Supply Vulchers. I have the misfortune of sharing an office wing with a different entity of our corporation. (i.e. one with their own budgets, and purchase codes etc)
So far in the 3 months they've been down there, they've exhausted a years worth of my color ink carts. a years worth of my paper supplies, etc. oh and the entire facilities postage allotment on 1/3 of their latest project.
I went to my supply cab to get paper for my printer - the shelves are bare.
$%*$(%*^*%$*($($*!!!!
lucky for me - my manager who the budget is under, is a nickel pincher... he's pretty mad about this - so there might be something actually done, however in the mean time - i'm hoarding my 2 reams of paper I borrowed from a different cost center.
Went to the high end store and ordered a deli sand - Salami, Cheese, pickle and tomatoe on a roll. these suckers are $6.99 cause they are usually chock full of stuff. This place is known for the king sized sammy.
got it back to my office - it had - and I kid you not 3 circles of salami in the entire sandwhich. So I called the manager to complain - and she made me bring the sandwhich back down (which I did) and do you know what she did? She SHRUGGED at me.
I made her refund the $ and went to the deli next door - where I got a very nice sandwhich and a pickle. :0)
I woulda walked back into her deli during LUNCH hour ...opened the sandwich and showed all the salami and said "LOOK at all this SAALAAMI!...now "Clark's" knows how to make a sandwich"! give the manager a smirk and walk back out.
this isn't a rant or a rave but just feels strange.... lately we havn't been able to go anywhere without Mark getting stopped by people who've seen him on tv. - they end up taking up time talking plants or tv stuff.
It happened about 5 times at the fair, out to eat and yesterday at Sarahs Volleyball game at Visitation in Mendota Heights.
oh and Sarahs team won "best 2 of 3 matches" in her first game in Senior High School!
they actually won back to back matches so there wasn't a 3rd match. even better!
It's more competitive and more structured that it ever was when I was in highschool. The school plays rock music as the girls come running into the gym all fired up. When they practice before the game in front of the crowd it's more like they are putting on a show for us--
Way to go Sarah's team! And tell uncle-in-law he had the BEST subs in town!
Speaking of the fair, I went yesterday with some of the family and for the third year in a row saw Garrison Keillor walking around with his family. I think he's stalking me.
Last night's sighting was right after I had bought one of his CD's at the MPR booth. They're great to listen to while riding in the car.
I know, I'm a geek. But he interests me because we are the same age and often in his books or monologues he will mention an event and I'm like, Hey! I was there too!.
I love the new animal birthing building. We walked in that entrance and were just in time to see a calf born.
We're going again tomorrow or Friday when people get off work. Yesterday was a spur of the moment thing and I had just eaten so wasn't able to enjoy any of the food.
Congrats to Sara's team - what school does she play for? Volleyball Rocks! Girls sports have come a long way and there is a lot of opportunity (for scholarships) in volleyball if she continues to develop and grow as a player. But she also needs exposure which basically comes from the club circut.
FWIW - If you (anyone) ever have any questions on the topic of volleyball, ask me, I have a good amount of experience and recommendations
Me2 - funny you mention clarks (and your uncle in law to boot!) that was my Uncle's favorite place to eat I think - ever. seriously. As a kid we must have eatten there like 4 or 5 times a week when I hung out with him.
My Uncle would get mad at me, cause I always wanted my subs with no meat - no cheese, just lots of veggies and the sub dressing.
"What good is a sandwhich without the meat and cheese? It's like a salad boardered with bread!"
And Clark's always smelled so good! I miss that smell. Their cold cuts were so good I would sometimes go in and order just a pound of spiced ham or salami to take home.
I can't do Subway. It smells like rancid meat to me. :lipsealed:
Headed for the Technology Building to do my usual walkthrough, only to find out the fair renamed it the "Progress Center" that houses some "Eco Experience" basically recycling and enviromentally friendly crap. Ohhhh great, I get to go see "Trash Mountain" and a large blade from a windmill.
That's sooooo bogus. Asked at an information booth about where the technology exhibits went, and was told there aren't any...
I liked going there and getting 3M sample products, talking to the local tech companies, seeing what new innovations were out. I don't want to know how I can be more friendly to the environment. I've been out in the woods alot, the environment isn't always a friendly place. You want to talk about eco-friendly? Go walk through the stinging nettles out at crosby park wearing a pair of shorts, then come back and tell me how great nature is.
I was fine with the eco friendly stuff they put in the technology building during past years. It's NOT cool for them to take over the entire building though.
Ooops...I could have saved you that dissappointment...my kids love the tech. building, and they were equally peeved that it had turned into Tree-Hugger Central...they ended up asking if we could go next door and watch the Lumberjacks demolish trees for no real reason...much better!
I heard that 3-M has no presence at the Fair this year... :frown:
Wahoo! I really wanted those cool folding pens they had last year...I thought those were awesome, but the entire building was nice...cool stuff and even some hand-outs...
We went there to get the free goodies also.
Funny thing though. The booth behind the solar car had an electric fan hooked up! Ha! It wasn't even that hot in there!
So much for conserving energy. Pfft
The Wild Kingdom Adventure at the very top of the fair past Machinery Hill and that eco place is also a cool place for kids. If you like walking all the way to Falcon Heights! And they take their picture when you come out, complete with little frame, for free! The background is a bald eagle and a lake or something.
used to love the frontier area too - when they had the strange flavored cotton candy.
and the big dill pickles.
is the cookies by the bucket still by the grandstand? in my teens we had smuggled in alcohol to one of the concerts, got drunk and then went and ate a bunch of those. I thew up chocolate chip cookies... ewwww. still can't eat them.
Heh, sweet martha's cookie jar? Yep, still around. In fact they sent a bucket to my company (they bought some office supplies from us one year, now we get a bucket of cookies sometimes around fair season).
irritates: the 'people' (I use that term loosely) down the hall have now broken the super huge color printer (apparently they over used it or something)
and came storming down the hall to me to say.. well it's your printer! you need to get someone in here RIGHT AWAY to fix it!
I told them to call the corp. IT line (which takes like 4 days just to get a call back) report the problem, they will send out a tech - who if he can't fix it - will call a service company.
I can still hear hissy fits down the hall... pretty dang funny if I do say so myself.
oooooh, is that what that warped white thing is? I thought it was a lame piece of sculpture art ---hahahahahahaha
Another cool thing at the fair is the skateboard park by 3rd Lair in the back corner by the pet building...and being able to sit in the back of an interstate police car and in a police helicopter.
don't like: Build A Bear in a Semi Truck on machinery hill! Ofcourse we got suckered into that.
I'm going to try to make a point of either bringing my camera, or taking the 2 disposables I need to finish off to the fair tomorrow to take some photos.
My fair is way way way smaller than yours. But there is always something strange to be viewed. the one cool thing (although not as cool as the little cable tram thingy over the MN fair) is the skytram - you ride on this tram car and see everything. Excellent for photo shooting. so I will have to do that for sure.
my dog in less than 30 minutes getting though the fences of doggie day care (all 3 of them!) and having to leave work to go get them and take them to jail (aka the vet's industrial kennel)
I swear most days I'm the most patient guy on the planet, however having to deal with people at work that want stuff done right this minute can't understand that. I'm not shirking work off nor slacking, I just know the limits of the computer system and am willing to deal with it. They can't because anything that doesn't happen in a split second takes way too long.
I also despise people's attitudes of expecting me to drop everything I'm doing and go to them when they call me. I'm not a frickin dog! I have things I need to get done in a day too...
So far in the 3 months they've been down there, they've exhausted a years worth of my color ink carts. a years worth of my paper supplies, etc. oh and the entire facilities postage allotment on 1/3 of their latest project.

