Kitch - question from the upcoming bride and groom regarding their honeymoon......They where given a time share as a wedding gift and only need to arrange their flight...
Is there a best time of the day and/or week to purchase airline tickets at the lowest rates?
Oooooh! Speaking of airfares, we Yoopers are effectively being held hostage up here by NW Airlines. There are three airlines that serve the airport here. NW flies to Detroit four times a day and to MSP once. The other two airlines only fly to places like Chicago or Milwaukee.
Airfare from here to MSP (for the weekend I tried) was $850. If I wanted to continue on to Grand Forks (where Drummer is going to school) the fare was $1770. Same dates, I could have flown from here to San Francisco and back for $314, so I know they can and do give decent fares, just have to get on a bigger plane at some point, and the places I want to go all involve little puddle-jumpers.
My friend in Seattle can fly to Spokane (almost as far as MQT to MSP) for $58 round trip.
Would there be a best time or day or way to find airfares that might be more affordable? Most times I like to have my car with me, so would choose to drive.
But Drummer has a couple of concerts coming up I might like to fly in for. One on April 15 and another on April 26-27.
Do you have any idea where I can find an Eljer toilet tank lid #191697 or 5540 in peach bisque for under $50? OT, does one of your plumber sons have an extra one? The one place online I can find one wants $190!! I can get a whole new stool for that!
arecast uses historic pricing data to help you make an educated decision about whether or not a fare is likely to fluctuate in the coming week. A supplementary service called FareGuard ($10) covers the difference if they tell you to wait for a price to go down and it rises instead. Caveat: Farecast covers only 78 cities, all of them in the United States.
Thanks Ice for asking what was in lava lamps. Thanks for posting the answer Kitch. I have quite a few of them around here and always thought it was oil and lard but worked the same way as you posted.
Funny how Ali just asked me what my most prized possession was and told her it was my original Lava Lamp I got the first year they came out. We all starred at it all night long waiting for the top and bottom to join as one big column. It finally did at about 6:30am and we never cheered harder.
Because the IRS will use the Social Security number to determine when checks are mailed, taxpayers may receive their checks at different times than their neighbors or other family members.
I wonder what order they're going in. Initial rounds are May-July.. no idea what that means either... With my luck, I'll have mine just in time for Christmas shopping...
I don't even know if I will qualify for the stimulus check. My "income" from the TAA program I was on don't count as income, even though I have to pay tax on it. They say you have to have at least $3000 in income. We filed jointly. Do they consider our incomes together for the threshold or each seperatly?
I just checked with penny and she checked on the site. You are right OT. I was worried because unemployment is unearned income not earned income. So single people that were unemployed with no "income" and only unemployment benifits get nothing. Pennys dad only got SS so he only gets $300. Seems to me those are the people that should get more.
Yet people with individual income of $75000 get $600 and couples with combined income of $150000 get $1200. I don't think they really need anything from the government.
You know that Penny's father still has to file a return, don't you? He'll only get the $300 if he files, even though ordinarily he wouldn't be required to.
Ok, good. Just making sure you didn't think he'd automatically get it. And I agree. I think it sucks that people only receiving SS only get $300. It would seem they could use that extra money more than someone making more.
You can't file free at Turbotax. You either pay for the service, then you get to file free - or you use the service for free and pay to file. Either way, it's about $30.
That's not the only reason I file. I have income other than SS and need to do a couple of schedules. I just used the free option from the link I posted.
I didn't think you would know. I was hoping to find a picture on Live search or G-Maps but no luck. There's this construction road sign in the median by the center barrier around Lake St. in the north bound lane of 35W that has the fog line laid around it. You're going straight then need to curve around this sign for some reason. Most people just keep on driving straight through the fog line and back to the normal path anyway. I was wondering if there was a sink hole or something we couldn't see for the reason why 4 lanes of traffic are diverted for less than a block. It's weird and I think about it every day I pass it. As I'm sure others do as well. I haven't found anything within my construction e-mails as of yet. I might just have to call them.

So I thought I'd ask Kitch for advice!
