said this clues lost me more. I'm shying away from Como. I can fit most of the clues to Highland. But now I'm worried about all the rinky dink parks.

Never mind I found it. (The first was built at 10th and Cedar Streets in 1853, during the territorial period. Destroyed by fire in 1881, it was replaced two years later on the same site by a red-brick Victorian structure with a distinctive tower.)

OK I am totally consumed. I haven't slept much the past 5 days. Been eating BK and Dinty Moore. Basically non-productive at work. Totally neglecting the dog. (forgot to give her medicine yesterday) And the hubby hasn't even tried for sex this week.

Yep, it's a real hunt alright.

I admit it .....I'm a hunt addict.

ShoreviewD on the PP site had this noodle yesterday. "a place for beginners.....moving up and around" might be referring to Circus Juventas. It's a Circus school for children. Address is 1270 Montreal Ave. According to mapquest it looks like it practically lies within Highland park. According to it's website Circus Juventas is owned by Circus of the Star. Star = "heavenly guide"
