If it's not at Swede this year, it'll rank right up there with the 2003 hunt as the biggest piece of wool pulled over everyone's eyes possibly in hunt history...
Box DID say he loved the harder hunts that lasted longer and drove people nutty... but I'm pretty sure he'd want all the clues to -make sense- for where it was, so we'll see
jackson street (jacks as in bower and knave) runs next to the "court"house in downtown, right? neath the court could be along the trails by warner road where you might see a dude walking his poodle.
There's a King Ave about 1 block south of Battle Creek in Maplewood
King Street runs east-west on top of the bluff and lines up pretty much on the nothern 1/3 with Cherokee Park - Alice park is on the northern edge on the street Alice Court
I Can't find much for Court - too many names.
Where does "Court" fall into Swede Hollow? The new Gov't Center is at University and Lafayatte - almost a half mile away. That is a stretch.
We thought of that general area earlier tonight too....my middle child put it out there actually....not too far from the detention center, and she put the science museum for "beasts exposed"....she had a hockey theme for bower though, spelled differently, but I guess it works
if it's at Cherokee, can we connect the high bridge to any of the clues? I tried, but it was too stretchy... using "bridge" the card game, and the high cards
also I was thinking for "endless knave" Smith is pretty endless in phone books, but again a big stretch
40" That phone book common name was used in a previous hunt, I think it was Johnson; Johnson Pkwy if memory serves me. OT do you remember? Not sure which park that was, but the CW did use a phone book name for a street name before..
This clue just further cemented Swede for me. Describes both what's above and what happened below perfectly. Now if only it was -20 out so I could hunt without freezing my ass off. Oh well. Off to bed, early day at work tomorrow.
Kellogg was the park with the White Castle Box - and we were convinced it was Harriet Island because of the anchor and some other things that were viewable from the island.
I have never hunted that park, but it's not as small as it seems - especially with a good amount of snow.
The Treasure Chest was hidden for the 2nd hunt near the tennis courts in 1953 not 195FORE, damn. Thought I had something there. Theres DELaware Street, but there's nothing Hill related as far as names.
I'm having a real hard time getting anything from Clue 4 - pig/palin/lipstick to fit Cherokee.
Doesn't matter what the clues say, it's not in Kellogg. I know because they already tried that last year where they had all the clues pointing to Kellogg, yet they don't actually put it there.
Xcel Energy would obviously be visible from Cherokee since its right across the river, but I don't think you can say the Gov't center is visible - judging by the sight lines on the aerial photos the High Bridge would block any clear view of the waterfront downtown.
(course i'm not in the park right now making that call, but it looks like you'd have to be one the other side of Smith - like the Bruce Vento lookout - too see downtown)
What does that have to do with Palin or lipstick, pig or pitbull?
Heh...I could say the same about Swede Hollow....wasn't there last year, but there was a year not all that long ago I was convinced! Except I wouldn't be entirely surprised if that's where it is this year....a lot of convincing points in the clues.
Box DID say he loved the harder hunts that lasted longer and drove people nutty... but I'm pretty sure he'd want all the clues to -make sense- for where it was, so we'll see
One time when we thought it might be in Cherokee, she had this whole history about the park. It included honey wagons dumping over the cliffs.
And speaking of have no fear - brave - Indian Braves?

Somehow the clues will be explained in a way to match the park it's hidden in. I have to believe that.
Reading too much into clues can often lead us places that were not intended by the writer.
It's part of the challenge of the hunt when so many ideas and so much information is available in a nano second.
At least the County Workhouse is on adjacent property to Battle Creek - but I still think that is a stretch for Court in meaning.

Battle Creek Michigan is best known for being home to what... Kellogg's
 :pbpt: :goofy:

Neith king and court--as in the rich people lived up on high ground?
Poodle--now it's a park and people walk dogs there?
