I am trying to help a friend (OK, my wife) research the roles that infants play within a family. I am having a hard time wording my Google entries to get anything worth using. Could you lend a helping hand?
Dear Ask Kitch, Why didn't my automaticlly setting clock change with the DLST? Will it screw me up and jump ahead an hour on the old date of change? Should I buy a new clock?
She came upstairs and said she couldn't get anywhere with it. So I wanted to surprise her with some stuff that she could use, but I am havu=ing a pretty hard time with it... I am still searching... :frown:
Infant particularly... as in the infant does this/adds this/is this to the family, I think. Like a role of the mother would be caregiver. (would that make the infant the caretaker?)
She needs like 6 different roles that the child plays in the family.
I have a background in child development and honestly have never seen anything related to roles an infant plays in a family. It's more around the way the family dynamics change with a new addition.
First role: The infant becomes its older siblings doll.
Second role: The infant gets lots of attention from parents so its a good chance for older siblings to act out.
Third role: The infant gets cuddled a lot so the older siblings can get some of that cuddling if they revert and start talking baby talk or make the parents feel guilty by saying they love the infant more than they love them. Fair is fair.
Fourth role: The infant gets special food. Now is a good time for the older siblings to ask for lots of treats to make things fair.
Fifth role: The infant doesn't have to share a bed with another sibling. Now is a good time for the older siblings to ask for their own bedroom. It's only fair.
Sixth role: The infant, if the last child, is ALWAYS "the baby". Even when said infant is 50 years old it will still be referred to as "my baby" by the parents. Get used to it. Even if it isn't fair.
This is all hypothetical of course and hasn't been thoroughly researched.
The auto-adjust for Daylight Saving Time function may take up to three to five days to update depending on factors that include your location and current atmospheric conditions.
How Will the DST Change Affect La Crosse Technology Atomic Instruments?
On September 8, 2005, a bill was signed into law that will extend Daylight Saving Time by nearly a month. Starting in 2007, Daylight Saving Time will begin the 2nd Sunday of March and end the 1st Sunday in November. This change in dates has created some concerns about products that automatically adjust for DST.
Every day, La Crosse Technology radio-controlled devices synchronize their time and date information automatically with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's atomic clock in Colorado. This means that if you own a La Crosse Technology radio-controlled device, you will not have to worry about the new DST changes beginning in 2007.
Many other companies, however, have products that only claim to automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. If the product is not radio-controlled, it will not correctly adjust for the DST changes in 2007.
hmm...sounds like either it will work..or it won't depends on your brand...
and may take up to five days to update depending on factors that include your location and current atmospheric conditions.
Not sure if mines radio controled or if it has a really good backup battery to keep the time. I know it sets its self, but maybe its from an internal memory. Maybe I should have left it alone for 3 to 5 days and see if it changed on it's own?
Why is it guys love to much but its never enugh to the other sex and I JUST saw a study that said women dont love as much as men? how dose that work?????????
ya I just saw a deal on tv about the falls and wanted to know about if he could come up with a answer to my lame azz question!!! Your right I havent seen him in a feww days!!!! ??? Kitch helllooooooo is there any one out therreeeee?????? :ooh:
I would assume that they would pull you over just to see if you're OK and it wasn't a distress signal. But if you got a ticket because you were flashing him because he had his high beams on, I'd fight it.
I'm 90% sure if you flick your highbeams you could be ticketed for this..
its illegal in a lot of other states.
i'm checking.
for motorcyles....-A headlight modulator is a device that “pulses” the headlight (high-low-high-low) during daylight hours only at a rate which draws added attention to an approaching motorcycle. These devices are legal in the eyes of the U.S. Department of Transportation as an exception to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 571.108. In a nutshell, that law states that no vehicle except emergency vehicles can use flashing lights. The reason that the modulator is legal is because it doesn’t flash (on-off-on-off), but as described above, pulses.
interesting...didn't know what did that on motorcycles....cool.
I always assumed it was the small alternators on a motorcycle that caused that flashing (which btw is really annoying). I guess I thought that because I've seen cars with bad alternators behave like that.
Still, how else are you supposed to signal a car that either isn't running with headlights on or has their high beams on? Honk at them?
not flashing high beams JUST the lights themselves off and then on again.
A friends son was having trouble with his alternator ( I think) and his car turnd off and then back on again or something like that. WHEN a cop drove past him. The head lights went off and then back on - the cop pulled him over and said he smelt acholhol - they wern't drinking and over 21. The cops made them do a sobriety test and searched their car. Then gave them a ticket for flashing the lights at the cops.
Just wondered is all - thanks -
I got pulled over by the police when I was a teenager. My girlfriend and I went cruisin in my 76 Big black Bonneville on dirt roads near White Bear Lake and Stillwater. One of those nights that we were aimlessly out with nothing to do and if we got lost we got lost and would find our way home by sunrise. Which was probably not the best thing to do since I always had flat tires with that car and got about 6 miles to the gallon.
It was pitch dark and I had just gotten out of work late- we filled up the car with black garbage bags of left over popcorn from Roseville 4 (when I worked there we got anything we wanted). ..... I flashed my highbeams at a car on a dirt road with hills! the guy turned around and pulled us over. We didn't get a ticket and he just scolded us.
ok - so when all these banks say they don't charge closing costs "We offer no closing costs" than why is it they want some sort of flood plain checking cost and recording something or another costs - = to about $58 roughly ???
I'm in the same situation, me2. I live on the hill, high above the river, but they don't take that into account. They figure it to be x feet from the river bed.
If any of you are in a building trades union, their credit union is offering home equity loans and lines of credit with no appraisal fees or closing costs. The offer is good until May 31.
I'm tempted. I'd go for the line of credit I think. I have a few things I'd like to get done here and up north.
...but i could be wrong...
Time Keeps on Slipping Slipping Slipping
Into the future
I wanna fly like an eagle, to the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I wanna fly
Fly right into the future
I wanna feed the babies
Who can't get enough to eat
I wanna shoe the children
New shoes on their feet
I wanna house the people
Living in the street

:worried:
Did you flash your "high beams" at them? I woulda liked to see that. :ooh:
j/k
Cm's right. Highbeams are not supposed to be used in the city, even by the cops.
(grabbing Mardi Gras beads and heading out...)
I actually have a shirt that says that.

I'm just assuming the odds of getting a ticket for it are slim. I'd almost think claiming ignorance would be the best way outta it.

I'm 100% positive that Im not on a flood plain!!!
