There are such obvious noodles that have us sent to a park and then in the next clue there's a little tidbit on that park but in that same clue a more obvious noodle about a different park appears
I've done some checking of the 1998 clues for Cherokee. Sugary loaf was one clue for Winona. Sweet land?
Clues included the playground, toing and froing, staying away from the ravine, the sledding hill (Rosebud), the trees on the furthest west side of the park, and the line of double division (Anapolis).
as long as these clues aren't pointing towards crap like "look for the buck to acquire good luck," then I'll be happy. Gimme good clues with good explanations that make sense.
I'm with PHG. This clue pretty clearly says Swede. I think Terry explained the clue earlier in the thread. Swede used to have folks living there as if it were the feudal times. Now it is so nice there, you can walk your dog.
Because King and Court are capitalized, I'm pretty sure they refer to businesses or buildings above SH. There is one fast food restaurant in particular that matches one of those words.
That was the early 90s. One of the ladies I worked with then lived in the area and was one that worked on getting Swede Hollow what it is today. Her name still appears on somethings I've found on the internet related to SH.
Odd how things come around full circle in one's life.
I'm way behind on posts, so forgive my restating ideas, but
"owner walk his poodle" anagrams to In Swede Hollow Park" with a left-over "O"
Now I'm sure, given any group of four lines, at least one would anagram to In Swede Hollow Park every time, and the other times it would anagram to Svenske dalen, but it does seem like a strong hint at SH.
yep posted that earlier... actually not that common to get a full park name (especially one as long as Swede Hollow Park) out of a singular group of 4 words... even with the leftover letter(s) still pretty solid
I know I'm gun shy after the 10th clue run to Como. Sitting at Harriet Island waiting to see the masses come from the paper - and then finding out it was a Como...pricelss and unforgetable.
Grinning an aweful grin.....clue 12 having lower swede hollow FULL of hunters at midnight's clue, tell everyone it's on top! Now THAT my friends would be worthy of admission!
If it's at Swede, I'm not even going to look for it. For most of these clues, it's a stretch at best to fit them to Swede which means the clue explanations are bound to be painful once again.
These tired eyes have noodled just about all there is to noodle for today....at least I won't have to be up at 4 tomorrow! Need to at least wait til sun-up and hope to see above zero!
I still have a hard time buying into Swede. It's a logistical nightmare for a large crowd - not a lot of space, not a lot of parking, dangerous thin ice in places, no street lights whatsoever, no bathrooms, etc... etc... etc..
I know a lot of people have 'locked' into that park, but that's a Cardinal Sin in hunting! Getting too focused on one spot is how the PP can throw a u-turn on Clue 10 so easily.
Hell, I've already got a small digging location picked INSIDE Battle Creek, but I'm gonna step back and try to start over noodling other places to see if I can get something else to work.
Parking hasn't been good at a few parks that I can think of...neighborhood parks like Newell, Cherokee, Conway, Kellogg - but that's never stopped the puck from laying there.
Parking along side streets is what people do and walk in.
The complete last line anagrams into "ease on into swede hollow park". Although, kind of compelling, I don't believe for a minute that this is a legitimate clue.
The paved walking path curves up to 7th at the "Bruce Vento" trail head - a small parking area off Payne that can only hold about 15 vehicles.
There's a beat up path that goes off that curve down hill and under the freeway. That hits the driveway next to that power station area, which eventually gets you onto Commercial Street, which parallels I-94 and merges onto Mounds Boulevard.
It will be very hard to deny it's in Swede Hollow if the anagrams continue...but its more important to Look to the Buck, and reports of deer at the Hamms' parties are true...
Perhaps Court and King are business current or past surrounding the park...

*since I'm now convinced it's Swede, it's bound to be anywhere other than Swede*

NOW the cat's out of the bag....
Or not.
So addicted.
Goodnight and SCD's...

I will likely be headed off soon too. It's really chilled down in this house.
I agree that things can change, but for now I'm sold.
One last thing, reading Box's book helps to interpret the clues.
