I think the 4th clue is telling us to break tradition.

..."it's not at highland"... Why? And why am I wrong? What the hell, Jorge, you had better <censored> READ what I'm saying, you ignorant retard.

I'm still mulling through clues before I go out. Anyone perhaps want to collaborate around Highland, then perhaps scope out other parks?

Dave - you going out tonite or tomorrow ? Has birdie left already?

In other words, don't follow the tradition of the past sites, which means that it actually could be Como or it's in a completely different park where it's never been hidden.

A house just off pierce butler and Newell displays large black address X95. Newell still looking good even though very early. No sliding or golf enhances it's appeal. Iconoclastic reasoning would place it at a small park.

in 1984 it was at newell and it still went down to the last clue.....it is not that tiny of a park

Do yall think it could be at Como, or do you think its most probably at Newell??? Help me outttttttt!!!

Hey Joe - tell birdie I got kicked out and couldn't view messages for about 1/2 hour. I've got a contingent going out tomorrow at about 10:00 pm - if the bird doesn't stumble on it tonight. Tell bird to e-mail me at Saintly B@aol.com. We had NP since #2.

I know you people think you have it all right but I think I know the answer!! Here it goes, A blast from the past would be the battle of Lexington (lexington st !!!). the battle of lexington is also the first battle of the revolutionary war!! Which is a iconoclast. If anybody thinks like me respond please :-) HEy by the way newell is only ten acres that is not a lot? Lexington goes into hp and como

Amy Ho-ez

I'm thinkin its either Como or Newell, but don't ask me why I think that haha!

Wed, 01/27/1999 - 12:39 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

To say its at Newell you basically have to interpret the first two clues as telling you about things that the park doesn't have. This seems like a bit of a stretch, especially with #2. I think its easier to fit the clues to Como. Yet the WELL...NEW in Clue #4 is hard to totally discount too.

Hmm... There's a lot pointing everywhere. Newell appears to have a lot of numeric influence. But, people, I reiterate, they DO NOT TELL YOU WHAT'S NOT NEAR UNLESS THE SITE HAS SOME SORT OF CORRELATION WITH WHAT'S MENTIONED. Most of the allusions to "iconoclast" that I've seen are wrong, too. an iconoclast is a destroyer, not a "don't listen to past hunts" direction.

On another note, perhaps the medallion is in a 'shout' detergent container? I can't seem to find anything else that alludes to this, and there's usually something by now.

Also, I'd like to take this time to voice my disapproval this year on the lack of maintainence of the equipment running this web bulletin board. It needs work. Perhaps someone up in the rafters can hear this and contact me for some better sounding solutions.

what about the second line with the word "new" as in NEWell park?

Wed, 01/27/1999 - 12:42 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

The people I know who work at Como may kill me for saying this, but the conservatory was just remodeled. It is a thing of the past which is also now new. They also have new pavilions on the picnic grounds.

Anyone recall who the William Wallace (type) band of people were that were iconoclasts--ravaging the countryside/// sided against the Catholic church of england? I recall them being called the "HIGHLANDERS!!" They destroyed churches and ICONS!!!

The best night of noodling yet. Newell is strong with its "well in the new" reference, but it really is hard to rule out Como, as well as any of the little parks where it hasn't been found yet. Fat words like "iconoclast" are fun -- I love it that someone almost got "a lost coin" out of it (where's the second "c"?). This clue is basically saying to me that past ideas like finding patterns used in choosing the hiding place and having all clues point to the right park can go out the window (so I think you're on the right track, Allison Wonderland). The first couple of clues could actually be elimination clues, something we usually don't see.

Marsh: Good stuff, gonna scope some maps and follow up.

I must say, though, that I wish I had looked at Newell a while back, at least to get an idea of what's going on. I'm definately going to run by there tonight... err... this morning (I do readjust my body clock for this event. :)

I'm still curious as to why people will find one aspect in one clue and run off with their shovels. I'm still not finding continuity in como, phalen, or newell. I am finding a bit of stability around Highland. There's a lot of things that I can't overlook in Newell, Phalen, and Como, aye, but it's just too much of a string hanging for me to say, "Hey!! There's one piece of info that fits that place! It's there!! I'm sure of it!" So far, I've not fit in a "numbers keep score" allusion to any place BUT Highland.

Anyone know if that Perkins on Ford Pkwy is open late?

I still think clue #3 will tie this up more tidy once someone figures out what address has a 9, 5, and 4. I doubt it's a house address. They used to do that back in the dayz, but I don't think that would fly these days. "I'll sue yer asses if'n you use my address" comes to mind. Have I missed a solid address discussion re: "adorn the front door" ???

Newell Park seems like the best bet.

Iconoclast probably just stomps the feeling that they would hide it in a big park this year.

Studing the past can be quite a blast.... But theres value as well in the new... (simply put says stay away from newell) just another elimination clue!!

if you people dont think that zachary taylor......president 150 years ago...... same as papers anniversary .....isnt the thinking in the past and the new does not mean newell you are on the wrong track.......IT IS AT NEWELL
