It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
Dave
Allison that would be so very True!!!! Lookin at Como too!
Birdie & Dave - "Our doubts make traitors of us all" - are people really still thinking HP or Como - #4 solidifies NP> Don't ya think???!!! Or am I nuts!!!!!
i*con*o*clast, i*kon'o*klast, n, [Gr. eikon and klastes, a breaker, < klao, to break.] One who attacks cherished beliefs or institutions; one who destroys or opposes the veneration of religious images or icons.
Como has a golf course and plenty of downhill thrills (sledding, skiing, roller coasters), a popular outdoor attraction (the Zoo, conservatory, amusement park, all things they would rather not have destroyed). Plenty of softball fields. The 9,5,4 may refer to a container. I always discounted it until now because it was there so recently. So maybe what they're saying is don't pay so much attention to past hunts. Be a rebel!
Our new governor was in a way an iconoclast, maybe it refers to something about him since he won. And someone mentioned the hunt being something about that earlier on!
newell is behind municipal stadium, on pierce butler. being there are going to be more people since its worth 10000,chances are it will be in a good size park. Newell Park is TINY!
Hmm, well, if that wasn't a worthless clue, then I don't know what is. I'll still have to go out and look. Where is everyone going? Perhaps a Perkins gathering for some pop and fries might be in order afterward?
Also, understand that there really haven't been any calculus formulae involved in the correlation to the numbers in clues. So, I'd suggest forgetting the "Hey, 9+5-4+9-4+5*9/4+5 = the exact deviation of my aunt's former roommate's slouch when he was going to the bathroom (eh, Pee pee? PP? Pioneer Press?"
And again, I don't recall golfing around at Newell Park a whole lot. Perhaps someone could refresh me.
Also, can someone verify for me that Highland is a 9 hole course? That will DEFINATELY seal my ideas.
THEY SAY THERE'S "VALUE" AT NEWELL - YA KNOW LIKE 10K WORTH OF VALUE. THEN AGAIN #4 SCARES ME BECAUSE THIS WAS TOO EASY TO FIGURE OUT - EVEN BY THE THIRD CLUE. STUDYING THE PAST DEFININETLY REFERS TO TAYLOR (PREZ IN 1849). WHAT DO YOU THINK??
Battle Creek is Ramsey County NOT St.Paul look back at previous hunt clues! They never said St. Paul for Battle Creek, cause half of it isn't in St. Paul!
Ah, I see your argument for Newell, but can anyone reconcile it with the other clues? Was the golf course a total red herring? Is there "downhill flying" at Newell?
STALLION LOOK AT MY EXPLANATION ON MSG 33XX - AROUND 11:00 TONIGHT. BIRDIE - I'M PUTTING ON MY SORELS - WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM - I'VE GOTTA COME FROM WOODBURY.
Allison: And other reople who think that information in the clues are a goose chase, look back a hundred posts or so and read the conversation there. I've done enough talking about that.
Lets Not Forget I Went to Newell Earlier This Evening and the Number 4 Fits In. Whos with me on this maybe we could head over there tonite or get a bite and mull it over?
It also seems just a bit suspicious that they would reveal the name of a small park so soon. Then again, maybe that's the iconoclast part. But if they want a drawn out hunt (which I imagine increases advertising revenue), it just wouldn't make any sense to do so.

This clue is telling us what we'll find it in

Iconoclast is a person who, in the 20th century, will break tradition and do what he (in this case the iconoclast is a he)wants

Our new governor was in a way an iconoclast, maybe it refers to something about him since he won. And someone mentioned the hunt being something about that earlier on!
Allison--I am totally with you!
They have never buried it at the same park within three years...this is the third for como!
newell is behind municipal stadium, on pierce butler. being there are going to be more people since its worth 10000,chances are it will be in a good size park. Newell Park is TINY!
Gold N' Boy - What I'm trying to get at is how the previous clues indicate Newell Park. I don't know where it is, or anything about it . . .
Hmm, well, if that wasn't a worthless clue, then I don't know what is. I'll still have to go out and look. Where is everyone going? Perhaps a Perkins gathering for some pop and fries might be in order afterward?

-Matt
