1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Step

I can't believe you are considering Newell...the guy who brought it up was joking and even he said there is no chance it's there.

I guess since everyone seems to be conviced about Newell...

regalman--I understand your points and they do make sense, but with the # of people this year, it has to be at a major park....that's all.

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:08 PM Permalink
Ms. Milwaukee

I understand

lurking*

that was a good point about the water.

Nelly--he said that they usually have a clue about water, but they haven't this year. Highland has the least water....

Ms. Milwaukee

Do police stations have #'s?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:10 PM Permalink
calvinator

Highland has 4 tennis courts and and 9 holes of golf plus a sliding hill!

If anyone wants my advice...

Beware people! A lot of people come in here to throw people off course.....remember everyone digging up mounds when it was at Cherokee? They were all at mounds cause people kept posting mounds everywhere. I'd go with your own instinct.

theMAPMAKR

There's basball fields and sliding in most of the parks. A $10,000 treasure will need a lot of parking. There are countless ways of using those numbers and making them fit. Why Como? Why Phalen? Why Battle Creek? Why Mounds? Why Highland?

this next clue better reveal a lot

anyone else having trouble posting?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:31 PM Permalink
calvinator

Does anyone know of a website that posts maps of st paul parks?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:34 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Heck, I'm having trouble even connecting to the cooler to read the posts, let alone post...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:35 PM Permalink
Vicki Kasal

good, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:36 PM Permalink

This past clue says "adorn the front door." The front door to what, or just front doors in general?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:38 PM Permalink
Vicki Kasal

Thanks for the help Ian! It is very much appreciated!!!

Good Advice Viki

I think that everyone is just generally stupified by the clues and doesn't know what to say!!!I am just trying to figure out the whole front door thing?

ThoseMedallingKids

Well I guess it helps to be on a network, at least for me. I wanna address that "big park" issue. I think it could be in a big park. With the extra people looking, they may just think of only the truly big parks. The smaller parks would only be considered by vets and those who live near small parks...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:41 PM Permalink
Vicki Kasal

I'm leaving in five minutes to figure out the numbers. I want to try and rule out the numbers on buildings.....so you'll see me running towards doors out there

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:42 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Oops, I meant to say I think it could be in a small park...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:42 PM Permalink
Vicki Kasal

see you all at 11:30

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:43 PM Permalink
calvinator

I think the big park issue is right on, this puppy's worth some mucho denero so why try to hide it in a small park, they'll be so many people digging that there won't be a little park left!

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:43 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

I have a feeling that with tonight's clue we'll be able to tell if it is a big park or not...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:44 PM Permalink
calvinator

I hope that it points out something signifigant rather than what's been said already. I am so confused

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:45 PM Permalink
william schaaf

anyone think 954 has soemthing to do with what it is in

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:46 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Like I said before, the first two seem to tell where not to look, but that I think is for the sake of the land not being destroyed. The third clue seems to tell where in the park its close to, or in what it is hidden...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:47 PM Permalink
william schaaf

clue 3 usually gives u what contains the medallion

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:47 PM Permalink
calvinator

My thoughts are that it either has to do with golf 9+5+4=18, or that it has to do with the surroundings(highland has 4 tennis courts, and two courses 18, and 9 )

old fat lady??? are you in here?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:49 PM Permalink
calvinator

There is 450 acres at Como ????? 4 5 0 ?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:49 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

I don't buy the 9+5+4 =18 hole golf course. Its that "somewhere a four" that leads me to believe that...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:50 PM Permalink
calvinator

get this. There are also 4 tennis courts at como, "downhill" skiing, golf and sliding, plus a warming house hence "front door" ?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:51 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

There are a lot of places that can have a front door. Warming houses, community center, golf clubhouses, restrooms...

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:54 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

Anyone know the score of the Gopher game?

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:55 PM Permalink

Ok what about a scoreboard?????

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:56 PM Permalink
MedallionGuy

where is the warming house in Como?????

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:56 PM Permalink

I think it's just us

Tue, 01/26/1999 - 7:57 PM Permalink

I don't know, I have this thing paper that lists everything that's at como park and it's on there!