a free hit would be nice....
"okay... heres your money, and lets see.... oh! you get to punch me in the face, too!"
for the record - the new sandwhich, has 19 slices on salami - just on one half!! not 3 over the entire sandwhich.
they put places like subway and whatever to shame...
It sucks that they had to close down
I suppose thats whats happens, when you have the kind of hours they had - closing at like 2 or 3 every day, and not being open on weekends....
I understand the paper and ink thing love :frown:
He's my uncle-in-law

that's funny OT!!!
did you see him ride down the giant slide?
Jase and Sues are seeing him Friday night at the grandstand.
OT, did you use the coupon from the fair coupon book?
I'm going with Becks on Friday eve if anyone wants to join us- mostly to the beer gardens area.
I love the new animal birthing building. We walked in that entrance and were just in time to see a calf born.
We're going again tomorrow or Friday when people get off work. Yesterday was a spur of the moment thing and I had just eaten so wasn't able to enjoy any of the food.
Do you think he'll autograph a 420 plant for me?
or because is in on the verge of signing boobies because of all the glitz and glammer of being a big tv star??
FWIW - If you (anyone) ever have any questions on the topic of volleyball, ask me, I have a good amount of experience and recommendations
she played both yrs at Ramsey
My Uncle would get mad at me, cause I always wanted my subs with no meat - no cheese, just lots of veggies and the sub dressing.
"What good is a sandwhich without the meat and cheese? It's like a salad boardered with bread!"
I can't do Subway. It smells like rancid meat to me. :lipsealed:
Oh man! I miss Clarks! :frown:
Quizno's is ok too.. (I Like their chili)
I absolutely HATE Togos. the 2 times I've eaten there both in different locations, I've gotten food poisioning. bleech.... hate it hate it hate it.

I think "Trash Mountain" pretty well summed up the Eco Experience. lol!
and machine hill - but that's cause i'm obsessed with everything john deere.
I like the FAA farm with the baby chicks too - I'd call it the faa -faa barn.. heh.
Funny thing though. The booth behind the solar car had an electric fan hooked up! Ha! It wasn't even that hot in there!

only 353 days till the 07 fair....
Good thing there's a medallion hunt or 3 before then to take one's mind off it, heh.
